Bishop, do you mean it's bad business on the end of Cee-Lo/his management or Moogfest? If anything, I blame Cee-Lo and his management...seems like this was their doing. Oh, well, kinda sucks but that just means I'll get to see my third Neon Indian set of the year...and I'm not one bit disappointed about that. He was quacking awesome at the Virgin Mobile fest, almost better than his set at Roo.
Was doing Neon Indian anyway, but I'm wondering why they replaced him with a relatively unknown act (count me as one of the people who has no idea who Younger Brother is)
It just seems like they realised that by stretching out the Euro dates they could make more money than playing this thing, and just said "fuck it, we're not doing that." Plus, it's not like this was unavoidable( or so it seems with what we know), especially considering we're like two weeks away from Moogfest.

I get the same vibe. I don't count it as a mark against Cee-Lo's character; I'd bet his "people" had much more of a say in this decision than Cee-Lo himself (not that Cee-Lo doesn't have the final word on what he does with himself, but who knows what they told him to sway him to this decision). I just see it as indicative of how integrity is oftentimes lost when people put business first.

Well, my schedule for Sunday is really easy now...Shout Out Out Out/Sleigh Bells/Neon Indian/Hot Chip all at TWA, and then a little Dam-Funk afterwards at the "Moogaplex." All three of those last shows at the TWA are sure to be a blast. Not too familiar with Shout Out Out Out.

I have their first record and it's pretty good. They're supposed to be a blast live. Two drummers. Four bassists. Should be a good time
Hoping for Salem for that open Friday slot, thought I'm not holding my breath.
I'll actually be at Younger Brother. The fact that they are playing is a pretty big deal. Honestly if you like Floyd and electronic music, I suggest checking them out.
It's a pretty rare thing.

Oh I feel ya, Younger Brother sounds right up my alley judging from that clip. I'm going to dig deeper into their stuff to decide. This DJ Spooky sounds more and more intriguing as well. I got to interview him, so I'm interested to see what he has to say about everything before I make my decision. Younger Brother is in the lead right now.

I'm a sucker for Neon Indian, too, Bishop. That clip from Younger Brother was pretty cool, but I'll be at Neon. I'll download an album from Younger Brother, though...who knows, maybe it'll blow me away and I'll check 'em out. What's a good one to get, GL?

Holy quack, I am NOT missing Van Dyke Parks. I was already leaning towards his set, but after reading this article, no way am I missing it. Sorry, RJD2.
"Hide your wallets. Put your women in a safer place. Here I come!" says Parks with a friendly laugh in a phone call from his home in Southern California. "I'm 67. I put three kids through school by working hard in a studio. I put out a few albums and never had the opportunity to promote them or play them. So I'm going to do that! I'm going to promote some possibly expired song material that's going to span my life. Then I'm going to sort of leap frog into some new songs as well."
"I try to put a lot of physicality into a string arrangement - the rhythm," says Parks. "Forget the drummer. He had a beautiful solo. We heard all about Africa. It was great. But let's look at other instruments as physical. I try to put the boogie in the strings. I try to reflect what I learned in, say Asheville, N.C., about how powerful and physical a fiddle can be. ... As I look back on these things I see myself as someone who was truly, centrally, obsessed with folk music and just wanted to take part in fancyfying it. That's what an arrangement does. It tries to capture what's extempo, off-the-cuff, and not confuse it or obstruct it and, yet, give it enunciation." Parks laughs. "I've always said, 'Why use a small word when a diminutive one will suffice?' "
Damnit. Jonsi is doing an acoustic in-store at Harvest Records on the 30th, and I was going to go, but apparently you have to have a ticket and they're all gone. Tad peeved about that

Apparently they only gave them out to locals and they were gone in a day. I am thinking about maybe trying to stand outside the store since I won't have anything going on and might be able to hear/see something, though that's pretty iffy.
I just bought my three day pass this weekend. I'm going into a drug study for malaria for nine days with a bunch of eighty year olds, then the day I get out I'm driving from North Dakota to North Carolina for 24 hours straight to get there in time. Here's what I'm hoping is my schedule. I had more gaps in it before but after filling out my core list I went and listened to some of the bands I hadn't heard of and found stuff I liked so I'm not going to have much free time any night which is cool by me. The schedule:
Friday:
Dan Deacon early show (3rd time seeing him)
The Octopus Project
Devo (going to be so much fun but unfortunately it conflicts with Big Boi)
MGMT (I saw them open for Beck and they were boring, so I hope this time is better.)
Dan Deacon late show
Girl Talk (this conflicts with Panda Bear. I might go see Panda Bear but probably will do Girl Talk since Dan Deacon/Girl Talk will be a great combo and they might play together)
Javelin until 3:30 in the morning.
Saturday:
Mountain Man
School of Seven Bells (member of the band just quit so I hope their live show doesn't suffer too bad)
Jónsi
Massive Attack
Four Tet
Sunday:
Shout Out Out Out
Sleigh Bells
Neon Indian (I saw them at Bonnaroo this summer and it was easily my favorite concert of the four days and possibly my favorite concert of the summer.)
Hot Chip
Pretty Lights
I'll be dancing all night for three days and then sleeping in the trunk of my car afterwards. Should be fun.
