VIP Experience Questions

A few notes on differences from years past (some just slight, some continuations of things introduced last year):

1) The Which Stage bleachers are no more - instead replaced by a surprisingly large VIP-only area on the right (house right) side of Which Stage - essentially taking up more space than what used to be the right-side pit area -- but it is NOT the very front of the right side pit - that was reserved for All Access first; however, before most shows on Which they actually allowed any VIPs that wanted to to come into that front-pit area which is really very cool

2) The VIP Centeroo tent continued to be a great new(er) edition with more air conditioned bathrooms, free fruit and ice cream, a flatscreen showing either the Which or What Stage feeds, bar, charging hubs, lounge furniture and more -- a great respite from heat or rain that also had a mini fenced area with picnic tables and view of Which (bringing back the old fence that used to be in the VIP What tent, which is no longer)

3) VIP's entrance to Centeroo (at arch) went back to being exclusive and separate with our own scanners and HOLY CRAP was it easy to just stroll on in (presumably the new RFID system helped us get that back so they could track VIP's separately; for a year or two they had us enter into the arch GA traffic); this also means we had a separate exit, which was also a breeze; the weirdest thing is the crossover point where you have to dodge through a GA line from the Bond camping area which weirdly snaked through the VIP wall area - I'm glad they have a cut-off so they don't have to go all the way around VIP - I've camped out there in GA before they had that and I can attest that's an awesome work-around, including the What Stage entrance) -- BUT there's something kind of crappy for GA folks to be marched through a fence through VIP like weird prisoners - reminds me of having to walk through 1st class to get to your seat at the back of the plane - awkward for everyone but especially the GA folks.

4) VIP's main lounge had a large projector system that showed various feeds during the day but during a headliner showed that

5) The What Stage Hill went back to having chairs again and these seemed to survive much better than previous year's attempts

6) Because the What Stage was converted to a mostly permanent structure in the last two years, this means it wasn't completely dismantled Monday morning, which means that VIP'ers weren't also fighting giant steel beam-carrying truck traffic through our special exit (same exit Bond campgrounds get) and wow did it make a notable difference this year, we sailed right out Monday morning 9:20ish am

7) VIP had pretty great ACCESS to Wifi (strong signal from the spot) but the actual speed was still HORRIBLE most of the time

8) I saw literally no one eating the extra meal plan in VIP; I wonder who paid for it and if they'll keep doing it at all - the hours alone make me choose otherwise (I did try it last year)

9) Getting in was a breeze - we made a calculated decision to go 1 and a half hours after gates opened for VIP to avoid the initial line and rush and literally drove straight in with no traffic at all - gates and checks were a breeze.

I would do VIP again in a heartbeat and if you can, you should. They have more improvements in the last 2 years than they made the 4 years prior. The ON Site RV's in VIP are amazing and better this year than last year in layout, checkout and refills. RV parking if you bring have very generous-sized spots.

I'll let an InfoRoo camper tell any tales of how camping or trying to group-camp went.

This was my fifth Roo and First VIP, and I will never go back to GA. We found that we spent more time in Centeroo with the Which VIP lounge area to cool off/take a break. The bathrooms were awesome and the lady attendants were phenomenal! I tipped them generously on Sunday and let them know how much it was appreciated that they kept he Loos so clean and well stocked. As for the VIP amenities, they were awesome! I think this year we had our best neighbors ever and plan to meet up with them again later this summer for a weekend camping/fishing trip.

I got a free VIP upgrade but still camped in GA. We did TO so it was just as close to VIP camping. I have to say the amenities were very nice. Broke my #2 cherry at Roo for the first time. The people in VIP though seemed much more stiff than in GA. I can spend $700 on a ticket to Roo when VIP gets some sort of access to all of the tents as well as the stages. The tent pits were never full all weekend and could be better spent letting VIP into them. Even if it was first come first serve and it filled up I would understand and still be willing to put my money down. Until then though I will keep doing what I do to get my free VIP upgrade.

We have gone VIP all of the six years we have attended. Not that I need to be talked into spending the extra $$ but is it really $700? Or just the difference between General Admission ticket compared to VIP.

So the difference is $441.00 - $491.00 (depending on the price level of general admission. ($110.25 - $122.75 per day)

Lets put some dollar value on VIP.

-Thursday night dinner and drinks. Depending on how much you like to eat and drink this could be quite a bonus to start out the festival. Heck you could eat at 4PM at then again at 8PM and get your moneys worth.

-Tee shirt

-Poster

-Free showers

-no need to use festi cabs

-free fruit in centeroo

-no hassle drive in and out of festival grounds

-access to centeroo

oh heck I could go on and on.. We love VIP..

Well reading this has certainly convinced me to do VIP next year. Had a blast doing GA for my first Bonnaroo this year, but the incentives of VIP are too good to pass up.

I got VIP this year after going GA the past 4. cannot wait for all of the good stuff that comes with it. It is going to make Bonnaroo that much better

Last year, was my first VIP experience and I will not do Roo in GA again. It is worth it!

That's not included with VIP. You might have been looking at people who purchased the Roll Like a Rockstar package or people with artist passes

1. There are no VIP viewing areas in the tents. None.

2. I did VIP for the first time last year, we pulled in just after 7am, and got an awesome spot (2 minute walk to the bathrooms, 5 minute walk to Centeroo. I spoke to several people who arrived later, and they had a further walk to Centeroo and the bathrooms, I couldn't tell you how much further though. We didn't have to wait in line at all when pulling into Bonnaroo itself.

3. The VIP party does conflict w/live music. However, the party includes live music in the VIP area from one of the bands at Roo (last year it was Dumpstaphunk). You don't have to stay the whole time though, you could just eat and be on your way. IMO the food was solid. There was lots of variety and they did a great job getting everyone served. That being said it's only one meal, if you're not drinking this perk isn't quite as great.

4. To be honest I don't know what direction we were facing. My friends and I used a combination of our tents, pop-ups, tarps and sheets to keep all unwanted sun out of our camping zone. We were so well shaded our neighbors spent most of the day hanging out in our area (we were happy to share, they were awesome people).

5. You can fill up water in the VIP area, I don't think I ever waited once. Ever.

With all that being said, I think VIP is WELL worth the money. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I'll answer as best I can.

What are guest passes?

The pre-party is in the VIP camping area, if that helps answer your question.

Well if you can get into VIP camping with them you can definitely hit up the Thursday night party. Do you recall how much they were selling for?

I found like 3 sets available, none for more than 500 each. I think one pair was selling for 700 total, I think that was the cheapest. She won them on the radio with miller lite passes which I bought for 50 apiece (best 50 I ever spent).

I know you can't camp in VIP with these passes, there is a separate camping area behind the Which stage for artist guests.

As far as sneaking beer into center yea, I'm sure you can. I got a lot of booze in the last 2 years but never tried beer it's too bulky. Probably can get 1-2 in if you hide it behind your water in your camelback or other creative places.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I'm leaning pretty heavily toward VIP, as long as the line up works out. I e-mailed bonnaroo to ask about the VIP areas in tents (I figure, at the very least, it will let someone know that it's a benefit that potential future-VIPers might greatly appreciate). Probably won't get any response at all, whatever.
