Speaking of ghostwriters, did Kanye write his own tracks on the album?
Can't speak on this album. I haven't listened to it yet, nor have I read much about it, but in the past he has used Rhymefest to help write some of his rhymes so I wouldn't be surprised if he helped with this album as well. I also think Consequence has helped before, but I don't think that has ever been documented.
This thread is like a seminar for white professors of Black Culture in America courses.
Hahaha...Sad that I clicked on this after all the in-depth hip-hop discussion has taken place. Love shit like that. Should've opened this thread more frequently and sooner.

Kanye's second Gorgeous verse is pretty awesome, and Raekwon absolutely kills it. I can't see someone being a Kanye fan and not liking that second verse. And I love that line from Kanye's first verse "inter century anthems based off inner city tantrums based off the way we was branded"
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I think the Roots with John Legend could be a awesome pick for roo this year. They have a new album out Wake Up and I think it would fit in well at roo.

Wu Tang Clan: with that said I would love see them in any form, the Wu Massacre at Bisco 2010 was sick Method Man has such a stage presence. Eryakah Badu: if you consider her hip hop Del the Funky Homosapien Cypress Hill Lupe Talib Common Mos Def Cee- Lo Wiz Khalifa Tech n9ne

I think that OutKast, eminem, or Wu would be the only way to top Jay Z from last year. Although I don't think The Wu Tang clan is going to make it this year.
EDIT: at least not all together. I think an appearance from one of the Wu solo or Wu massacre would be much more likely.

Some form of Wu might be there, but that wouldn't be topping Jay-Z. Outkast or Dre are they only rappers left on that level, that I can think of at the moment. Eminem would be a disappointment for me, and while he has plenty of mainstream appeal, overall he is no Jay-Z
And outkast aint gonna happen people, but I think there's a great chance for a big boi latenight
That's what I've been thinking. Even if Outkast did somehow happen, I really can't see them as a headliner like everyone else seems to think. Big Boi late night would be epic though.
If moogfest was any indication Big Boi would be a really good show at Roo. I would also love to see the Roots back on the farm again.
Other then that I don't really like/know much hip-hop. I've never really gotten into it. Hopefully whoever they get will do more then just rap shitily over a beat playing on a "djs" laptop like Kid Cudi last year. I'd be much more inclined to checkout/respect an act with actual live band backing them up.

I'm sorry that Kid Cudi is one of the few "rap" acts you saw last year. I know I will get slammed for it, but I think he is awful. And he's not even close to rap, he is barely hip hop, but somehow he gets lumped in. Wale, B.o.B, Nas & Damian, and Jay-Z all used full backing bands last year and all the bands were solid to fantastic.
I generally don't mind using a DJ, though. A lot of elements in hip hop production aren't easily reproduced with a band and a good DJ can be enjoyable as well.
