I wouldn't recommend starting with Orchid or Morningrise. I would start with My Arms, Your Hearse and go from there. Still Life, Blackwater Park, Deliverance/Damnation, Ghost Reveries, Watershed....all masterpieces of music, not just metal.
I will just repeat this. Still Life is my personal favorite. Also, they just released a live record Live at Royal Albert Hall. The first set is blackwater park played straight through. Second set is one song from each of the other Opeth records in order of release date.
Also, can someone lead me to this confirmation. Im at work and dont have time to look around the TML

ive heard talk/rumor/discussion of Rammstein, and judging by their live show antics that would be an excellent bonnaroo grab
Agreed. Rammstein would be a spectacle to behold. Unfortunately, it's very unlikely, as they just sold out MSG, and it would take a boatload of money to get them here in the states, so they'd probably have to be within the top three lines. Just seems like more than bonnaroo would spen on an act with only a cult following in the US.
personally, i would say start by listening to Opeth's 2 live albums. very excellent!!
This pretty much gives you most of their catalogue /idea of what to expect in their live show. Although it doesn't have anything off the Watershed album, which it totally fine with me since I only liked a track or two from it anyway.
I'm interested in checking out the sword too, i've never heard of them before. The name intrigues me.
They were one of my favorite shows in 2008. Didn't know a single song, and I'm not a huge metal fan these days. Had an unreal time raging with a very fun-loving crowd (from where I was, anyway...dunno if there was a pit up front...hehehe).
Not even girls who listen to Kylesa, The Sword, Mastadon and Baroness? Maybe I just need to see their live show and not try to get into their music before. Did that with Baroness and loved them.

Well, at least 'roo's line up had more real (take that as you will) metal than the other festivals so far. I'm excited for Opeth/Kylesa/The Sword, though I need to check out more music of the latter.
And somebody mentioned Between the Buried and Me earlier... they're my favorite group. If they were to be added later on my life would be complete.

I just wanted to say that I love your avatar. Part the Second is a fantastic album.
Neurosis would be amazing. Saw them once a few years ago at the Scion Rock Fest and I had to sit down a couple of times during the show it was so intense.
