Oh ok, that makes sense.
It does seem weird to include the offspring in the clue if his little monkey-kid wouldn't be playing, but I don't know djjd's usual ways of making clues. Does he normally include parts in clues that don't refer to musicians?

If the answer to the clue is indeed Les Claypool what better than make the clue refer to the picture Bonnaroo is using in his bio?
I think Les Claypool is probably it. Another thing to consider is that it is almost a guarantee he will be there. In the history of Bonnaroo he has never not performed 2 years in a row.

As he is fond of saying, he's been there about 18 times.
Well.....J.G. Thirlwell on the farm. That would be the day! I still have my Foetus albums.
Answer to clue no.1 is Les Claypool. I'm 99% on that.
Edit: To dispel any misunderstanding, I was disparaging *my* own guess for Foetus being the answer. Thank you, monkeyjoy, for entertaining my guess, but both you and I know there's little chance Foetus will be on the farm.

I met Les in 2008 at his movie thing. I love him so much! The Oddity Faire tour was crazy ~ here it was Les + DeVotchka + Saul Willams! Completely fab!

I hope Les Claypool (in whatever form) is the answer. Considering I am a huge Claypool/Primus fan, I can't believe he never crossed my mind once while thinking about this clue.
I thought I had something good with the Goodie Mobs 'One Monkey Don't Stop No Show' then going to OutKast (they're both part of the Dungeon Family organization). It would work if one of OutKast's influences was the Goodie Mob.
I tried...
Although... OutKast is rumored to be releasing a new album this year...

That isn't a bad idea. I love Claypool, but would much rather catch Outkast.

Les's son would have been 10 when that picture was taken, so you're probably right that that's him in the pic.
And now that I'm thinking about it more, nothing about the clue says the warmest monkey and his offspring are the act that's playing Bonnaroo - it's possible that the clue is describing a picture of the artist in question. I still think it's a bit of a stretch to say Les would be the one monkey that was the warmest based on that picture, but I'm intrigued by the possibility.
If Claypool is the answer to this clue, it would be quite different from any clue we've had in the past, and would therefore probably mean interesting things for the rest of this year's clues. It being so different from past clues is part of what's making me hesitant to buy into it, but I'm really curious!

Jakob Dylan has a new album coming out in 2010, produced by T-Bone Burnett too. Maybe he'll be back on the farm (all time favorite performer for me w/ or w/o The Wallflowers - this would make me ecstatic!)
Now if you told that monkey who the headliner is, what would his first response be?
The hear no evil monkey is the warmest 'cause he has his ears covered. If you tell him who the headliner is, he responds, "who?" Told multiple times, his responses will be "who?" "what?" "who?" "what?" Who on What?
Thats what I was going for!!!
But for me to be the warmest monkey I would deffinately need
I was pondering this clue earlier tonight, and I think I'm in the George Jones camp on this one. The one monkey that was the warmest and his offspring
I saw some people trying to make a connection between the clue & George Jones earlier, but it seemed the "warmest" part couldn't fit. I think I see how it does now, though.
We all know the hot/cold game, right? Where you're trying to figure out something's location, and another person tells you you're getting colder, hotter... or even - as a lesser degree - warmer. If you're going to win at that game - i.e. get warmer - you have to move around, investigate things... you know, be curious.
Warmer points to curious, in which case the monkey is George... a musical George playing with offspring (as someone previously mentioned) would be George Jones and his daughter.
At least, that's my best interpretation of the clue as things currently stand... as always, I could be dead wrong here.
I still think it's a bit of a stretch to say Les would be the one monkey that was the warmest based on that picture, but I'm intrigued by the possibility.
Les' overcoat is open. His shirt is open a good way down from the collar and his cuffs are unbuttoned. His body posture and state of dress suggest he's feeling pretty warm, especially when compared to the crouched creature huddled under the bush. Small details, I know.
I'd love to see Les on the farm again, and I know this is a little far fetched, but how about this. Bright Eyes was the nickname given to Taylor in Planet of the Apes. So what about Conor Oberst (the one monkey), Jim James (who was warmest), and M Ward (offspring). Monsters of Folk? Like I said, a little out there, just a thought...
in all honesty, i was looking back on pepper's website at past clues and they are all soooo obscure in my opinion. i have this weird feeling it will turn out to be random like the dirty projectors or something.
He's on his way home this afternoon but it's not like he couldn't have intervened from elsewhere if he wanted to thanks to the wonderful internet. I think that the only thing his trip has done was delay Clue 2.
