No one has ever cared less about money than Shohei. I'm joking.
The 10% interest rate that the MLB CBA has does seem like an exploit to me, given the average rate of inflation is 3.3%? He's gonna get his money and the Dodgers are going to game the league on a huge tax bill.
And theres nothing to stop then from doing it again.

Cancel baseball. Teams shouldnt be allowed to do these things. Spending money is bad for the sport without a salary cap.
???
Spending money is never bad as it redistributes the wealth the game generates from the owners to the players. As a fan of a small market team with laughable ownership, I understand the desire for a salary cap, but as a union guy, give the players all the money.

Just mocking 99% of the mlb idiots who hate the Dodgers for making moves. La was never gonna get him on a deal like anyway.
Overspending on good relievers is generally a pretty decent FA strategy. You're never going to win the deal as it's almost always going to be an overpay, but the likelihood of Hader not being super valuable for the next 5 years is really low.
I think you can cobble a bullpen together without spending, but if you're going to blow $100mm in FA, I think having it go to a tippy top relief guy is a better use then some of these reclamation projects. Particularly for the postseason where they are pitching a bigger % of the innings.
