As someone researching VIP vs RV, I see that some of the VIP info is kinda vague. I mean, obviously the amenities are clear, but the experience is a little vague. Especially because it seems VIP changes year after year. But I was wondering if anyone can respond about 2010 VIP:
Questions:
1) Are the VIP tents/lounges typically crowded frustration factories, or are they typically comfortable places to have a conversation with others? Or even relax?
2) Can you get a nap in at the air conditioned tents? How doable is that? And are they 24 hours or what are the hours?
3) For those camping in tents, is the RV noise/exhaust in VIP an issue? Is there an RV section that you can camp away from? Or what?
4) Are the shower or bathroom lines quick? Are they as long as the GA shower lines?
5) Are there food/drink vendors unique to the VIP area? Are they any better?
6) There's art on the outside of the VIP wall. Is there are on the inside wall?
7) People talk about the convenience of being so close to Centeroo. But it seems like it could also be significantly noisier. For tent campers, does VIP limit sleeping/napping options?
The biggest draw of VIP for me is air conditioned areas and then perhaps the possibility of sneaking an earplug-nap in these areas once or twice a day. But if they tend to be overcrowded and inconvenient, and if VIP tends to be insanely noisy 24 hours a day, then I'm likely to get less sleep and be even more irritated for spending the money.

Nope, not crowded. I had many a quiet, peaceful conversation w/fellow VIPs in the tent under the Which Stage while escaping the heat. The fresh fruit in there (bananas, apples, oranges) was a nice touch, too.
2) Can you get a nap in at the air conditioned tents? How doable is that? And are they 24 hours or what are the hours?
Yes, napping in the tents is very doable...and comfortable! Yep, open 24hrs from what I remember. And they have laptops & charging stations free for use while you recharge yourself AND your phone batteries.
3) For those camping in tents, is the RV noise/exhaust in VIP an issue? Is there an RV section that you can camp away from? Or what?
I camped w/a group of SUPER AWESOME OMG THEY QUACKIN' ROCKED Inforoosters (maybe ~25 of us?) directly between the What Stage wall and the VIP center area. The RVs were near the center area (w/food vendors, bathrooms, etc) & I never heard them from my tent. Howevah...I did hear every chord & throat-clearing from the What Stage, so keep that in mind.
Another perk: leaving on Saturday morning to make a Starbucks run. Yep, you can leave & come back. That would be much harder in VIP RV area.
4) Are the shower or bathroom lines quick? Are they as long as the GA shower lines?
Yes, both lines are quick. You could go shower 3 times in VIP before you got 1 shower in GA. And did I mention the bathrooms are air-conditioned, with toilets that flush, sinks with running water & scented hand soap, oh... and an attendant who stands there spraying disinfectant/sanitizer every few seconds? (OK, maybe not so enthusiastically by the last day, but still...the women's bathrooms were cleaner than most public facilities I've seen off the farm.)
5) Are there food/drink vendors unique to the VIP area? Are they any better?
Nothing unique - just all free on Thursday nite. I was quite impressed by the amount of vegetarian options they had on the buffet...plenty of variety for vegans and carnivores.
6) There's art on the outside of the VIP wall. Is there are on the inside wall?
Sorry, man...I paid zeeeero attention to the wall art.
7) People talk about the convenience of being so close to Centeroo. But it seems like it could also be significantly noisier. For tent campers, does VIP limit sleeping/napping options?
For its close proximity to the entrance, it's not bad. The noise comes from hearing all the stages. I could clearly hear the 2 main stages and strains of other tents in our Camp Inforoo VIP area, even during the daytime. This was a perk when it was so brutally hot you couldn't bear to schlep your tired asss inside. It only sucks on those occasions if/when you hate the main stage performers & your um...brain won't let your body get up & relocate...yeah.

The noise level is not insane...it's tolerable and definitely gets you pumped.
How to decide to go VIP? Ask yourself which is more important to you: the Bonnaroo "experience" (long hike from GA, wooks in your camp, $1 grilled cheeses, long lines for smelly portos, no A/C) or the "music experience" - you see more, hear more, do more & enjoy it more because you are RIGHT THERE...just my two cents' worth. Hope this helps! Either way, you'll be on the farm so it's all good, right?

After going RV for 3 years in a row I think I've become somewhat spoiled. For next year it's unlikely that my crew will be able to get an RV so I'm considering tenting it out VIP.
My only drawback is I'm driving from Miami and it's a good 14hr drive in a small car with all my camping gear; still do-able though.
Thanks for those answers, I was asking myself some of those questions too. I've heard that VIP is a limited number of people.....do we know how many?
Also, I know there are air conditioned showers, but are they free? The ones in GA are like $7, I think.
I has a quick questions. I will be going solo, as my girlfriend has horrible taste in music. When you buy the VIP tickets from bonnaroo, do you get 2 tickets + 1 car pass? Do you have to have a car pass if you are by yourself (Im assuming yes)? If I bought the VIP package, how easy would it be to sale the extra ticket? Whats the going rate for them around here?

Thanks.
Usually there will be a thread started about splitting VIP's it is typically a down the middle thing where one party needs the parking pass and the other does not. Also I would try and get in with the inforoo VIP camp if you are going alone. It is a lot better to share the resources of 25 people who you know are pretty cool, vs bringing everything yourself. Plus Druids carpet rocks.
^ I would definately camp with inforoo VIP if I do VIP. Also, I have no problem paying 50% + like $50 extra since I need the parking pass, so Im sure, if there is a need for a vip ticket, I could work something out.
Any info on the vip payment plan would be appreciated. Are the prices like $400 + 4 payments of $250, or something like that?
Not a vip experience question, but Select Comfort has a mattress pad that draws heat away from your body, the guy demoed it for me at the store, and the difference was drastic... I leaned up, he sat it down on the bed, I layed back down, and it felt like he had just pulled that pad out of a refrigerator. I was curious if anyone had tried using something like this while camping in the heat, it doesn't require an maintenance or electricity.

I just got a serta mattress topper like that for 75$ from overstock for a king bed. I am considering getting a smaller one and maybe cutting it down for camping.
I more quick question, how big are the camp sites? are we talking 10x10? 20x20? If the camp sites are big enough, I think it would really like to build a geodesic dome, but to make one 6 feet tall, the camp site would have to be 12x12, and if I'm gonna do it, then shit, I might as well do it right.
1) Are the VIP tents/lounges typically crowded frustration factories, or are they typically comfortable places to have a conversation with others? Or even relax? Typically comfy
2) Can you get a nap in at the air conditioned tents? How doable is that? And are they 24 hours or what are the hours? Have napped in these several times since '06. The hours seem to vary for the which stage tent. The one in VIP is 24 x 7 last few years.
3) For those camping in tents, is the RV noise/exhaust in VIP an issue? Is there an RV section that you can camp away from? Or what? They have separate areas for RV and tent, however, they did screw this up one year and had us mixed together which sucked.
4) Are the shower or bathroom lines quick? Are they as long as the GA shower lines? lines are quicker than GA and non existent if you shower off peak times. Night shower to recharge for late nights means no line at all.
5) Are there food/drink vendors unique to the VIP area? Are they any better? IF you purchase the VIP food add-on you get caterer type foods. Pay as you go vendors are same as centeroo.
6) There's art on the outside of the VIP wall. Is there are on the inside wall? We bring spray paint for the inside fences. DYI art.
7) People talk about the convenience of being so close to Centeroo. But it seems like it could also be significantly noisier. For tent campers, does VIP limit sleeping/napping options? We have always done tent VIP. The noise level isnt bad but it is there. You will hear the techno acts until dawn and the what stage sound checks will wake you up. If your a light sleeper earplugs are must have. I have enjoyed several daytime what stage acts from my tent in VIP and the screens and stage are clearly visible unless your spot is too close to the fence.
The spots have been 10 x 25 some years and 10 x 20 some others since 2006. We have typically had our car plus 2 10x10ezups side by side with our tent under one with no space issues or overlapping our neighbors.
Leaving and returning to VIP can be challenging if you dont plan correctly when parking your car. if you are coming and going communicate with your neighbors so your car doesnt get boxed in. If you can get your car out leaving and returning is fast and easy but expect to be searched when you come back in.
We typically bring a small grille for cooking breakfast but buy food in center for all other meals. We have done the VIP food packages in the past and found it limiting to need to return to VIP for lunch/dinner and miss music acts and when doing the math it was a waste of money since centeroo food is reasonably priced.
The AC tents and bathrooms are great respites. As the weekend went on, the AC tents looked more like refugee camps than lounges. Still, you'll be able to find space to sit and cool down, have some quiet time.
You do NOT want to tent within the RV area. That said, in the non-RV areas, you will not hear the RVs at all. We headed in pretty early on Thursday - I think I had my tent up and ready and a beer in my hand by 10:30 am. That said, we were pretty close to What Stage and could hear Les Claypool's soundcheck as clear as if we were on the Hill. This worked out well for us on Fiday night - I didn't want to see KOL, but could hear them fine while I relaxed and rested up for the Late night.
You didn't hear too much noise from Centeroo. It seemed my tent had a direct line to the DJ tent between Other and That and I could hear that pretty clearly until early in the morning, but that didn't bother me much.
There is no art on the walls inside VIP. A little grafitti. Big whoop.
Being that close to Centeroo is ideal though. It's so easy to get back to your car to do whatever instead of a possible long ass walk through GA. Therefore, I didn't have to commit to being in Centeroo for the entire day.
Also, with the new vehicle entrance onto the Farm from the road for VIP - Amazing. Totally worth $100 to $200 of the extra you pay.
The lines for the toilet and shower are manageable.
2009 we left later and got routed through GA and then way down the highway. Took about an hour to get all the way back around to Manchester. Last year the word was leave before 10 and go out the way we came in. We were on the highway in about ten minutes.
Same thing happened to us in 2009. The trip through ga wasn't that bad. It was a pain waiting for an hour or so to get out. Last year was so much easier.

I've gone VIP the last three years, and I had the same experience in 2009. In 2010, we literally packed up our car and drove right out. No lines. Smooth sailing. That's one of the perks.

Can anyone give me some info on how much an RV costs to rent? AND if the RV rental covers the price of admission and if so how does that work with more thatn one person? I guess I need to know if each RV has a limit with respect to the number of people who can rent it? - thanks again guys:) VIP/RV neophyte :s

None of us (that I'm aware) actually work for Bonnaroo so until they update the website no one can answer your question.
One of the advertised perks of VIP is the ability to skip the massive lines on Thursday when trying to enter the campground.
My question is: just how do you do skip those lines? I've been coming from Nashville the last four years, and once I get anywhere near Manchester, all the highway exits are closed off. Is there some sort of secret code or something you give to the cops to get them to let you off? Do you take a secret side road? The mystery is consuming me!
