Thinking the extra bands are for the Pure Filth stage.
this is part of it. but there are 58 acts on a day compared to 42 last year. only about 10 will be on the pure filth stage. so they will be still be adding 6 or more (because i don't think they are done). i don't think they will have late nights like bonnaroo, but they may go later like 1 or 2 am.
There is already extensive discussion of the Coachella lineup in the Bonnaroo rumors thread. Lets lock this one up and keep the discussion where it belongs.
City planning documents already confirmed 1am again.
they didn't have everything going till 1 am though did they?
No, most sets were done around midnight. I have a feeling this year they'll push it until 12:45ish, the fines for going past 1am are HUGE in Indio, CA. They'll still have the dance tent in the campground going till about 4 or 5am tho which is always fun.
I was gung-ho about going to Bonnaroo this year but I think Im gonna hold off until they announce their lineup before I completely rule out Coachella. I'm not a huge fan or jam-bands or country/folk so I'm kinda nervous that a lot of the indie/electrnoic stuff I love about Coachella will be replaced with jam-type stuff at Bonnaroo.
Coachella has some pretty good exclusives (Boys Noize, Blood Beetroots Death Crew, Duck Sauce, DFA1979, and The Presets)

So, definitely going again this year. The lineup is pretty disappointing if you focus on the first couple of lines of each day, but there is a stacked undercard. There are some huge "gets" that you just won't find at many other festivals. Leftfield (why is no one mentioning this?? This is HUGE!), Radio Dept, Shpongle, Trentemoller, DFA 1979, and One Day as a Lion, to name a few. Plus you have some outstanding live acts like Presets, Cut Copy, BSS, Empire of the Sun, Duran Duran, and Delorean. I think it is worth going, especially if you live a couple hours away. But I certainly understand the lack of desire in traveling across the country for this. I think this is easily Coachella's weakest lineup in years.
disappointing headliners + a bloated undercard = roo 2010.
I seriously think that coachella saw all the bellyaching that happened last year and observed how it had NO impact on ticket sales. The "spend less, get same ticket sales" strategy has made it to the west coast!

can you tell us how much Bonnaroo spent last year and how much less it was than what they have spent in other years?
98% sure I'm going, my friend Jordan has been 3x and I know we will have a blast. Now trying to figure out carpooling and splitting car camping costs I suppose.

While I obviously don't have access to their expenditures over the last few years, I remember AC saying something in an interveiw that he would always like to spend less. My comment was more directed to the fact that there was so much complaining and it did not hurt ticket sales at all last year according to AC:
It just looked like alot of people would complain about this lineup at coachella like they did for Bonnaroo last year because it lacks the "wow" factor, but sales will be fine. Camping is already sold out? damn.

I had a feeling that was what you would say. That's not the same. He's saying he would like to spend less....not that he did.
YAY! my ticket is now on layaway. unlike all you haters, i kind of love this lineup. now let's just hope my boss doesn't notice that i'll be gone for three days.
the only downside is that car camping AND tent only camping are now totally sold out. luckily my friend knows some people we will carpool with, but still... in one day.....crazy!

It'll be my first Coachella and I definitely related to the style of music that Bonnaroo gernerally provides over Coachella but I didn't have any trouble finding 40 or 50 bands that would be fun to see. I'm really looking forward to it.
If anyone else is interested in going, you might want to grab tickets. Regardless of how weak it is at the top, VIP and all camping has sold out. The board admin who works for GV is indicating it is better to buy sooner than later.

Way things are shaping up, probably won't be able to coordinate a ticket/friends ticket/ and housing accommodations in time to get a ticket. Bummer man.
this is my first year to go, but from what i can tell on their board and from my friend....no.
they are also saying that the company is going to bounce back anyone's order who bought more than 2 on the same card, to try and prevent scalping. who knows if that is right, but i honestly think the festival will sell out in the next week or two.
i will miss going to bonnaroo this year, but after how miserable hot it was last year (and i'm from south texas) and matt and all that, i just need a break and i really do love the lineup.

You will love it.
The scenery and the staging is better than roo, by a long shot.
My only advice: avoid parking on site. park somewhere else, anywhere else. consider walking up to a mile away. unless you plan on raging in the campground after the show for several hours, there is no easy exit.
Wow, I expected another headliner to be added on Saturday, and they add Metallica Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth.
Metalchella!
Hate to burst your bubble but......
MyDesert.com reports that the concert still needs to be approved Indio City Council, but promoters GoldenVoice intend to hold the event on the April 23rd — the Saturday between their other two major events, Coachella and the Stagecoach Music Festival.
