My greatest Virgin memory was seeing Wu Tang and Method Man telling the crowd it was great to be playing Rock The Bells. After Ghost reminded him that they were playing V Festival, Meth looked out and telling us it was great to be playing the Verizon Festival.

Damn...Pavement AND LCD playing on the Pavilion stage. Anyone know if we can get inside the pavilion area with the free GA tickets? Perhaps in the pit?

How would that even work? The seats are being sold and they can't let us stand in the aisles because it's a safety hazard, so if they're not letting GA people into the pit, where in the pavilion are they going to let them stand/sit?
i'm not gonna be able to make it down there anymore so i have two GA tickets to email to anyone that needs tickets. First person to message me w/ your email address i'll forward them

This was on the WaPo chat today: They actually did sell pavilion seats this year. Not sure if those are completely sold out. The GA pit way up front is first-come, first-serve - if you want to get in there, get in line early and don't plan on getting back in if you leave. The West Stage is out in an open area, way to the right if you are on the lawn looking at the pavilion stage. The Dance Forest is on the way out there. Basically, if you have a regular old ticket you got for free, don't expect to spend much time inside the pavilion unless you are REALLY dedicated to getting in there.
Also the weather is looking somewhat awesome:
Saturday dawns promising another warm one but a cool front does pass through mid-morning. Winds shift to come out of the north but this is going to be one slow transition. i would not be surprised in the least to see highs still reach the mid-to-upper 80s. An isolated thundershower is possible in the afternoon but is more likely to be well south of the city in the early evening. A noticeably milder and drier feel with upper 70s to lower 80s greets the dusk. Clouds increase overnight as winds turn to come from the northeast and lows bottom out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Confidence: Medium

waiting on my friend to pick me up right now then we're headed to MD! Don't think I'll be maing breakfast but I hope to run into someone there... those of you on FB can reach me there!
haha so say what you want about Jimmy Eat World but I have been listening to them since I was a teenager and couldn't pass it up and they did a good job (especially considering the lack of an audience in the middle of the pavilion).
anyway I had a GREAT day. I thought Yeasayer and Chromeo were really good, was completely blindsided by Thievery and Pavement and thought that LCD did totally rule

They sounded SOOOOOOOOO good on Saturday night. "Yeah" was unexpectedly brilliant and ended up being the last song in the regular set before they came out for a two-song encore, the only encore of the festival since they were the last act (for some reason, they skipped "Someone Great" even though it's on the setlist, but I can't complain since everything else was spot-on). "Dance Yrself Clean" sounded perfect live. Setlist was perfect, sound was phenomenal, great energy. I was so happy when Matt Thornley threw me the setlist after the show and winked. Great souvenir from a great day.
Other highlights were Chromeo, Neon Indian, Yeasayer. Pavement was just eh live. It was cool to see them play their songs, but they just don't have much stage presence and they were never meant to play anywhere that big. Also, if you're ever thinking about seeing Maximum Balloon for the possible guest appearances, don't. It's basically a Dave Sitek DJ set. Trombone Shorty was pretty cool as well. Wasn't into Temper Trap personally. Missed all of MIA's set, unfortunately (had to get in line for the pit for LCD).
Trombone Shorty and Thievery were definitely my favorites. MIA was kind of meh. She sounded good, but I just couldn't get into it. I kept waiting for it to get better and it never did.
I had a fantastic time at Virgin, Chromeo blew me away live, great crowd too. Love the Dance Forest set-up, except for the trees blocking view, but well, what can you expect in a forest, ha. Thievery sounded fantastic, I enjoyed it much more than their Bonnaroo set of this year. Yeasayer was really great for a middle of the day set, I wasn't a big listener of theirs before, but I will be now. I have to agree with karosko about Maximum Balloon, went over there to check it out, and left after 5 minutes, very very meh.
The LCD set turned me into a fan, after being really far away at 'roo during their set this year and not enjoying it very much. Dance Yrself Clean, as said above, really killed it live, and a great way to begin their set.
And a big thanks to Dottie & Dan, who jumped my car at nights end. You guys are awesome and a lifesaver!
