So happy Nando and Kim got their first career Gold Gloves! Especially Fernando's first year in RF. Nice to have some good news from a disaster disappointment of a season. Now just need Snell's Cy Young before he lands somewhere else...
Oh and a freaking manager. Benji Gil is most exciting to me, trying not to get my hopes up though.

I likewise am thrilled for Ke'bryan Hayes gold glove at 3B. Watching him play the hot corner has given me a new appreciation for defense. I think he's close to being, if not is, the best defensive player in the league.

I feel like they're going to crack down on the luxury cap/deferral workaround and it'll screw over anyone from making this type of contract in the future. Which sucks for everyone else.
PS as a Padres fan this timeline sucks and we really need some good news. Didn't make it to the playoffs. Lost our deeply deeply deeply beloved owner to cancer, lost our Cy Young pitcher, lost Soto, and don't have much to show for it.... will have to contend with Ohtani for the next decade. Have been shit on left and right for *checks notes* spending money... WHAT'S NEXT, MLB GODS?

The deferred payments, easily the most in baseball history, permits the Dodgers to lower their luxury-tax salary from $70 million to just $46 million a year. The annual salary is calculated at $28 million because of the 10% interest rate used by the Basic Agreement.
Almost every player talks about all they want to do is win, but he seems to be putting his money (or lack thereof) where his mouth is. To defer that much is pretty crazy, even if he gets a shit ton of $ off the field with endorsements and all that. He clearly doesn't want to hamper other free agent signings... bring on Yamamoto!

No one has ever cared less about money than Shohei. I'm joking.
The 10% interest rate that the MLB CBA has does seem like an exploit to me, given the average rate of inflation is 3.3%? He's gonna get his money and the Dodgers are going to game the league on a huge tax bill.
