I might have to say, in all my years of playing live, probably Bonnaroo, which I did just a week ago. I had 10,000 people going completely insane - it was beautiful. At the end of the show I just stood at the end of the stage and tried to soak in all the energy - I'd never felt anything quite like it.
When he said on stage that "we were the best crowd ever" I got the most absolute chills. You know, you see artists say that all the time, but I swear I knew when Al was saying it to us... he meant it.
You really could tell it was a special show. The crowd was so amazing! The turnout completely surprised me in a good way, and the cheers from the crowd were so loud you couldn't hear the music at times!
This truly was a dream come true for me, guys. I'm all choked up

You hit the emotion right on the dot. You could tell he meant it when he said that. Me and my buddy were completely blown away by this show. We were not expecting to have nearly as much fun as we did and the only reason we went to his show was so we could get a good spot for Boyz Noise. He ended up being one of the highlights of the festival.

I am so happy to hear that! When I first posted this thread years ago, there were some haters... but I KNEW if he was booked, people would show up, and his performance would be nothing short of epic.
I know there were some serious conflicts, being up against a highly anticipated Superjam. Plus Idol and R. Kelly. It really does make me proud and smile when I hear the feedback that everybody that WAS at Al, loved it. Nobody was upset they were there or felt they made the wrong choice. Those that WERE there knew it was an awesome choice and had a kickass time. I couldn't have wished for a better outcome or turnout.
i will say I was a little upset for his set. my two favorite songs by him are Wanna B UR Lover and the Saga Begins... which he's played on every other date of the tour.... so boo to that.

Probably ditched "Wanna B UR Lover" because that's the song where he ususally roams the aisles of the crowds, I guess he didn't want to pull an Action Bronson and just be surrounded by everyone. I was also heartbroken when they cut right to "Yoda" for the encore. I was like "No! stop! where are the stormtroopers!"
Other songs they cut from his normal setlist: Skipper Dan, Party in the CIA, and TMZ.
I was really hoping for an "Albuquerque" encore too. But that was wishful thinking.
I was able to see about 45 minutes of the show before heading over to Superjam and this was a really great set. I had a hard time peeling myself away, but I knew I would regret if i didn't get some Superjam in. It worked out with them runninng about 20 minutes late, so I didn't miss much and I was able to get some R.Kelly in before those two. Saturday night was really off the hook this year!
