Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

i saw rush in charlotte a few years ago, playing their snakes and arrows tour, and it was a better show than anything i saw at bonnaroo this past year. they killed the show, it was a great time.
i'd be all for a rush sunrise set on friday night. they certainly have the chops to do it.
Rush started their Time Machine Tour last night. Here's a setlist for those who may care. Its pretty good.
SET 1 THE SPIRIT OF RADIO TIME STAND STILL PRESTO STICK IT OUT WORKIN' THEM ANGELS LEAVE THAT THING ALONE FAITHLESS BU2B FREE WILL MARATHON SUBDIVISIONS
SET 2 TOM SAWYER RED BARCHETTA YYZ LIMELIGHT CAMERA EYE WITCH HUNT VITAL SIGNS CARAVAN LOVE 4 SALE (DRUM SOLO) CLOSER TO THE HEART 2112 OVERTURE / TEMPLES FAR CRY
I'd go for Rush as a headliner. Like many said you either love 'em or hate 'em. I just like band that try something different with every album. For mr it keeps everything fresh. As for you gals that dig Rush... ROCK ON LADIES
Strange that 2 of the 3 message boards I read have major Rush discussions going on right now.
Here's someone else's thoughts, articulated perfectly for me:
"The song writing is boring and repetitive. And while they're good musicians I wouldn't say they're amazing. If I wanted amazing musicians who write awful, indulgent songs I would listen to Dream Theater.
For a rock drummer, Peart's drumming has no balls. I don't care if he does these cute speedy fills that all sound the same. You could take all of Peart's drum solos, distill the balls from each one, add them up, and it still wouldn't rock a hard as Bonham's first six notes on Misty Mountain Hop. Good call on Purdie, dog. Vinnie Colaiuta is another one. And Steve Gadd and Abe Laboriel Jr. Sh!t, I personally know drummers who blow Peart out of the water and who have barely been on anything of note."
Does Rush do festivals though??? They don't ever even have an opening band on their tours.
They are playing Summerfest this year, but that is a different type of fest than Bonnaroo or Coachella. I wouldn't think that not having a opening band on their tour would keep them from doing fests though.
Bennyc that is the first time that Ive ever heard someone say that Neil Peart or Geddy are not great musicians. That includes people that hate the band.

First of all... really?
Secondly, if you are going to hold all drummers to the standard of John Bonham, then prepare for a life of disappointment.

This is a pretty useless opinion. Whoever said it.

yea. apples and oranges. 2 of the greatest rock drummers ever, for totally different reasons. completely different styles.
I still really, really, really hope that Rush isn't on the farm next year. Unless they just play a tent. Which they wouldn't do. I mean, if they're cheap and are just gonna play a small show, then by all means, it'll make people happy, so bring them in. But again, that's not what the show would be. It would be What Stage, possibly unopposed, and a giant waste of a lot of money.
I would almost be more disappointed if Rush were a headliner than I will be when Lady Gaga is.
While I would personally prefer a headlining set like the first video... I would settle for a pre-headlining slot like in the second video. I guess it's not so unheard of that they would open at a festival for a headliner. (especially if it's the same band that some on these boards are calling for)

A couple years ago I took the opportunity to grab a free fifth row ticket to see Rush in Cleveland thinking at worst I'd enjoy watching them play, if not the music. I was completely wrong,,,, what a boring show. 5 songs in we were looking to leave.... but we learned something that night, if you're not sold on a show, drive seperately!! NO RUSH Headlining on the farm please!

see, i've rarely been more enraptured by a show than when i saw Rush, and i have tickets to see them again in September. different strokes for different folks i guess.
but i fully support RUSH on the farm in a Headlining or Late Night spot!

I just saw Rush Monday night and it was honestly the best show I've seen them play. They were sooo tight and Geddy was able to hit notes that I would never dreamed he could have hit.
