Hi there!
I belong to a message board full of music enthusiasts who attend Bonnaroo each year. Needless to say, we were all excited to hear of the possibility of a new festival and we were very excited when we learned that Michael Allegretto had been brought on board as he has an extensive resume and seems to know what he is doing. All of the news we had heard made it sound like this was a done deal and was going to be a great thing.
However, we are disheartened that there has not been a lineup announcment yet. Jazzfest has announced; Waka has announced; Coachella has announced; Bonnaroo will announce on 2/2/2010.
Is there going to be a Hangout Music Festival?
There is speculation that nothing will come of it...
well i had posted a comment on their facebook that said i heard this fest isn't happening. i heard they weren't able to book the acts they wanted. that probably got a reaction out of them. which is what i was trying to do. but there were probably lots of people asking them about it like you as well.

Still booking bands? At this point, you're looking at a fest that is set to happen in a handful of months- and there's nothing solid out there right now. I feel like you can't throw something together last minute and expect it to be epic. While I would love a festival in Alabama to go to, and especially with someone so influential involved, I can't say I believe it's going to amount to anything.

exactly - they should be able to at least give a date to release a line up
Hi, I have been following and excited about your event, The Hangout Music Festival, for some time now. However, I have been extremely disheartened by the organizers' lack of information, communication, and announcements as of late. The lineup was scheduled for the fourth of January and then postponed for two weeks. Those two weeks came and went and now there have been NO announcements regarding the lineup or even announcements about the actual lineup announcement.
As someone who regularly and devotedly attends festivals and music events, I have to say that this situation has completely deflated my hopes for the Hangout Fest, as well as all of my friends and their excitement. At this point, we wonder if the festival will happen at all. Many friends have given up hope for the fest altogether, unfortunately (but not surprisingly).
When will we be given an announcement of some kind?

It meant a lot to me that he took time out of his day to address my concerns, and I think his explanations are completely valid. He could have announced a lineup earlier, but it seems as though this would have resulted in a sub-par lineup. I'm glad they aren't sacrificing quality, and I'm sure I can wait on a lineup--I've got ROO CLUES and Bonnaroo's lineup to hold me over.
There is a state park a couple miles away... Gulf State Park that has camping, we have stayed there and its pretty nice (well it was before a hurricane.. maybe theyve fixed it up)
