Just started Mafia III last night. Looks very promising.
Get anymore playtime in? Is it worth it? I keep seeing the game go on sale for 25ish on slickdeals and I need something to play until the switch comes out.

Gameplay is very dry. Once you complete 5 missions you've done them all. Pretty much boils down to the same fetch runs that never require thought or different tactics to be successful. That said the story cutscence were entertaining and I'd say for 25$ it's worth picking up. I redbox'd it when It released for about the same.

so i've been out of the pc hardware loop for a minute since i last built my machine about 3 years ago. About a month ago my GPU took a shit on me and decided to end its life. question is whats a decent mid range gpu anyone could recommend? I know AMD just released some new tech but i haven't done much looking into it. Just looking to run games in 2560x1440 at high settings/or 1080 ultra
The Ps2 collection is picking up since I got the BW compatible PS3, but I've been mostly playing FFXII on off time. I'm really digging it, I know I would have absolutely loved this at the time.
Armored Core 3 (it was cheap, plus I used to love the first one for PS1) Dragon Quest VIII Klonoa 2 (got this one off eBay... disk looked fine, but there's a weird buzz to the audio that I absolutely don't recall from playing it on an actual PS2 in the day. Also, this game makes my TV go fucking crazy, reloading resolutions between screen and area loads. Don't know if this is normal, but it's horribly annoying and makes me not want to play it... a shame, because it's one of the best sidescrolling platformers ever made.) Rez (I know this is available in updated form for other consoles I have, I could even play the original for Dreamcast if I wanted, but a NM complete copy of this for $10? Couldn't pass that up.) Suikoden III (didn't even realize this was available on PSN until after I bought it, but whatever, I got it for less than that anyway.) WWE Smackdown! Here Comes The Pain WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006
I know one of my old buddies (who is also a former Rooer) has the other two Suikoden games somewhere, so I may try to buy those off of him, but I doubt he'll sell. I'm just not looking forward to these $50+ prices for Suikoden V.
Also, in a modern gaming note, Resident Evil interests me... for the first time since 4. Going to have to check that one out sometime soon.

wow so xbox waits til the day before Horizon Zero Dawn comes out to lay their first xbox UNiversal Windows Platform (UWP) Project Scorpio 4k game on us and its a follow up sequel to Shadows of MOrdor!! exciting times... shit is gunna be bonkers. all that scorpio power and uwp allow devs to make one excellent game and not waste time on porting to lower hardware.
I really liked Shadow of Mordor, what I could get through it at least. There was one orc that started bullying me in the very beginning and it got to where he was just hunting me down constantly. He would constantly kill me and get more powerful.

yea i had a guy doing the same but i'd always kill him and then he came back like 10 times looking more mangled and burnt up.

Yeah, it was pretty frustrating. It was like, one kill for me vs him killing me like 3 times. It got to be such a nuisance that I couldn't enjoy the rest of the game and just gave it up. I'll probably get the new one when it hits the 20 dollar mark on steam.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an amazing game. I've put nearly 30 hours into it and have barely scratched the surface. Not even done any dungeons yet. Mostly just exploring, doing side quests and shrine challenges. The Switch is such a flexible system, I love how I can play on my TV then take the system to bed and play the same game in bed. Also played a cool futuristic racer called Fast RMX, a lot of fun. Also some old school NEO GEO arcade games. Bomberman a little too.
