I have taken the plunge and ordered The Division. The trailers just look too good... I love apocalyptic stuff. Maybe I can end it in time for Dark Souls 3. Anyone else trying it out?

My buddy played the beta and absolutely loved it, and now he wont stop talking about it, and he's usually very difficult to please with video games. I'm definitely considering getting it, gotta talk to my financial advisor first.

Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 have been enough for awhile. Looked for something to download that was just simple and found Dark Could and Dark Could 2 are available in the PS4 store. $15 a piece. Also there is a GTA pack for like $30.
Been spending more time with games over last few months. Lots of Forza and Rock Band but also getting started on Metal Gear Solid V after wrapping up Fallout 4. Also replaying GTA V after previously completing PS3 version. Gamertag for either system is obladerek if anyone is into these titles and wants to add me.
Went to a flea market today to look for some games and comics... I had no idea that Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast or Gamecube) had gotten so expensive. I horribly regret selling both of my copies a few years ago (to help fund my trip to Mountain Oasis in '13, so not a total loss). However, in seeing how expensive it is now (flea market had it for $95 for Gamecube, eBay lists similar prices and even higher for the Dreamcast version) it got me to dig out my Dreamcast and hook it up for the first time in probably 7 or 8 years. Thing still works, so I loaded up one of my old back up copies of Skies of Arcadia and played it for a while... I know what I'm going to be spending most of my time over the next couple of days off doing. Almost forgot how much I loved that game.
Aside from that, I actually hooked up my Wii for the first time in a couple of years as well and have been playing Chrono Trigger. Never got to finish that game, and I really don't know why... it's amazing, truly one of the best JRPGs of all time. As well, Fallout 4 is in regular rotation, with some Bloodborne here and there.
Tomorrow, I'm going to go look around for random Dreamcast games to play, maybe try and build my collection back up after having sold the majority of my games for it years ago.
Also, one of my co workers was raving about The Division today, will have to look into that at some point, I hadn't even heard of it before.

Has anyone here ever played Dark Souls 2? I picked it up a couple days ago knowing that it would be difficult, but holy fuck did I underestimate it. I feel like an idiot everytime I pick up the controller. Any general tips would be appreciated. I can't even get through the first area!

I recommend to start as a warrior build (or something similar) for the early stages. The first world (and first two bosses) are the worst of the entire franchise. It's extremely annoying. The best thing to do is to youtube the bonfires to get past the area and beat the first two bosses. You can then farm, farm, farm to build up your character. Some areas, you will need to defeat all enemies 15 times before they stop respawning and this will allow you to build your character up. DS2 is actually better as a sorcerer/mage... but you do have to start with a warrior-like build and turn him into a mage. It's amazing how much fun DS2 got for me as a mage midway through the game and through the end.
So for now... I recommend to run through the first areas to get access to the first boss or two. They are tedious and annoying and no fan of the franchise enjoys that area. After the second boss, you will love the game. You can also start co-oping with other people at the point and help them to build up your guy.
This is the worst game of the franchise but it gets fun after the second boss. You just have to reach that boss to reap the rewards.

Don't be like me and think you gotta kill those bigass troll guys near the shore to advance past the first section. You do not.

Thanks for the tips. I started as a bandit I believe. I'm going to try this later today. The thing that really got me was when I died everyone I just killed respawned. It was demoralizing lol. Good idea on finding the bonfires. I actually overlooked the one in Majula for about a half hour.

I promise you after the second boss in that first area... it gets WAY, way better. The first area is extremely difficult, annoying, and not fun. If you start building your guy like a mage/sorcerer... you can eventually get into dark magic which is fun to attack from a distance. A lot of people like to keep the knight/bandit build, though, if you are more into physical combat. There's one wall you can blow up in that first area to access a bonfire that helps a lot.
I just recently went back to playing Dark Souls 1 this week. Hadn't played it in a couple of years, I believe... man, this game is tough after having played Bloodborne, just how much slower everything is in this game than BB. From healing, to general movement and controls, and the fact that there's no equip burden in BB, just so much slower. But it's still a great game and has aged very well. I'm doing things in a different order this time with a suicide run through the Catacombs to start things off and avoiding the depths until after I've rung both bells (go in the back way to Bligthtown and Qualag's Domain).
Still haven't finished even one playthrough for Dark Souls 2, I can now agree that it's probably the worst in the series. Just didn't grab me, even after the first few bosses. However, I'm thinking about picking it back up for PS4 and seeing how it's changed around, but probably not before Dark Souls 3 comes out.
At this rate (still not having finished Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2), they rank like this for me:
1. Demon's Souls 2. Dark Souls 3. Bloodborne (really amazing game, just so well rounded)
Edit: The lagging in Blighttown has gotten much better over the years, I see. I remember when the game first dropped, that area was damn near unplayable.
Thank God Dark Souls 3 will have gameplay more similar to Bloodborne. I actually liked Dark Souls and Bloodborne better than Demon Souls but all three are close. I was thinking of doing a DS run through before DS3, too. I am playing The Division now... it's fun but all I can think about is DS.
Only reason I strongly say Demon's Souls is for the overall design... amazing monster design, brilliant, tight level design that induces claustrophobia, and that it was the ground-breaker. It was such a new idea for a console game and has obviously left a strong influence on the series and other games to have followed. Honestly, I think Demon's Souls has the best overall game design of any game I've ever played, and it's one of my top 5 favorite games of all time, maybe even top 3.
But yeah, I'm very welcome to a more Bloodborne-esque Dark Souls entry, Bloodborne has such amazingly smooth gameplay for something that can be so chaotic.
Not sure if anyone here has ever played Persona 4, but I've enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Pretty much the only thing I've played the past week and I have already clocked over 45 hours in it.
^I used to have Persona 2 for PS1 and really loved it. Haven't played any of the others, but I do have Persona 3 as a downloaded PS2 game.
Got wrapped up in life and forgot that Dark Souls 3 is coming out this Tuesday. Luckily I'll be off the next three days... can't wait to pick this up, sure as shit at midnight.

I will be waiting at my door for the deliver man for DS3 Tuesday... I can't wait!
So, pre-orders were so low for Dark Souls 2 that none of the Gamestops in the area had a midnight release. I just ended up getting up at 6 am and going to the Wal Mart down the street, doing part of the employee's job for them, and have been playing it on and off all day up until around 5 or so. I'm loving the game, of course, and I'm just now waiting for the right time to start the boss at the end of High Wall.
Of all the moments so far, walking into the Firelink Shrine was probably the greatest "omg" moment for me. Just, how much the place reminded me of the Nexus from Demon Souls was really a treat.
