"My major issue with the Jay-Z logic is the clue reads "monkey + offspring" not "monkey's offspring". Mike Nesmith's name would have to work in to the answer too."
um according to mike nesmith's webpage, be abbreviates his last name as neZ. note the Z --> Jay-Z
DJJD all but eliminated Jay-Z from the discussion.
I'm loving the Ingrid Michaelson guess. It seems to be the most logical of anything I've heard so far (basically the most confusing interpretations EVER, )
I thought of that. CLICK click click (or, in the first clue, click clickclick) would represent the letter D. (Dash - dot - dot)
DjjD mentioned Clarksville, like we're on the clue train to Clarksville. The clicks could be like the sound of a train traveling on tracks, AND be analogous to eye blinks; one blink for yes, two blinks for no. The all capital CLICK may mean a big yes. But, I'm just guessing. If true, I don't know how to sync them up with responses.

Hmm, it seems so convoluted (probably because I've been staring at it for three days), but in reality, when you step back, it seems pretty clear.
Hey DJJD, how 'bout a nod or SOMETHING? The Ingrid MICHAEL SON guess deserves SOME kind of Yea or Nay.
Anyway, the way the clue is worded, it sounds like if we do figure out what the warmest monkey means, the next step is "(something) and son" or "(something) junior" or whatever. Not saying that the act we're looking for is along those lines, just that I'm thinking that's the next step.
He did say PlasticPepper was on the right track. I'm thinking it's when she said "something and son". That's why I like the Ingrid Michaelson answer. Maybe it wasn't something AND son it was something + son, like hawking508 said earlier.
he was big in san fran in the 50's, the pranksters were in the 60's. hes considered more of a bridge of the gap between beat and hippie.
plus i read the kool aid acid test and he was nowhere to be found, and that is basically a history of the pranksers and the further trips
The Merry Pranksters were a group of people who formed around American author Ken Kesey in 1964 and sometimes lived communally at his homes in California and Oregon. The group promoted the use of psychedelic drugs. Ken Kesey and The Merry Pranksters are noted for the sociological significance of a lengthy road trip they took in the summer of 1964,[citation needed] traveling across the United States in a psychedelic painted school bus enigmatically labeled "Furthur" with two u's. Their early escapades were chronicled by Tom Wolfe in The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.
Notable members include Kesey's best friend Ken Babbs and Neal Cassady, Carolyn Adams (also known as Mountain Girl), Allen Ginsberg, Wavy Gravy, Paul Krassner, Stewart Brand, Del Close, Paul Foster, Kentucky Fab Five authors Ed McClanahan (AKA "Captain Kentucky") and Gurney Norman, George Walker, Sandy Lehmann-Haupt, John Page Browning (also known as Rampage or the Cadaverous Cowboy) and others.

hey all, longtime lurker finally chippin in my 2 cents
I like the ingrid michaelson thought but here's a little different interpretation of
The one monkey that was the warmest and his offspring
Arctic Monkey's frontman Alex Turner formed a band with The Rascal's frontman Miles Kane. The two met when the Arctic Monkeys were touring and playing with Kane's previous band THE LITTLE FLAMES......
a little bit of a stretch but these all seem to be....Alex Turner is the warmest MONKEY because he's playing in a band with a guy from the little flames....his offspring is the new band they formed The Last Shadow Puppets??
