this is like me at the as tall as lions show last weekend. i thought the crowd hated them, i thought it was horrible. the band said it was their best show of the tour so far and their merch table was jumping after the show. it's all about perception. from where i was standing it was a catastrophe. from where you are standing bonnaroo is awful this year and they are hurting. from where they are standing, they have already sold 3 tiers of the tickets and are in great shape to sell out this year. and they are not even done.
Last year's third tier sold out in about an hour... the year before in about 5-10 minutes. I know this from personal experience trying to get tickets.
I also ready somewhere that up to 3rd tier is only 20,000 tickets. Don't know the 100 percent validity to that though.

seems like they could simply lower the number of third tier tickets to make it look like tickets are selling faster than they are and thus jack up demand
I'm guessing that without significants adds, this will lowest attended 'Roo in recent history.
possibly. how far back in "recent history" are we looking though?
We don't have to go back too far, because 2008 was the lowest attendance of all the years so far, at 65,000. So 08 was both recent and historical, I suppose.
Who gives a quack about lineup additions? The Bonnaroo Salon is back again this year!!!!!!
I'm sold.
Best. Bonnaroo. EVER!!
Garnier Fructis has ruined Bonnaroo's vibe. Who wants their wooks to have shiny feathered hair? Not me. Oh yeah and Garnier Frutis is the parent company of MTV and Bravo.

Where can I find attendance numbers for each year?

well it appears instead of additions, we are actually getting subtractions. somebody over in the bonnaroo thread pointed out aeroplane was no longer on the lineup, and unless i missed them they are gone.

Capps says "about" 70,000 in that article, and he's clearly not citing actual figures. Many sources say 65,000. The point remains that 2008 had the lowest attendance of any year.

Exact numbers are difficult or impossible to find becuase they vary depending on the sources you use, but most figures you can find are in these ranges:

IF I remember right...right when tickets went back on sale for 09 ( & I mean 12:00 on the dot) tier two was unavailable. I don't think they were announced to be sold out until some min. later, but all of the tickets were being bought up. I remember because I had to get teir three.

they were never on the lineup. they posted on facebook that they are playing, but bonnaroo never announced them.
God, 2004 was ridiculous. It definitely felt like over 100,000. Never seen so many wooks in my life. Shakedown street was more like a metropolis that year.

1. I hope no one goes aside from me and my friends......on second thought, if that happened, I'd feel bad for the headliners cause they'd be playing to no one while we napped and got ready for late night.
2. Do you really care that much how many people are going? Go if you like the music....don't go if you don't like the music....why sit here and go "see Bonnaroo...you suck cause you didn't book my favorite band!"
3. Bonnaroo sucks cause they didn't book Rancid (my favorite band).
4. Last year we sat in 8 hours of traffic to get in.....so please....just stay home.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
You realize the festival needs paying customers to be sustainable right, the more people, the better the chance that it comes back every year.
you realize that there is no danger of this fest not coming back right? even if everyone on this board decided to not to go. we would all be replaced by another crowd of people. bonnaroo will be fine.

Are you sure....I thought if Neil Young wasn't coming they were going to cancel it and turn the farm into a grief center for folks that are so into their own thing that they can't let other people be into theirs.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
