I've never been to an inforoo brunch, but next year I will be there without a doubt. how do I find you guys??
Every year there are always several that cannot find it - I think there has been mention of a meet up at the General Store with a kazoo processional to the Inforoo camp site in Tent Only for the brunch

still doesn't seem real that he's gone, but maybe that's because so many of us are determined to keep him alive and well in memory. i can't wait to see what Sanuk comes up with! i will for sure have a pair or two for myself!
and jess...i'm driving up to All Good, so i could bring a couple cases of water to put labels on. i'd love to hand them out!

I hope to have a design and the first batch printed by then so it should not be a problem.
Not trying to be a Leno here, but I think we have already specifically stated that the article is off the table for discussion.
So with that. Modded
My understanding is this *thread* is modded from such discussion. Am I wrong in understanding discussion can be opened elsewhere on the board?
I think it should be left alone for a week or two personally. I am more concerned about celebrating his life and what he meant to us than dissecting his death, or uninformed peoples impression of what might have happened.
I think at this point, if I personally see anything about, I am gonna nuke it. Hate me for it if you will, call me a free speach crusher if you will, but right now, I really dont give a quack.
If Jay or Adam tell me to chill on it, I will.
I usually try not to pull rank and flex the mod muscle, but on this one, I will.

I agree. It is absolutely apparent the love many on the board had for Matt, and their wish he be memorialized in a positive and respectful manner. Like you, I'm trying to tread with manners and respect.
I introduced myself to the Inforoo camp Sunday evening. There were only two people in camp, one no longer participates on the board. The first words I heard from the camp concerned Matt, which shocked me. I was invited to sit and talk for a few minutes. Then, the two said they had to leave for Dave Mathews. I excused myself as the camp became a ghost town.
My immediate reaction was shock and sorrow for Matt's family and friends. But also, I worried that if one of our own, who should have been well versed in handling the difficulties 'Roo can throw at you didn't make it, how many others weren't going to make it?
no no no - we should talk about water bottle and the fact that Matt had beautiful blue eyes
The most amazing eyes. Utterly intoxicating, you could drown in them. They smiled at you and lit up a room. His eyes spoke volumes. He had the best smile too.

I remember when Matt first posted his pic here in Inforoo - it looked like he had photoshopped the color of his eyes in the picture - we gave him a hard time about it.
I haven't posted anything yet on this cause I haven't really known what to say to add anything. I didn't know Matt in life. I met him at the 09 Inforoo brunch very briefly as he was handing out cookies. He stood out though. There was a ton of people there that year and I know as I stood there looking around at everyone, wondering who the hell all these people were, I could recognize him. I knew who he was before I actually met him. I feel like I know him more now through his death. And he seems like he was a great guy. Someone who anyone would consider themselves lucky to be called his friend. It's sad that it can take someone's passing to truly realize the kind of person they were while they were alive.

I have never posted here before, but I found this thread through a google search of Matt's name.
I went to Matt's memorial services on Saturday. I have never been to a funeral that honored a person so appropriately as his service did. A band that he toured with as a roadie this summer provided the music. His best friend, a member of the band, played "Christmas Song" by Dave Matthews. Two of his close friends are Episcopal priests who conducted the service. After the church service in the morning, friends and family traveled to a place where Matt attended and worked at a summer camp. His ashes were spread in the water at a beautiful outdoor chapel. It is sad to see such a passionate person leave this earth so young, but his friends and family put together a beautiful day to say goodbye to him.
I don't plan on posting here again, but I wanted all of his inforoo friends to know about his memorial service.

One of the things Matt and I discovered early about each other was that we were both cradle Episcopalians. I grew up attending a church camp that was and is very special to me, so it makes me feel good to know his final resting place was there. I'm sure the service was nothing short of beautiful. It would be hard not to celebrate the life of someone like Matt.

Rememberance is meant for the good times especially when its a person who is no longer with us. Overcome the sadness and embrace with times of happiness.
At my funeral I envision masses of people not crying but enjoying thoughts of times shared with me. Thats all thats left in the end. The lives touched will never forget.
I dont know Matt or anyone here. I am new to this forum this year but it pleases me greatly to know everyone comes together and cares as they do.

Next year there will be no doubt about where it is.... that's a promise.

I was smiling while I was crying also because you can't help but smile when you see his smile
Well I know what picture I want for the water bottles now. That was the one I was thinking of.
Still want 'em black and white? I got a design almost ready for viewing that is a vectored (no pun) rendition of a fleur de lis that I think Matt sketched.
