Hey sang please show me some festival schedules with MMJ getting three hours.
Yea at Mountain Jam they were scheduled for 2.5 and played exactly that. I was hoping they'd go over but also felt like the 2.5 was enough. I think 2 hours at Roo will be fantastic.
I was standing right next to him. I have a grainy shot from my phone. I was standing right in front of the soundboard platform (it was slightly raised in front of the VIP rail, so I was above everyone and had a perfect view) and turned and he was standing 6 inches away from me. We made eye contact, I gave him a nod and went back to watching the show. I could tell he was relieved another fanboy wasn't about to jump the fence to dry hump him for an autograph.
Not 10 minutes later people caught wind that he was there and started doing exactly that, forcing him to hide in the tent where the sound guys were. Once it got dark again he popped back out, sat on the sound board platform right behind me and start smoking some corn. When we finished rocking out I turned, simply said "I'm a big fan" and went to walk away and he actually shouted at me to hold up and hopped down to give me a handshake. He seems like a legitimately down to earth guy who isn't exactly thrilled when people won't let him just hang out and enjoy one of his favorite bands (he's a Kentucky boy as well).
But still really cool to be sitting there, partying and rocking out, and turn to see Zack Galifianakis doing the exact same thing.

I blew smoke from some corn in Zach's face at Bonnaroo 2008. True story. It was accidental....but it got up all in his and Brian Posehn's face as they walked past me at the What stage. I was happy

They'll get a more energetic/bigger crowd Friday 8-10 then they would have Sunday headlining.
I would like to see them get a headlining spot someday, but I'm not going to go into this set pissed they didn't get another time, 2 hours is a longer set then most get.

they played 2 1/2 at mt jam, but roo could have probably given them 3. their loyalty to wsp cost them again.
A lot of people leave early on Sunday. If MMJ played on Sunday as the closer the crowd probably wouldn't be as big as a virtually unopposed What stage slot on Friday night.
Maybe they wanted to expose MMJ to the biggest crowd they could? Ya know....help them get even bigger?

To me, even though they aren't in the top 3 names.....having the What stage from 8-10 makes them a headliner in my mind. I'm so pumped for this.

This is basically a headlining set for them. Not to mention those who will get to see/hear them that haven't before. Its a great set time. I couldn't be more excited. I'm counting down the minutes until I hear the opening notes of Victory Dance and proceed to lose my mind.

Exactly, 8-10 on the mainstage on Friday night is as close as you can get to headlining without being one of the top 3 listed acts. I would goes as far to say that there may be more people at MMJ from 9-10 then there are at Arcade Fire from 12-12:30. I just see people leaving AF early to get spots for LN sets. I could be very wrong in this circumstance but i've seen it before at big festivals with other acts. For example last year at Sasquatch, by the time MMJ was half done the hill was less then half full as people left to go to other acts.
Last night at Mountain Jam the crowd slimmed down considerably compared to the previous two nights. It's how every festival works, people cut out during the last act to "beat the traffic".
What happened last night at MJ is just a smaller-scaled version of what is undoubtedly going to happen to Widespread this weekend.
As NoD said, the Friday 8-10 set will sport a much more lively crowd.

Great set at Wakarusa! They opened with Victory Dance into Circuital. They played about 2 and a half hours and did at least half the material from the new record. Slow Tune had alot of people slow grinding in the crowd. They didn't do much from Evil Urges, but Touch Me Pt. 2 was fantastic as always. I can't wait to see them again Friday night.
I can't find the video anywhere, but remember when the schedule came out? They made a video invitation right after the schedule was released. They don't do that for every festival they play, so I'm guessing they're pretty excited. And if they're excited, then we should be excited.
The Mountain Jam set looks way better than the Waka set. Hoping we get some older tunes. I'm actually thinking about bringing a "They Ran" sign.
I went to the Circuital show in Louisville. Anyone else think Erykah Badu sounded super awkward with Jacket? Tyrone was really cool, but the rest didn't feel right. Especially when Badu butchered the lyrics to The Day is Coming.

Looks like their setlist is somewhat different on every show. They ended with "One Big Holiday" at Hangout Music Fest. (which was the PERFECT way to close out their show)
