I'm trying not to think about this too much because it's already going to be a thousand years until I'm laying on the beach, if I think about it too much then every day until I'm on the beach will be another thousand years. Must occupy my mind with other things... local music... heavy drinking... corn... work.... thinking about the beach.... NO, DAMMIT! AAARRRGHHHHH

I'm still super stoked. I went back to Big Lots this weekend and got three more packs of those leis. I've made a list, then shortened that list from one and half pages to three quarters of a page lol. Got a tanning package... new bathing suit.

Hah, thats funny. The Pink Pony in Atlanta is a well known strip club, er "Gentlemen's Club".
Ever been to the Pink Slip in East St Louis?? Not well known at all, and theres a metal detector when u walk in the door. If ur there, chances are you got lost. I survived, somehow.
But moving on, i still haven't rented a condo. My 'crew' went from 2 car loads of ppl all the way down to just me and maybe one other dude. I'm kind of pissed. May end up crashing in the jeep. lol ah well. i tend to not sleep much during music festivals anyway.

Check out the Gulf State Park...they have a Lodge and cabins and camping areas pretty reasonable...not sure how full they are but it would be better than camping in the car. And it's not a bad drive from the festie and my bet is they will run a shuttle service from there anyways so you can park and ride right from there! I'll look up the link and post it unless someone beats me to it! ;D
EDIT: Looks like a "small woods" cabin will run you $90 a night plus taxes. Here's more info and the link:
Gulf State Park offers 20 modern cabins wiithin walking distance of the golf course and two-and-a-half miles from snow-white beaches. Four of these cabins, referred to as (woods) cabins, are surrounded by the beautiful longleaf pine and palmetto forest of coastal Alabama. The remaining (lakeside) cabins are located on the shores of the 900-acre Lake Shelby.
The woods cabins are one room with a separate kitchen and bath and will sleep four. A two-bedroom, one-bath woods cabin is also available that will sleep six. The lakeside cabins have two bedrooms and one bath that will sleep four. A three-bedroom, two-bath lakeside cabin is also available. This cabin will sleep six. All lakeside cabins are elevated 12 feet above the ground. Two of the lakeside cabins are handicapped accessible.
All cabins contain screened porches and have barbecue grills and picnic tables. The lakeside cabins also have fishing piers and fish cleaning stations. Cabins are equipped with a full kitchen including pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes and flat ware. A microwave, coffee pot and toaster are also provided. Televisions with satellite reception are included. A supply of linens are also provided and towel and face cloths will be changed one time during a weeks stay.

On a side note, I may have found a condo near the beach on the 300 block of E Ocean Blvd. All things considered, its just a lil more pricey than the cabins in the woods but ten times closer to the festy and the beach. I might end up getting this with or without confirmation from my friend(s). fahk it

i find that when it comes to big groups, most are people are cool with one person doing all the planning, and just being told where to go.
Hey!! I just saw this thread! Handgunhips told me about this festie a couple weeks ago and it looks GREAT! FLIPS, Rod & Gab and a GIRL TALK show on the beach?? Yes please!! Me, my lady friend and a handful of the kick-ass peeps I work with are going for the weekend - we bought our tickets yesterday. Her fam has a sick house pretty close to the water, so I'd love to see any InfoRoo'ers who decide to show up. We all need to get in touch when May gets closer. It'll be a great warm-up for June!

on a more serious note - I am so excited and finding out that yet another Inforooster is going just makes it even better!

There is no Ocean Blvd. in Gulf Shores so make sure you aren't getting scammed before giving them a deposit.

OOpS. it was Beach Blvd, not Ocean Blvd. Which in my mind is interchangable apparently. Im kind of spacey. Ok, a lot spacey

You gotta wear those ears (and full, fluffy bunny costume) to the flaming lips show.....you'll fitt right in, although it may be a tad hot on the beach for that... Man, i am psyched for these sets. A Flips show always gets me sooooo excited, goosebumps thinking about it! And i'll be able to catch a TAB set before phish hits this summer....lovin it!
also i saw pretty lights in Mobile last night...twas awesome....dropped some flyers, hoping i'll get some pts fer my efforts...

the outfit is funny b/c random people will come up to you and want to pet the fur and feel the fluffyness....at least thats been my experience...always funny to see some "wide eyed" festival goer enjoying all the many odd sights and sounds when the sun goes down!! looney tunes i tell ya.
