Has anyone listened to the new album?? I hear things. Good things.
I've listened to it several times. Nerd Rock? Sure. But I think at least six enjoyable tracks on the new album. Not conflict proof if they show up on the Farm but I would try to check them out. They did four songs of the new album earlier this week on two Carson Daly shows if you care to check that out.
Saw them at Riot Fest Chicago when they did the Blue Album, but prior to launching into it they played a few other songs and one was "Back to the Shack". Despite Rivers Cuomo having an issue at the beginning of the set with his ears (he ended up ripping them out), I thought they sounded great. I would looooooove to see them again at Roo

I've given the new album several listens since it was released, and I enjoy it more and more with each listen. At this point, I think EWBAITE is at least as good as Green and Maladroit, and probably their best album since Pinkerton. As a big Weezer fan, it's a welcome change after four straight disappointing albums. I've heard mixed reviews about their 2010 performance, but I would love to see them get a shot at redemption. They played a handful of festivals this year and I expect them to be on the festival circuit again next year.
I was reading thru the earlier thread and it sounds like I would have missed them in 2010. I wasn't at Roo that year but I bet the majority of people were watching Beck.
We were discussing this conflict a few weeks ago on this board. It was Jeff Beck, not Beck playing opposite Weezer. I'm not sure how the crowd was divided, but I'd be willing to bet there were quite a few more people at What watching Dead Weather open for Stevie in that time slot. I was at That watching John Prine because I had been at that folk themed stage all day. Kinda wish I had gone to Jeff Beck 'cause I heard it was awesome. I'm sure Weezer put on a good show too.
I skipped Jeff Beck because I saw him open for Panic a few weeks earlier, and went to see Weezer mostly because they were a bucket-list band. I had low expectations, honestly, after having mostly written them off after the green album. but I thought the show was great. Rivers seemed energetic and excited. He put on a blonde wig and played some Gaga, and they covered Kids by MGMT. A bit of antics that made it interesting. It wasn't a mind-blowing type of show, but it was definitely a goofy singalong nerdgasm.

Yes! I did catch that and i really like what Rivers was saying and the songs sounded great they they played both nights. I DVR Carson Daly every night because he really has the best musical guests, and i've found a lot of great music watching that show.
Love to see a 4 year old thread revived
Well thank you!

Ive heard 'best since Pinkerton' a couple times, and from what ive heard i agree. I admit, ive written them off as teenage anthem rock with the most recent albums, and try to separate that from their earlier albums. Kind of like 2 Weezers. The song titles on Ratitute alone is enough to make me want to not even listen. I think ill buy the new album today, and not digitally! Like from a store!

Put me on board with the sayers of "good things."
EWBAITE broke the bit of the slump they were in. I say the new album sounds like it should've come between Maladroit & Make Believe, chronologically. I'm sure most would say it rivals some combination of those two (and Green?) in quality. Red/Raditude/Hurley, I listened to maybe two or three times and then just kind of let them collect dust, but by comparison EWBAITE still gets somewhat frequent rotation in my car stereo two months later. Not quite a return to peak '90s form, but I'll take a return to the weezer of a decade ago as a bit of redemption from their latter works.
Also worth noting that their first Bonnaroo appearance was when they were touring in support of what I'm sure we can all agree was their worst album Raditude. Love them, but I can't lie: first time I heard that album, I was covering my ears and yelling "Make it stop!" by its third track. So I'm guessing a return to the farm could only be an improvement?
