Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I purchased a kilt two years ago. it is a Mountain hardware hiking kilt. After some apprehension, I have worn it the last two years and WOW it is so much cooler than cargo shorts and just as comfy as running shorts. I plan to get another one or possibly a bit shorter running type skirt to wear as well.
Lots of good compliments on it and NEVER any negatives from anyone. they are about $50 so not cheap but the fabric is moisture wicking and works great with a pack all day.
My dad is an avid hiker (Appalachian Trail, currently the Camino in Spain) and he will ONLY hike in kilts now. They would be great for Bonnaroo!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I'm looking for a pair of black harem-ish pants that are light and flowy but also don't show off the junk. I have a lot (way too much) leeway with what I'm allowed to wear at work, and could probably get away with something like the pic below as long as it leave little to the imagination and isn't drop-crotch or TOO billowy. Preferably with elastic/inside drawstring and pockets.
I figured you dirty hippies might be able to help.

They would go great with a pair of these
I'm sure Tom's is knocking those off from a more authentic brand/style.

Didn’t know this thread existed. I’ve been getting a lot of clothes recently and I’ll post some of them later. Most notably, a bomber jacket and 90s Umbro shorts.

been on a clothing hiatus since i've lost a bunch of weight. bought a few BB dress shirts to carry me through work without ridiculous billowing, but hoping to re-up my oxfords in a proper size over the next few months. looking at either proper cloth for the exact fit i want or Taylor Stitch for a pretty good fit and the great details I love.
i'm also pretty crazy about this leather jacket in the workshop but the price is too high:
and i just now noticed TS has stocked this seasons Yosemite shirts. Looks like the standard buffalo plaid, but also black, which is a color I haven't seen before in the Yosemite. The Yosemite is absolutely the softest and most comfortable shirt cold-weather shirt I own. Way better than a standard flannel.

oh man, those old school checkerboard umbros were a must-have for every self-respecting athletic dude's wardrobe when I was in elementary school. I think I had navy, royal blue, and red ones.
I'm 5"11' 170lbs 40.5in chest, with unusually short arms (32" in dress shirts), and the Lazio jacket fit me very well. Great if not perfect fit in the shoulders, perfect midsection fit (nice V shape when buttoned without getting that X crease near the button). And the sleeves were only slightly too long, so slight I didn't bother to get them altered.
This was a mix and match suit so I was able to order a 32" waist. I have slim legs and the fit drapes nicely and is snug and flattering. All I had to do was get them hemmed.
it's the best deal you can get in suiting. fully canvassed and pure wool s110s for less than $600. if you need a suit check them out.
----
in other news i picked up a few fall/winter shirts:
the TS yosemite shirt is a favorite of mine, i'd previously owned it in a larger size. M fits well but the sleeves are too long. Surprised to find I like the Glacier shirt even more than the Yosemite. both are currently getting the sleeves shortened.
the LL Bean was a nice surprise. they are cut way big, the small fits me perfectly. sleeves aren't too short either, so no alterations required.
----
currently on the hunt for a new winter coat or jacket of some kind, i'm all over the place on this.
edit: also just ordered a couple of Charles Tyrwhitt dress shirts. i've always been a Brooks Brothers dress shirt guy but am hunting for something with a slimmer cut. went with a slim 15.5/32, we'll see how they fit.

Nice man, I bought my first Suit Supply suit earlier this year and I really like it. I was able to go into the store though and had a great experience. Very chill salespeople and they tailored it really well and quickly. I even had to make a second adjustment and they just did it right there in the store.
And I really appreciate you turning me onto Taylor Stitch. Their shirts fit me perfectly which is weird because I have a big chest and short arms. I've actually had my my eye on that glacier shirt for a minute haha.
I grabbed both of these recently along with a few button downs from the thrift store.

I've heard great things about suit supply, though I haven't gotten anything from them. I guess I'm lucky in that I fit almost perfectly what J.Crew thinks a 38R body should be, so I'm able to just grab those off the rack and go. One of my arms is slightly shorter than the other, so ideally I need to shorten one of the sleeves, but it's really not too noticeable. CT is my go-to for dress shirts, because between the different cuts and neck/sleeve sizes, I can get a shirt that fits almost perfectly. My biggest gripe with them is no gauntlet button on the sleeves - so if you roll your sleeves up at all they can get a bit loosy.
But I don't work at a fancy law firm anymore, so I don't really wear my suits or CT shirts that often. I technically work in a "business casual" environment, where slacks and a dress shirt are the norm. But everyone I work with are total nerds, so the lines around "apprpriate attire" are very blurry. It's not uncommon to see dudes wearing white nike socks with "dress" shoes, black waiter style dress pants, and a polo shirt with a giant american eagle logo emblazoned on it. So I've been sticking to the much more casual side of business casual (chinos vs. slacks, OCBDs vs. Poplin, my birkenstocks vs. my cap toes, etc.).

Slightly related, 99% Invisible has a mini-series on fashion right now and it is super interesting. It's about the history and decision making that went into the clothing we see every day.

On this same topic, I recently watched Fresh Dressed on Netflix and really enjoyed it. History of the evolution of streetwear in hip hop, Dapper Dan to Kanye

Oh cool! Thanks for the heads up. Added it to my list.

I don't wear suits a lot either, exemplified by the fact that when i suddenly needed one this week, the two suits i did own were way too big. i was looking like david byrne in those suits. in addition to ordering a bunch of suits from suitsupply i ordered one from j crew, but i'll be returning it. fit is good but the sleeves are long. an easy alteration but no reason for me to do that now that i know suitsupply sleeves fit me reasonably well.
and i'm in a business casual office as well, not quite as casual as what you are describing, but generally chinos and button downs. no sneakers but people wear pretty casual leather shoes, mocs and the like. style and fit definitely isn't a priority for most of the people i work with. i keep it pretty conservative but i like my allen edmonds shoes and properly fitting shirts and pants.
Would rather this question be open to everyone, but I only see separate threads for guys and gals so I'll just ask here:
Anyone have any plans for what they're wearing to Roo this year?
I'm a very low-key person and typically like as little attention on me as possible. I've been to Bonnaroo twice ('16 and '18) and both times just wore a t-shirt/tank top and shorts/bathing suit with a cap on everyday. It worked fine, but this year I really want to try to have fun with it and use this as an opportunity to break out of my shell a bit. I've found on the couple occasions I've dressed out of my comfort zone for Halloween parties, etc. that I actually ended up feeling less anxious than I normally would. Perhaps because I feel more incognito or just have a boost of confidence. I was also with friends on those occasions though, while I will be going to Roo solo, so hopefully I'll still feel up for it.
So this year so far I've bought a couple button-down shirts with floral and watercolor patterns that I plan to wear open, a hooded shawl I got on Etsy, some cool hexagonal/hive neon pink/blue light-up glasses, and a short black kimono with trippy faces (reminiscent of the Disclosure face for reference) on it to wear at night. Oh and some trippy socks that match the black and rainbow Roo theme. Right now there's really no direction or theme lol, kinda just buying things I like the look of and figuring it out later.
Anybody else planning any fun outfits or things you typically wouldn't wear, or just going purely for comfort?
Outfits usually goes shorts and a soft t shirt. Night time once it gets chilly I throw my cow onesie on, if it’s too hot I just tie the top of it around my waist.
Im partial to Hawaiian/aloha shirts. Built for comfort, can button/unbutton as needed. They look cool. I'm lucky that I was able to cop a couple legit silk blends too.
Usually I bring a couple quicksilver swim trunks with a built in liner and wash/rotate them throughout the weekend. Quick dry, pockets, they're fine.
But, I bought some shorts from bearbottom over the pandy and they're all I wear now. Look like chinos, but stretchy and quick dry (amphibious, as they say). I had a laundering issue and customer service was quick and sent me a gift certificate so I picked up some of their stretch swim shorts and they're the best swim trunks I've ever owned.
One year (2009?) I was shirtless and sweaty at the which stage and someone had a Ziploc full of glitter and threw a handful into the crowd just as she walked by me. I caught like 75% of it right in the chest/neck/left side of my face. I was glittered all weekend and I still find specs of it in my tent to this day.
I incorporate outfit changes into my day at Roo. For each day I have multiple outfits with coordinating tops and bottoms with both long and short options to be fully prepared for the weather. I also incorporate alternate shirts to go with the bottoms just in case the vibe isn't right when I do my AM and PM vibe check. Because if your fit don't fit the vibe, then that's a bummer, man. I also try to incorporate something flowy; usually I drape my Buddha tapestry around me like a shawl (warmth, easily removable, flowy, vibes), though last year I also borrowed a cape that I really enjoyed. This year I may don a collar of purple feathers for an added layer of extravagance. I've gone all out with a full-body morph suit lined with el-wire; I've traversed Centeroo in nary but my skivvies as well. Roo is a good place to wear whatever the fuck makes you happy.

I like it! That's what I'm trying to go for. Well not the skivvies, but the rest of it lol. But yeah I definitely agree about needing to feel the vibe. I don't have any "cool" festival wear, so I'm trying to order stuff now so I have time to try things and figure out what works for me.
Edit: Heyyyy I'm no longer a 2-star schmuck! Looks good.
