Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I sent an email to Rachel of Sanuk and she emailed me back.
Hi Brian,
Thank you for the email, we are brainstorming some ideas for the name right now (my boss likes "The Sloan" and I like CarpeDM).
It really has been amazing for me to be on the receiving end of so many heartwarming and loving emails. Matt has been on my mind since I received the first email apprising me of the fact that we had lost a brand advocate and a really great guy.
I hope to have more news shortly as to what we will be doing (ideally a donation and a Sanuk) and as soon as I have an update - probably early next week - I will email everyone that has reached out to me.
It seems the shoe thread is where most of us are going to reminisce a bit. I noticed his account has a million posts and a million awesome points. Brought a smile and a tear to my eye.

Well I have followed this site since last year when I first went to Bonnaroo. I never met Matt but did read many of his Sanuk posts, I never found a pair in time to break them in for 'Roo this year but I will definitely purchase the pair that I hope will be named in his honor soon....nonetheless next year I will be at Bonnaroo with Sanuks.
On Saturday night, my g/f & I were walking over to Kaskade and saw them doing CPR to someone & I walked closer to ask what was going on, they stated what they had seen happen & I then walked back to my g/f & I hugged her because I knew that sadly whoever that was that getting medical attention had not made it but I still was leaving hope & sending good vibes. It wasn't until I got back home & checked inforoo that I found out it was a fellow forum member....even though I never posted anything I read the site multiple times a day and considered myself a "member." I wish I could have met Matt this weekend, yet even though I didn't know him I feel sadness that he is gone. My heart goes out to all that knew & loved him! I wish I could make the service but I have to work, safe travels to all who will be attending!

I think next year at the brunch, we should all take an honorary picture with our sanuks on. Or maybe we could start a thread with pictures of our Sanuks (if we already have them, or as we receive them)

I find it very fitting that he should have more posts than anyone on this board ;D
Yeah I feel like there is a lesson to be taken from all this. I hung out with Matt after LCD for about 15 or 20 minutes, he had a camelbak plenty of water, and did not look any worse off than the rest of us at 5 AM. I like to party, and I pretty much drink beer (PBR) all day at Bonnaroo, so this has been a bit of a wake up call for me. I have been thinking about ordering some custom Carpe Diem labeled bottled water to bring in next year and hand out to people who look like they need it.
I was talking to pondo about this last night - I PM-ed you Jess....lets do this.

So it turns out you can order labels and print them yourself at home and put them on store bought water. I will be bringing at least a case or two to AllGood, and any other fest I do this year. If we all get one logo and stick with it, maybe we can really make a difference.

Someone design the label - and email it around with a link to the site where you can order the labels to print!

I nominate Itrainmonkeys if he has time. It needs to be black and white, with a good picture of Matt and Carpe Diem worked in. I would also like a mention for Matt's trees on the back. Speaking of which someone needs to get to work on that website. I will pay the godaddy if someone will design it.

I don't know if Matt saw/enjoyed/anything Jay Z ... but this song/lyrics kinda hit home with his passing...
"Reminisce talk some shit forever young is in your mind Leave a mark they can't erase, Neither space nor time So when the director yells cut, I'll be fine I'm forever young"
just wanted to say rip matt really wish i could have met you but my feet love you for the sanuks i bought them on your recomendation.
on a side note i would love to contribute to this water plan somehow for next year, i took a very sick feeling rest laid out in the field between which and the cinema tent late sunday afternoon trying to get down a full camel back of water because my dumbass thought beer and tequila was good enough, just from going back and reading matts posts on this board and from his neighbors comments it seems like helping out people as confused(drunk) as most of us have been by hydrating and informing them on the importance of staying hydrated would be a fitting way to honour his memory.

Personally I want the water plan to be for everyone to print off labels at home or get them at the brunch, and put them on water bottles you brought to give out. Not just at Bonnaroo, but at any show we go to, there is no good reason for people to die of heatstroke/dehydration, and if we can catch the folks at risk I think it will be a great thing.

How would people feel about using some cheap nalgene or other reusable water bottles for this? Matt was pretty passionate in his distaste for the disposable water bottles because of their impact on the environment. Also, perhaps giving out reusable bottles will encourage people to drink more since they'll hold onto it?

That would be expensive, and to me this should be a quantity vs quality thing. While I share the distaste for bottled water, giving it to people who seem bad off seems a pretty valid use for it. I am all for trying to get people to be sustainable, but when they are danced out at 3:30 in the morning may not be the best time for an object lesson.
I brought a few kazoos this year, interestingly enough, along with some minature bottles of bubbles, and was going to pass them out at the brunch along with the food I made.
Only problem was I couldn't find the brunch! but we've already discussed that, no need to run that story into the ground.
The kazoos went back to camp and had to try to compete with the vuvuleza (sp.?) that one of my daughters friends had picked up in South Africa this summer.

This whole things took me as a bit of a surprise. This makes me sad that I couldn't find yall for brunch....as I was just getting the layout of the farm down. (noob) I send my condolences and best wishes to Matt's family. The only time I have ever talked to Matt online he was a very kind person. I will most likely be around next year as a volunteer, so hopefully I won't be stuck walking around the camping area with a whole pan of uncut brownies. (kinda humorous albeit) I will find you camp inforoo! RIP brother.

I thought about the whole "bottled" water issue here and came to the same conclusion as Jess - when someone is need of some water - probably not the most important time to be spouting off about the evils of bottled water

wow this is the last song I heard this morning on the way into work this morning and I thought that same thing about the same lyrics. Crazy

Plus either we would be carrying around nalgene's with water in them, which would be tough to hold in bulk like a 30 pack of water, or would make them go to a water station and fill it up. Bottled water is the easiest way to get water quick to someone.

I have a friend that's in the corporate advertising/hand out business (T-Shirts, Golf Shirts, Pens, Coffee Mugs, WATER BOTTLES!) If you can get me a design, and an idea on the number that would be needed, I can easily get pricing, and handle ordering the bottles..... I'd be glad to do it!

I think bottles would be expensive to ship, and are cheap at costco, could he just make us labels we could hand out? I found a place where you can get Laser printable vinyl labels pretty cheap.
