New festival in Maine just announced its first two artists:
Flaming Lips Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi
Ehhh, not a big Flaming Lips, guy, but I love Trucks and there's a pretty strong rumor circulating that Furthur will be the July 4th headliner. Doooooooope!
I was planning on Rothing it down this year for the 4th, but Maine is pretty awesome country and is driving distance from NYC. I might have to make a trek up to New England, depending on how the rest of the lineup shakes out.

this might be my alternative to roo this year. sucks to say that but im pretty sure im not going now, after mulling the lineup over for a day its really not enough to get me to spend the money and do all that traveling, especially considering the FLips are one of the biggest draws for me
is this the first year of this festival? havent heard of it till recently

"More bands (will be announced on) Feb. 19 along with a major headliner," promoter Frank Chandler said. "But we wanted to announce these two as a show of good faith that this will be a great event. We won't have Phish because Oxford can't handle Phish, but we're going to have talent just short of that level.
Just short of that level, veddy interesting. I'm hoping for good things with this lineup. The area is gorgeous, the regular camping looks good, VIP camping is relatively cheap (and has a full bar!), and Maine is not wretched hot in the summer. Hurry up, Friday!

5:45 is WAY better than the 13+ hour drive Rothbury would have been, and therefore way more of a possibility for me so close to Bonnaroo
The Lips/Derek Trucks/Susan Tedeschi are almost enough for me right there. Maine is a great state for a festival. Looking at their website, I can't really find any negatives at all. Pending the full lineup, if I did a second camping fest this Summer, I think this would be the one.

Hear, hear. Definitely trying to head up to Oxford this summer. Their website seems full of good vibes and genuineness. Check out the facebook group at www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=90647306489&ref=mf ; it's only reinforcing my faith in this festival. All of their responses are really fast, helpful, and humble.

Agreed, their Facebook group is really constructive. They're asking us for our opinions a lot and we're giving 'em out like trick-or-treat candy. They seem receptive to new ideas and I have a hunch that it'll make for a fun, well-run inaugural festie. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a big Furthur announcement later this week and I'll be one happy camper, literally.

This looks like something that could be really fun. I wish it was a little cheaper, maybe knock 50 bucks off the price tag. Everyone gets on Roo ticket prices, but there is SO MUCH going on for your 280. These are 250 with camping, and it seems unlikely they'll fit in only 30 dollars less fun. HOWEVER, I have a place 45 minutes from Oxford, which makes this a much much easier drive from MA than to TN. We'll see how the lineup pans out for this and All Good- looks like I'll be getting my Derek and Susan fix from Mountain Jam, but I love the Lips. Whoever gets Further might be my choice between this and AG.
Agreed, after some thought. Plus, it's the first year so there's tons of overhead for all the equipment they won't need to buy from here on out that they need to cover this year.
But, it's all for naught. James Taylor is playing on the 3rd and I've already had my ticket purchased for me, so as much as I might rather be at a festy than Tanglewood, such is my fate. Damn. I hope this does well this summer so I can check it out next year.
"Officially, the release is scheduled for Friday morning the 19th, but we should have it on the website and be sending an email to people who are signed onto the website email list, by midnight Thursday evening." from the Nateva facebook group

This festival seems amazing on the surface - i can't wait to go!
its a bit of a shame, since im thinking something along the lines of rooconteur - with this and vibes within a few hours of my house - not to mention mountain jam...

...do i need roo?
It's like pulling off a band-aid. I said "No roo for me" loudly enough and with enough conviction that now, barring any monumentally awesome adds to the Roo lineup, I'm sticking to the Northeast.

seems like a lot of people are having this issue this year, including my self. people are kind of disenchanted with the roo lineup this year and are getting excited about other fests. seems like for every other fest there are people that are saying goodbye roo.

That lineup is really good but I need to see a few more bands on there before I spend over $200 for a ticket. All those bands are great.....but I need a few more acts to make me seriously think about going. I'm paying almost $200 for Mountain Jam and have maaaany more acts i'm excited for.
