also... how the hell are you guys drinking these thick ass lagers, stouts, daughts,ales and such in the heat of roo. i switched to pina coladas an mojitos last year, i cant take beer anymore its too hot

For you Bell's beer fans can's are on the horizon. This just came out in the Gazette back home in Kalamazoo. No word on what size or what beers, but can's indeed!!
If coming through Knoxville from out of town, an excellent beer store is the Bearden Beer Market. Just Google it, they have many choices, including several hard to find canned beers.

We'll try to pick up some Yuengling or PBR on the way down to the fest. I'm sure we'll have to stop somewhere in Nashville, as most of the places towards Manchester will be picked over.
Just read that Magic Hat will start releasing #9 in cans!
I found the #9 cans at my local beverage center 2 weeks ago and picked up a pack try.
It was definitely one of the best canned beers I've had and will definitely be my first choice for canned beer in the future. Keep an eye out and I'm sure that you'll be able to find some before Roo.

Now this is my kind of thread. Last year I shipped three cases worth of cans from CA to IA, as we flew into Nashville, and our friends were driving from Iowa. I picked up at least a sixer of every craft beer available to me--Buckbean (Black Noddy, Orange Blossom), Big Sky (Moose Drool, Trout Slayer), Oskar Blues(Old Chub, Dale's Pale, Mama's pils), and I can't remember what else. I also threw in a 12 pack of Olympia for the hell of it, and it was probably the first to be drank, as it was damn hot. The Old Chub took the longest, more than likely due to the heat as well.

Just remembered. Since we'll more than likely be driving down ourselves this year (from NY), we may just load up on all of the trader Joe's cans. Simpler Times Pilsner--made by Minhas in WI--not terrible by any means, and only 3.99 a sixer.
They also make the Name Tag lager, which, is probably pretty much the same beer. Minhas makes like 70 pale lagers, and I'm sure they're all about the same recipe.
I'll have to be on the lookout to see what other rockin' stuff I can find up here in NY.
Bummer about Sierra Nevada and Bells probably not being around this year. Something to look forward to for next year, I suppose.
Ooh, I also wanted to add that (and I'm sure someone has, I just didn't want to look through every page of the thread), Avery has begun canning their beers. I think just three for the time being--Joe's American Pils (which I had, and is solid enough-not near as good as it was on tap, though), IPA (good, though the hops weren't as bright as I remembered), and their White Rascal--I didn't get that one since I'd spent so much damn money that day anyway. I got them a couple months ago outside of Boston at a place called Julio's Liquors.
I've had the Pork Slap and their Heinnieweisse, and neither were memorable for me. Again, (broken record) I don't remember them stamping the canned on dates, so I don't recall the freshness, as they were bonus beers in different trades.
According to ratebeerwww.ratebeer.com/brewers/butternuts-beer-and-ale/6863/, these guys don't make the most fantastic beers. However, the people writing the reviews on the website are pretty snobby when it comes to beer (I am one of them), and aren't necessarily rating a beer on its summer festival drinkability. Maybe they'd be great in that respect. Maybe I should pick up a few sixers and test it out before Bonnaroo. . .
Boulder is canning now? Sweet. What all are they canning? Betty and Hazed and Infused? I could drink a lot of that, esp. if the H&I was fresh.
The canning revolution makes me happy.
All that I saw at my local store was the H&I. It was $20 for the 12pack of cans. Worth every penny IMO.
EDIT: Cans were date coded 0 04 28A 1 BA and case was coded with a drink by of July 20 2011.
The date coded thing I'm not following--could it be it was canned on April 28th? Can't imagine they'd have a drink by date of only 80 days. To me, I'd want to drink a hoppy beer within a month or so of canning, but most breweries put ~ a six month shelf life on their beers, it seems.
Also, $20 seems pricey for a 12 pack of H&I, but that equates to a $10 sixer. They should still knock off a couple bucks for buying in bulk. . .
