I generally have no conflicts whatsoever, which is awesome. The only conflicts I possibly have are between artists I hardly know anyway, so making a decision between them on the fly will lead to little or no disappointment at missing the other artist. I'm so stoked.
Yeah, I have to say they did a great job scheduling. My only real conflict isn't really that big.... OK Go or Guster?
It'll be OK Go! Before the schedule was posted I wanted to see Guster but right now I'm more into OK Go's music PLUS I saw Guster this past year so it was an easy conflict to resolve.

From briefly looking on google maps, that oil spill is a couple hundred miles away. I don't think we have to worry about it.
That's what I thought too but CNN did a story about a half hour ago that said land fall is expected as early as 3 days out. The map they showed had it at 70 miles from Mobile. The maps on the following links show the spill 60-80 miles from the area.
Not looking good..... DAMN I'm going to be pissed off if they don't get this under control!
"One of the key scientists advising federal officials on the fate of the ongoing spill from the oil rig that exploded last week said there was no question that a "mass of oil" will wash ashore in Alabama and Mississippi in a matter of days."

They started the burns yesterday but since they are having to corral smaller sections of the spill and pull it to an isolated areas before burning it doesn't seem that's going to have a big impact. After all it's spilling over 200,000 gallons of oil a day into the gulf.
Alabama's response will be to let the oil wash onto the beaches and protect the marsh areas. Good for the environement bad for beach going folks.
"head of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, said current plans call for allowing oil to wash up on the state's Gulf beaches and focusing the installation of oil booms on the passes in between the barrier islands and on the coastal marshes of the Mississippi Sound."
GULF SHORES, Ala. -- City officials issued a press release late Thursday morning stating that there is no reason yet to believe that the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will impact Alabama beaches.

fuck "Steven Drozd, best known as the multi-instrumentalist for The Flaming Lips, remains hospitalized for an undisclosed reason. As a result, the band has been forced to cancel its upcoming appearance at the inaugural Hangout Music Festival, which follows previously scrapped plans to appear at this weekend’s SunFest and Beale Street Music Festival. Three dates scheduled to take place in the week leading up Hangout Music Festival also appear to be canceled.
Yesterday, Drozd assured fans via his Twitter that he expects to make a full recover, writing, “Thank you, everyone, for your concern. I had to do this and I’m getting it together.” Bandmate Kliph Scurlock also posted a statement: “Kliph Scurlock wants everybody to know that Steven will be just fine as soon as he gets some rest. He (and the rest of us) really appreciate your kind thoughts and well wishes, but please don’t worry yourselves.”
Of course, we’ll continue to update you as more information becomes available. As of now, the band’s now scheduled appearance at the Free Press Summer Fest on June 6th.

I honestly doubt they get anyone to replace them this quickly. I really don't want Jakob Dylan to be the only option in that time slot. That's a big hit to the lineup. May be a good night to have the inforoo party?

Oh man No FLips?! I'm ok with that since I'll get to see them at 'Roo. (unless they cancel that show too) But, my little brother is going to be devastated. This sucks so bad.
Maybe Girl Talk can do another night and fill their spot. That would be nice.
I'm bummed enough... would be devastated if Girl Talk (the rape of music) filled the spot.
I'm usually not that much of a hater when it comes to music. I generally accept that people have different taste in music and that just because I don't like something doesn't mean it's bad. Having said that Girl Talk is the one exception.... it's pure crap! ... sorry.

Hey! I'm new here and just now read through this thread (or most of it). I'm volunteering for this festival and was supposed to be going with a friend but unfortunately his exams fall during the fest and he can't get the dates changed. mega-bummer! i didn't see anything in this thread about people carpooling (although i could have missed it, but i did make an effort to read everything before posting about something that already exists) and since there's no board solely for this festival i'd figure i'd throw it out there. i'm coming by myself from raleigh, nc. anyone coming from the area or along my way (i'll be traveling along 95S and 20W) who would want to share the ride? 13 hours is a loooonggg way alone! i'll have my vehicle but can ditch it along the way if need be and i'll be traveling with camping gear for one in tow. i've done the 'roo in '08 and '09 (and the drive from to and from every year as the sole driver. ugh.) (and soon to be '10!) and just got back from coachella (where i celebrated my bday chyea!) so i'm not entirely strange to festivals. even if there's no one to share the road with i can't wait to be apart of the first year of the hangout! see you all ON THE BEACH!
There's not a thing worth remembering When tomorrow can bring someone new Get used to the thought You can't be what you're not Life has already got plans for you

sntemp: No need to *cover your head and prepare for a beatdown* dude. LOL It's all good if you hate Girl Talk. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. I'm the same way about bands like Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman. (God, I hate them!). So it's all good yo.
and joyanonymous: I would totally love to help you out b/c I would HATE to make that drive by myself but, we're taking a different route I think. Maybe someone on here can help you out. I'll look forward to seeing you down there!!!
"I'm the same way about bands like Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman"
Well I feel the same way about them but I tend to just ignore them since I don't have much respect for their fan base either. I guess Girl Talk stands out more to me given that I respect their fans. Girl Talks fans generally have great taste in music....
