The Pirates announced that Phil Coyne passed away today at 102 years old. Coyne was employed as an usher by the Pirates for 81 years - from Forbes Field in 1936 to his last season at PNC Park as a 99 year old in 2017.
Even Phil Coyne couldn't stomach the 133rd edition of the Pittsburgh Baseball Club, though I think he took the easy way out. The rest of us will suffer.

On Sunday, I started betting $10 a game against the Pirates ML. They have won 3 of their last 4. I think I'd be fine if I ended up like a few hundred in the hole because the Pirates had a 95 win season out of nowhere. That's not going to happen, but still.
I honestly don't know what the difference is. I just know that the sticky stuff makes the RPMs go up and the balls less predictable for not only the batter but also the pitcher.
Terrible moment to throw a slider on 0-2. I mean he wants him to chase but at that point you have a higher likelihood of losing some command and control anyway cause youre on adrenaline and so close to ending the game. Put a curve on the outside corner and see if the ump gives it to you. Might even get a pop up.
Verdugo has been decent, but man I wish Boston had kept Mookie.
Verdugo is a stud man. He's someone the Sox can build around. He can hit well, field well, and has a cannon for an arm. Can hit lefties too. Also seems like a really cool dude from the below clip. Wish the Dodgers could have kept him and but obviously Mookie is one of the top players in the game. Basically Trout than Mookie.
