I bet Mavs +4.5 and moneyline. They can’t beat Boston in a series. I’m thinking 1 or 2 max unless some random shit happens. Denver, I thought, was the only WC team who could beat them.
cool! Mavs over Celtics in 6 (let me be delusional my team is up by a million)

Be as delusional as you want to be. That’s part of being a fan. It’s a weird series. Boston was soft last year but they are better this season. Lively is good but with Porzingis out a big man inside could wreak havoc on the Celtics’ defense. We’ll see. I’ll bet Boston but I took Dallas ML all 5 games this series and am up.

yeah I think especially if Brown steps up for the matchup, he and jrue can probably play the best defense Luka and kyrie have seen in the playoffs. Big man availability for both teams will have big implications
As talented as Kyrie is, him finally growing up at age 32 and help lead a team to a NBA finals/possible title wasn't something I ever expected to see.
but he already did this with Lebron
That was my point. I didn’t think he’d be mature enough or finally give a shit enough to make it back. The dude stormed out of Cleveland and Boston and then went completely off the rails in Brooklyn.

i like the mavs in 7. pacers handed that series over and arguably outplayed boston even without Hali

I think it will be tough for them to win 4 particularly if Kristaps Porzingis returns as is expected for the finals.

I think the Mavs have a great shot but I'm rooting for the Celtics begrudgingly. The way the Mavs tanked at the end of last year really bothered me, and I don't want to see them win it all with Derek Lively contributing one year later.

Kyrie does seem like he's matured in some ways but the Mavs also have done a lot to cater to him that other teams didn't do, notably with his diet, and I think he's probably much happier there.

Yea I think it was kind of the perfect storm scenario that you almost never see happen for a player that's strayed that far from reality.

if the Mavs had won both games nothing would’ve changed

Completely besides the point. The intention and lack of competitive integrity was the same regardless of what happened outside of their control.

there’s just zero chance youre arguing this in good faith, you keep this same energy for every team that tanked for an entire season, let alone two games for a now key piece?

Im absolutely arguing in good faith. I do hate tanking across all sports in all forms, and this was just the most glaring version of it where coaches are also not trying to win. At the very least, in most cases, its the GM that is putting together a team that will fail, but the coaches and players are trying to win. Adding the coach into the plan is just an extra level.

Jortles talked a lot of shit about it at the time. He has that energy for any team bombing out of the playoffs over a top-10 pick protection, rest assured.
I guess I respect it then lol, but like Pablo said it was the right move and it’s paying dividends, and I don’t think anyone in the franchise who was pissed last year (read: Luka) gives a damn now

My obvious finals locks: Luka has the most points of anyone, and the most whines to the officials. Tatum has a couple of huge games but also has a couple of crumby ones. Brown looks dominant at times but disappears at others. Kyrie has a nice series and is able to get to the hole at get buckets at will in important situations. The Mavs will force Al Horford to switch onto guards at every opportunity and will make him look silly, but he'll do what he always does and be solid overall. This will not be a sweep and will probably go at least 6 games.
What else? I need to unlock my Fanduel account, haven't touched it in months and there's money just sitting there.
