has anyone considered staying at gulf shores state park campground? its about 3 miles down the road toward orange beach. i figure since i have all this camping gear now i could set up there and bike in to the hangout.

If you read back in the thread, I think you will see that there are several inforooers that are staying there - but I'd call quick if I were you - last I heard - spots were going quick

Robert Randolph just confirmed he is playing Hangout on friday on facebook, this may be my tipping point into going. I am having to skip bonnaroo since it is one week before leaving for Glastonbury. Still waiting until the last moment in case Roo mystically adds MMJ at the last moment, I would go then.

Great news. I haven't seen RRatFB for about 5 years. The Friday schedule could def use some help. Sunday is packed with good acts. I wonder when they'll announce times/stages.

Perfect! I just said yesterday we needed to see if RR was playing around here sometime since it's been a while. Nobody can get a crowd wound up like RR.

my last final is on may 12, and then i plan on sleeping until i feel like waking up after my last final, and then driving straight through. probably picking up kaleidoscope kristin on the way, but other than that...i'll be ready to PAR-TAY!!!!!!
Looks like my plan is to leave here thurs.. drive the ~6 hrs down.. and leave gulf shores on monday.. whats everyone elses?
I actually won't be getting there til Saturday morning. Gonna be at a bachelor party in Destin Thursday and Friday nights then driving over saturday morning. So, no Friday festival for me. I think I might stay until tuesday to recover...

I believe Wolfaroo, myself, and another will be leaving late Wednesday night and driving straight through (14 hours I think) to be there semi early on Thursday. I'd like to enjoy the beach for a bit before the festie starts. I guess we'll be leaving for home Monday morning. Actual plans are not set in stone.
Adam, we need to hash out a plan. Devon will just have to follow our lead and do as we say.

OK girly girls - we don't have a whole board for this festival - so we can't have a seperate "fashion" thread - but other then then obvious bathing suit - what else are you packing??
I'm thinking bathing suit/shorts and tanks for daytime
maybe a skirt or two for the evenings
Hippie/Kristen - specially interested in what ya'll have to contribute since "ahem" ya'll are built more like me - LOL

other than my swimwear i'm thinking skirts (i've got a couple long skirts already, can't seem to find any more long skirts around town here that aren't white, I like white but it's just too hard to keep clean.) and tank tops galore!
Oh and my Dad bought his girlfriend's daughter and me each a really cute dress, only bad thing is that they are identical. So if we wear them on the same day it'll look like we're trying to be twins and if we wear them on different days it'll look like one of us is wearing the other's dirty laundry. soooo Twins it is! lol. And flip flops! can't go to the beach without flip-flops!
if any of you girls find any decently priced skirts online let me know. I don't want to spend more than $15.00 bucks though.
I'm bringing shorts and tank tops. I'm worried that being so close to the water will be too windy for skirts, although I suppose it will depend on the weather.
I'm flying into Atlanta and then driving so my space will probably be limited, so I have a top 5 list and as long as I make it to the beach with these 5 things, I will be fine
1.) Sunglasses 2.) Sunscreen 3.) Tank Top 4.) Shorts 5.) Flip Flops
Definitely bring the sunscreen! You will need it! That's one item I WON'T be forgetting!
HGH and I met up this weekend and got our plans straight...leaving out early Thurs afternoon so will be there Thurs night and prob leave Mon morning heading back. She does the skirt thing, I'll do shorts and 'kini tops with tanks and T's or maybe a sundress or 2, depending on the weather. If it's really windy it's a pain to deal with dresses and skirts. And it may still be cool enough for jeans at night. But flip flops/sandals are a definite unless you go with keds. I prefer sandals.
For those who are interested, I sent them an email asking about shuttles since I'm pretty curious how the traffic for this thing is gonna work. Anyway, they din't give a whole lot of info, but here's the response:
"A full shuttle plan will be released shortly as far as stops. But it will run from around 11 am til 1am arriving at each stop very 15 or 20 minutes or so. The road of the festival site will be blocked at a point to allow for shuttle pick up and drop off. There are side streets around the site where parking will be an option but will not be maintained by by the festival staff. People will surely take a few bucks and let people park in there yards etc... for a few bucks but the parking will be independent of the festival itself except through VIP ticket purchases."
Unfortunately, I think it's likely that it will be a bit of a clusterf*ck. I'm gonna plan to get there early in the day and be prepared for the fact that it will probably take a while to get home. Unless you're within walking distance, of course.

At first glance I don't have any conflicts! YEAH!! It looks like they've done really well planning the bands start times.
The only complaint I have so far is that John Legend has a 2 hour and 15 minute slot and The Lips only have a 1 hour and 30 minute slot. I think they could have shifted that at least 15 minutes.

The schedule looks great. I see a couple of conflicts but nothing major. I think the two main stage set up will be great bc you'll be able to camp out for a good spot at one and still listen to what's going on at the other. Wolfaroo and I were just talking last night about when we thought the schedule would be out.

I really wish Girl Talk had a longer and later set and it seems like they are going to be on one of the other two stages that aren't on the beach... other than that I'm stoked about the schedule.
