I was originally worried, but I'm happy with my 'Roo line-up!
Have fun, in all seriousness, those of you attending Coachella. If I could afford both this'd be the year I would do it, but it's just not possible. I'm still gonna have a kick-ass time at Bonnaroo!
Coachella destroyed Bonnaroo? Hardly. I feel they are on the same page with a line-up this year. Its just different strokes for different folks. The only acts I wish Bonnaroo had are Public Image Ltd., Grizzly Bear, and Gil Scott-Heron. Coachella doesn't have that OMG factor outside those bands whereas Bonnaroo has alot of those. Me personally Coachella 2009 looks alot better and there was a large part of me who wanted to go last year real bad.
Also I knew it wasn't going to last, but Sly and The Family Stone is just Sly Stone solo now. I laughed when I saw that.

Coachella wins hands down. Headliners and undercard. I just sat down and did the math though and between flights there and back, luggage fees, Buses to and from indio, coachella ticket and services fees I'm looking at $700+ and that's before food, party favors, merch, etc. I really can't spend more than $700-800 total (and thats a stretch for my budget). Very Sad
So I re-tabulated my Coachella lineup score based on the scorecard I used for Roo, and the lineup scored a 91 to Roo's 61. However, Coachella needs to score 100 for me to go, which barring some unforeseen magnificent addition, ain't happening.
I went to Coachella in '05 because Radiohead was headlining. Went to this thing called Bonnaroo in '06 because Radiohead was headlining. Never went back to Coachella (and we live in LA) and have been to Bonnaroo every year since. Although there are certain acts at Coachella that I would love to see, the headliners are a toss up but I can't see not going to Roo.
headliner or not, there has to be a strong musical pull for me to travel 10+ hrs to a fest. i loved coachella's lineup immediately. bonnaroo's lineup just does not do it for me this year. i do love that roo is open nonstop once the gates open, i do love that the music goes on until the sun comes up, and i do not like how you have to be in a cage to drink a beer at coachella. however, there is just not a strong enough pull to get me to go to roo this year. and after i went in 08, i told myself that there was no way i could do coachella over roo. i guess i was wrong. i guess i do need that "WOW" factor when it comes to the music.
Tickets bought and flights booked!!!! So excited. I ended up booking the flight into Phoenix just works out better price wise and time-wise. 61 days!! cant wait to pop my Coachella cherry. Im gonna be so broke after this summer but its really now or never with getting to Cali
I posted on the coachellacarpoolarella too but if anyone has room for me to ride from the san diego airport on thurs/mon to Coachella I would be super grateful and chip in for gas of course! : ) PM me or post if you could help me out! Thanks!
If Coachella lands Sade on top of what it's already got then I think they definitely will top out 'Roo after that. Unless *crosses fingers* Bonnaroo has something slick up their sleeve...

To me...Bonnaroo has a hold over me. Nothing against Coachella, they do their thing pretty well, but Bonnaroo is what I like to think my 4 days of music that I never wanna lose (Regardless the headliners)

Yep. For whatever reason, she has a huge indie following now. I have no idea why.
it's no an indie following. she has done a lot more than smooth operator.
Nearly 10 years after the group's last studio effort, Sade is back with "Soldier of Love," blasting in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 502,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"Solder of Love" gives Sade its first No. 1 debut and its best sales week since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. On top of that, it's the best sales week for an album by a group since AC/DC's "Black Ice" bulldozed into the chart at No. 1 on the chart dated Nov. 8, 2008, with 784,000.
Listen to Sade's "Soldier of Love" Album
"Soldier" is Sade's second No. 1 album. Its first, "Promise," spent two weeks at the top of the chart in 1986. The new album is also the first studio effort from the band -- led by vocalist Sade Adu -- since "Lovers Rock" was released in November of 2000. That set debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 370,000 sold in its first week. Since its release, "Lovers Rock" has sold 3.9 million in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
All told, Sade has notched eight top 10 albums in a row on the Billboard 200 -- its entire output of albums, which stretches back to its "Diamond Life" debut in 1985. That total includes its six studio sets, one greatest hits ("The Best Of") and one live recording ("Lovers Live"). With that feat of eight top 10s, Sade is the first group since Led Zeppelin to see its first eight charting albums all reach the top 10. Led Zeppelin actually did it with its first 10 albums -- from 1969 with its self-titled No. 10-peaking set, up until 1983 when "Coda" topped out at No. 6.
When she releases an album there is huge buzz because she keeps such a low profile. She just keeps her shiz mysterious & on the DL and doesn't overexpose herself like the rest of em'. I was shocked as hell when I saw an interview with her in the NYT since she rarely does them. If she does Coachella or any big festival my eyes might pop out of my head....especially since I'll have to miss it.
so apparently the old man is flying me out for some father/son bonding at coachella! i'm in total shock and i couldn't be more excited! however, i was just looking at random threads on the coachella message board and i've never seen such hate. it seems like every thread that is started has someone telling the poster to "GET THE F*CK OUT!". lame. seriously pumped about going out there to hang with my dad and school him on some muzack.

I understand Sade keeps a low profile, but her last record was about as mainstream as they come. How many weddings in the past few years (both real and fictional) featured "By Your Side" for the first dance?
She's obviously not an underground sensation; thus my confusion about why, all of a sudden, she's super cool with hipsters, who previously only would have liked her ironically. Or perhaps liked her, but just the old stuff, which they'd listen to on vinyl.
