I would hardly call me quoting your post from a recently bumped thread "obsession" but glad we get to see yet another display of your horrible attempts at snarky humor. Leave it to the pros. I also didn't notice that post was so old because whenever someone brings up Weird Al at roo I get a rage blackout.
Really I think it would be fun, I grew up with a vinyl copy of Weird Al in 3d, and it is a great album.
Edit Also snarky or not it still is funny.
I grew up on weird al but I also grew up on Barney, Power Rangers, and Nick Jr. and I don't really think I want anything like that at the farm either.
Edit No, it's not.

Weird Al was my first concert. I remember poking his fat suit. Good times...
He's got a cult following. He'd draw a crowd yeah, but at roo there's so much other stuff idk how much he'd get there. I'm really not opposed to the comedy tent.
I think he'd be a great fit at Bonnaroo. Supposedly he puts on a solid show and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. I don't think he should be dismissed as some disposable novelty act.
Supplies! I am selfishly bumping this! The other thread contains valuable discussion on the lineup announcement. This right here has some great points as to why he would be of value to have ON the lineup itself.
Seriously. This needs to happen. ;D I mean... why would Bonnaroo let him do all this and NOT have him on the lineup?!?! I am hoping he is 2013's Janson Skivvy equivalent and I hope to see him on a stage at Roo. None of this curating-only or cinema tent blather. I'm talking real show.

Something I'd happily settle for is hiring Weird Al to make a song/video for the Bonnaroo Lineup announcement next year. That could be hilarious/interesting.
Well....I'd say you hit the nail right on the head there.
I will echo the sentiments of many ITT and say I grew up listening to Weird Al and would love to see him at Bonnaroo. I don't know where he'll fit, but putting him where other comedy openers have been in the past makes sense. Depending on who else is playing at that time, I'll either stop in for a few songs or get weird with Al for an hour and a half.
Seen him 4 times, always great, but i have yet to see him do this:
Maybe if we get How To Destroy Angels, Trent's presence will influence him.
That video is a prime example on how much his band rocks. They are fantastic musicians, and he has been playing with the same three guys since 1982. I don't know many other bands that have been active for that long with their original lineup.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.

In 2006, when Petty and Nicks did "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" i was singing the lyrics to "Stop Dragging My Car Around" because i knew the lyrics better. Now Weird Al is finally at Roo and Tom Petty is back.
There are 3 Artists at Roo that Al has Parodied Songs of -R. Kelly -Tom Petty -Billy Idol plus "Dog eat Dog" is a Talking heads artist parody (kinda a stretch, but David Byrne is there, and they will do a couple Talking Heads songs.)
Roo Artists that have been in his Polka Medleys Beatles(McCartney) "Hey Jude", Talking Heads (Byrne) "Burning Down The House", ZZ Top "Sharp Dressed Man", Billy Idol "Cradle Of Love"
I think a Bonnaroo Polka Medley would be pretty cool.
I don't know when Weird Al will be playing, but I know it won't be on Thursday: he's playing a show on June 13 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI that night. He hasn't played a lot of festivals, but he did do Bamboozle in NJ in 2007 and in 2010 he did the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin and All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in the UK. I believe he did his full show at the 2010 festivals; Bamboozle was a shortened set, about 45 minutes. Whatever slot they give him will have to be after sunset, because of the video screens.
Fun fact: Al did a 10-minute 3D movie for the Orange County Fair a few years ago, and Paul McCartney had a cameo in it. Al went to Coachella just to film that cameo (well, and to watch some bands too).

I saw Weird Al last night in Knoxville, and it was awesome! I've been a fan since I was about 5 or 6. I'm 25 now and this was my first time seeing him. I have to say, it was an absolutely fantastic show. I took some pics, but my phone was pretty full, so there aren't that many:
Smells like Nirvana
Canadian Idiot
Amish Paradise
White and Nerdy
Fat (in a fat-suit... the picture isn't great, but he could dance in it well!)
I might have to say, in all my years of playing live, probably Bonnaroo, which I did just a week ago. I had 10,000 people going completely insane - it was beautiful. At the end of the show I just stood at the end of the stage and tried to soak in all the energy - I'd never felt anything quite like it.
