I am 36 (37 in May). I took 3 older children last year and seemed all alone in a big pond. I am waiting on the line-up to know if I plan to break the bank again this year. If there is any DMB on the line, I will sit out
Both my better half and self fit this thread. Second year for us. Hope some of the rumored bands are true and some aren't. I know we'll both have a great time either way
Same here...I hope some rumored bands are true and some aren't. Still, I am ready for a great time...have tickets for myself and my 2 daughters...since both are going I will be more comfortable letting them go do their own thing some of the time while I do mine this year. Not sure who will be keeping who out of trouble exactly though!
It will be interesting to see when the lineup comes out - I think I am more excited than the kids....lol....
There are actually a bunch of us that are 40 and over on Inforoo - eventually they will make themselves known - there is another thread around here somewhere that deals with this - but I just don't have the time or energy to hunt it down
While I'm not over 40, I am older than alot of the general crowd at 37. This year will be Roo no. 7 for me. Fortunate for me my wife is alot yonger and loves this festival which means I have many more years to go.
My husband is 51 and I'm not far behind. We love the festival - 4 years - although this year we can't make it due to a son's graduation. We'll be back next year, though. Takes us a few months of training to get in shape for the marathon but we love every minute of it. Have fun! See you in '11.
over forty and once again I will be going solo...the best present I ever gave myself was 4 days alone on the farm...well your never actually alone are you?
Yea, I may be older than most those around me, but I don't feel it. Nor, am I treated that way. I'm 41, wifey is a little less than that. It'll be my 4th and my wife's 2nd. Starting to get excited. Hoping for a great lineup.
glad to hear from y'all...I really wish I could have made it before last year but there was always something that prevented me from planning the trip (little thing called work, money, etc) . I think my daughter's friend bailing on her on Thursday of last year and her inviting me on the spur of the moment did not give me time to find an excuse not to go...lol. She had only known she was going for a day or two prior - so we threw together some goods in the space of an evening and hit the road...not only did we survive but I think we did pretty well.
I have been going to concerts since my mid-teens - I grew up in Macon back when the ABB was in its heyday and music has remained an important part of my life. Never been to a festival till last year though....I do remember back in 1969 when the Atlanta Pop Festival was in Byron, just south of Macon...I was only 9 that summer and my father drove stepbrothers and I down there to "see the hippies"...lol...I knew then that I was a festival girl!
I felt so at home lat year at Roo and had such a great time. I will never miss another one if its up to me. I hope that I get to meet some of you fine people from this board. inforoo is my new addiction...lol
Hey I am going to be 35 this year and this is my 5th roo and plan on going every year a good time is to be had for everyone regardless of age the only thing that I have to add to this thread is that if roo was in September I would celebrate my B-Day there hats of to the old skool let them set the example for us otherwise we will wake up in a suburb one day wondering where the magic went. The answer it never goes away!!!!!!! Cya at the Farm everybody

43 year old going to my 4th Bonnaroo this year. Decided to attend in 2006 when Radiohead (my favorite band ever) was named as a headliner and fell in love with the place. Can't wait for this year's lineup, I think its going to be a big one. Hoping for Neil Young, Paul Simon, and LCD Soundsystem. You will see many people in our age bracket throughout the weekend. We haven't brought our kids yet even though they would have a blast. Might bring my 17 year old if some of his fave bands are performing. See you on the farm!
My dad is 68 and my mom 62. They have been listening to my husband and I rave about the festival for 5 years now and from what they've been saying, it sounds like this is the first year they are seriously considering attending.
I'm happy because my dad attended the original Woodstock and is a true hippie and music-lover at heart. I'm a little concerned though, because my mom is not your typical "rough it" kind of lady and I remember how exhausting our first year was.
If they do decide to go I'm recommending RV and/or VIP or staying at a hotel and driving in.
I might send them over to inforoo as well to get them as informed as possible
Turned 53 today, Feb. 3rd. Already purchased tickets for my 4th 'Roo. It's the fountain of youth I tell ya. Makes me feel younger just thinking about it.
43. All ready got my ticket for this year. Been to '06,'07,'09 so this will be my fourth. I enjoy doing roo solo and setting up in Camping Only. The current forum photo with the blue fence was taken my me.
Maybe we need meet up sometime Id like to get to know some new people. Usually its just me and my wife hanging out the whole time, would love to meet some fellow old rooers. haha

Your dad is older then me, but not a whole lot. We have done the roo and always camped but it seemed to be sort of hard on my lady the last year. We also have done wakarusa, then drove to the roo and did that. I have to say I was happy when we got home. three weeks camping and two fests in a row is quite a lot to do. So squirrel tell you parents to at least consider it. I went to woodstock too so we can tell old tales lol .... cr*****
I'm 58--been to every roo.Grew up in NJ but lived in chattanooga area for 30 years soI've got a 1 hour ride to Manchester.Luckily I married to a fellow music "nutress" and we still travel--ACL-Wanee-AllGood-Jazz Fest. As far as the roo--the older you get the more comforts you want--so we do it up right (with about 10 others)--- a far cry from the original Woodstock when I arrived with a backpack and nothing else (17 and stupid).Thousands of concerts since then but the 2nd night of Janis Joplin-Sly and The Family Stone-The Who (monstrous with the sun rising behind them)--Jefferson Airplane coming out at 8am---then a break of a few hours and then the legendary JoeCocker set--followed by the worlds comin to an end thunderstorms and lightning---kinda like last years opening night (thurs) at Bonnaroo by harder. Favorite Bonnaroo moments----Panic '02 with Dottie Peoples.......the great John Prine winning over a big crowd----My Morning Jacket '04-'06--sound Tribe late nite '05---Rob't Randolph '04 late nite-- moe.-'06--------------Worst---The Police
I didn't start going to Roo until I turned 40 and this will be our third. Couldn't buy presale because we had to wait for vacation time to be approved so I'll be busy on Tuesday.
right now everyone's focus is on the lineup and trying to stay employed while we spend way too much time on this and other forums....
but once we know who's on what, which, et al.....let's plan an old folks meetup, or several....anybody game?
I would love to meet some fun people my age and older. the kids are fun and I love them, and I'm a kid at heart, but....someone who gets most of my references would be a relief.
I'm 48 and this will be my 6th Bonnaroo. Just remember to bring a good fold up chair. I can't stand, walk, and dance for 15 hours straight anymore.
As far as a meet up amongst the oldsters, you should plan on going to the inforoo brunch. You'll meet a good cross section of the folks from this site there.
