Lil Wayne puts out terrible music at this point in his career, however I do concede that he did have a spark up until the carter II, but everything he has done since then has been disappointing. No need for him on the farm.

Lil Wayne had so much potential. I believed the best rapper alive hype, but he is lame now. Carter III was one of the biggest disappointments I can recall of this decade. Most of his mixtape material prior to that was great, hence the disappointment. His failed attempt at a "rock" album was even worse. The Leak and most of the supposed songs from C3 that came out early weren't very good. And No Ceilings was only ok. His metaphors aren't even that good anymore. Maybe the time spent in "prison" will do something for his music career, but the bar is pretty low. I'm surprised you of all people came to his defense so quickly. I used to be a huge fan of his, but he is moving in reverse. He has/had a lot of talent but you can't tell through the autotune and pop songs. He is revered these days because he can sell records, thats why people want him on their songs.
And note that I wasn't welcoming Drake to Roo with open arms, and said I don't want to hear him rap if he is there.
Yeah I dont consider mixtapes to be albums, (tons of rappers sound great on mixtapes but can't put out a decent album) and looking at the albums he has put out since 2005 I just don't see any progression. I would even argue he has regressed and sounds worse now than ever. But my veiws are admitedly biased. I think he is about as overrated an artist as there is, and I really can't stand the way he flooded the market with his pop rap bull. I would much rather see The Roots, Mos Def, Kanye, Wu-Tang or Red and Meth.

He was in a legit jail, but he wasn't exactly doing hard time. He had COs giving him mp3 players, letting him hang out when everyone else was locked up, etc.
And pop is a bad term when you are supposed to be a gangster rapper with hard lines and powerful metaphors. I don't know how many, self proclaimed, Bloods play air guitar and sing r&b radio tunes.
The fact that his newest albums aren't good has nothing to do with the features, although those aren't helping. His verses are just as disappointing. I hope C4 is a great album, but I would stop way short of calling it another classic for now, considering his last album was far from it. C2 was a classic, probably C1 as well, but every other album before those were good, but not great.
People don't diss Wayne because they get nothing out of it. Everyone knows that they don't respond anyway. And you aren't going to move units being at odds with the most popular rapper. The Clipse, 50, and others have tried to bait them in recent years to no avail. The Clipse went at them in a couple songs, pretty hard, and still got nothing. Sigel and Jones aren't great example because nobody is really checking for them nowadays anyway.
I think he is a great MC, I just wish he would show it.

There is a difference between this pop...
And this pop...
And if you don't think so, you are in denial. I don't have a problem with rappers making accessible records, I just don't like it when one sacrifices the style and credibility that made them good rappers in the first place. And that is exactly what Wayne has done. He's been selling records from jump st. They didn't have to change it up this much.
Now you're being ridiculous. Yeah, there's a difference between "99 Problems" and "I'm Single," but you're cherry-picking here. Jay-Z also released as singles "Sunshine," "Can I Get A...," "Girl's Best Friend," "Hey Papi," "'03 Bonnie and Clyde," "Excuse Me Miss," Show Me What You Got," "Hollywood," "Young Forever" . . . the list goes on.
In that vein, cue up "Sunshine" vs. "Lollipop" and I'll take the latter every time.
Sure, I went a little over the top, but there is still a difference in what you would call pop songs by Jay-z, Nas, etc. and pop songs by Weezy. A noticeable difference. In a lot of instances Wayne pretty much abandons rapping in some songs and even when he does still rap, it seems lackadaisical. And in the cases of most other rappers the "pop" songs are surrounded by more traditional cuts on the album, where Wayne's latest work is almost exclusively "pop." I know I keep referring to pop with a negative connotation, but its only for lack of a better word.
Most of the Jay-z songs you listed were accessible and club friendly, but I would say that a lot of them wouldn't be classified as pop. Sunshine is pretty bad, but I still don't think I would could Lollipop above it as a listen-able song, maybe in a certain setting it would win.
P.S. Thank you for a respectful, credible debate. Those seem few and far between around here.

DAAAAAAAAAAAMN chris hansen, frank stallone, mike vick, oh s#!t i've been mad busy jerkinoff!!
sorry if i don't like to change it up every week or so and use odd tv, sport and horrible movie personalities.
guess i like to 'keep it real up in tha field' like your rap man crush 'young adult convict' wayne.
for shizzle, my nizzle.
Poor comeback. You mocked a "grown man" for using "Lil'" as a performance name/ nickname. I merely pointed out the absurdity of someone posting on an anonymous internet message board with a name that is equally ridiculous. Apparently not only do you keep track of every time I change my name (please, stay off my d*ck), but you were so threatened and/or hurt by my comments that you felt the need to resort to (poorly articulated) juvenile name-calling (unbecoming for a man of your age) and vaguely racist comments about a popular musician. You truly are an impressive specimen.
In the mean time, thanks for throwing a monkey wrench in what had been one of the few semi-reasonable discussions that had been occurring on this board.
And finally, everyone knows that my rap man crush is Kanye West.
a poor comeback according to which 1 of your multiple personalities??
sorry if my comment wasn't articulate enough for you. guess i need to head on back to skool and get me sum more edumacation.
btw, i was just borrowing the monkey wrench from you.

All 8 of us thought it was pretty bad, actually.
Show me a reasonable discussion that I've thrown off course. I only monkey wrench things that weren't fixable to begin with. Now I just like saying those words. Monkey wrench.
can't wait for what #'s 9-25 think. when can we expect to see them??
i did a search on this site for 'toolbags that constantly change their avatar with 2000+ posts who dig kanye, lil' wayne and metal' hoping to pull up some of your recent comments.
surprisingly it took me directly to your profile.
alas, i have better things to do with my time then to weed thru all of your online babble and show you why you've gone from 20+ awesome points down to single digits in recent days.
lol, at first I thought this post was addressed to Druid. I was a little confused, but still lol'd. Then I saw the poster named Cracka A$$ Cracka and SON I AM DISAPPOINT.
