I assume I am not the only person who is a big enough nerd to watch people playing video games on YouTube. It's one of the few places that I take joy in reading the comment section. I have been watching a Ghost Recon Wildlands series. So many people complaining that the player is using sync shots too much. In case you haven't ever checked out a Ghost Recon game recently, sync shot is a big gameplay mechanic. It would be kind of crazy for the guy not to use it. Second, so many "You are awful at this game. I could do so much better in your place." comments. I love it because a) most of these people don't promote themselves as actually being the best at these game. I actually appreciate it because it is closer to my experience. I am a pro at the "oh, I got detected. Gotta kill everyone now." method of gameplay. It ain't pretty, but it gets the job done. and b) there is nothing to stop any of these people from posting a YouTube channel. It's not some elite website that only accepts twenty videos a day or something. If you can do so much better, do it.

So I was thinking on an RPG for the PS4. I always liked the more classic turn based ones, but it seems that is mostly gone. For the platform, should I go with Witcher 3 or Skyrim Special Edition? I have never played either. I am also open to whatever other suggestions you might have RPG wise. rebelbrad, I know about Bloodborne/Dark Souls

I did not enjoy Witcher 3 at all... but loved Skyrim. The controls of Witcher 3 were too annoying to get past.

Ohh and Shadow of Mordor! It's outstanding.
Good to know about Witcher. I had forgot about Shadow of Mordor. Thanks!

Witcher 3 is pretty amazing. Great graphics and characters. I got sucked right into the story. I would also say it's more like a turn based game because you have to strategize more to prepare for the bounty missions. If you just go around acting cocky you will get your ass handed to you.
Skyrim is so expansive and fun that it's hard to not recommend it. It basically just like the Bethesda Fallouts. The main story is kind of boring but there so much bullshit to do that you forget about that anyway.
If the boys are playing go with Skyrim because Witcher 3 has a lot of boobs.

Persona 5 is dropping soon. jRPG with turn-based combat that gets a ton of hype. Never played the series but might be for you.
Nier: Automata and Horizon Zero Dawn are worth checking out.
I don't think your kids would enjoy Skyrim tbh. If you've never played an Elder Scrolls game, I'd suggest Oblivion or Morrowind although they aren't on ps4/xbone.

I remember Persona from way back in the day. Thanks for the heads up.

Btw, like Madden, this one is all for me.
P4 Golden on Vita was one of my favorites of all time. I really want to hop on the PS4 version, but I think I'll hold out for a hopeful switch release. Turn based style games just work better on handhelds. IMO

Doing the First Infantry Division makes sense (even though the Big Red One already exists). It's the 100th anniversary of its creation this year and it's one of the more famous divisions.
Also, maybe Cantigny gets a shoutout. But that's just me.
This kind of behavior is unfortunately very common for gamers with disabilities and it's something I've experienced on a regular basis. I only bring up my disability when I feel it's relevant, but when I do I always get the same reaction: "lol where's your other one, down your pants?"
The lack of originality pisses me off more than anything. This stuff is also why I tend to play with a smaller group of people I know rather well so that I'm judged on my ability as a player rather than anything I can't control. I have some fond memories of spending days with a couple friends at Ignite in particular.
I'd also say I've experienced something of this level. Back in 2011, I began playing a game called Team Fortress 2. It would go on to become an all-time favorite (and one that I briefly played semi-professionally), but I wouldn't have known judging by my second match ever.
At this point in time I was playing on a laptop, and so had switch between the keyboard and mouse if I wanted to do anything. I did a stupid (i.e. I stood still) and was killed. The rest of my team members began yelling at me, at which point I explained my situation.
Not only was I called names and berated, but it turned out my life situation had particularly pissed off one of the admins on the server at the time. I was BANNED FROM THE SERVER. And they took the admin's side when I appealed!
So yeah, this is an unfortunately common occurrence, especially among CS:GO players who are known for their toxicity. It's why I tend to avoid that community like the plague.

Jeez, that's ridiculous. I don't have much experience playing on PC games, but I remember the days of Xbox Live were nuts. Anyone who was a girl, little kid, etc. would get harassed and shit on constantly.

I'm a little bit late to this, but whatever. What people do you enjoy watching? Day9 has a lot of good stuff on his channels, so I'd recommend him. He actually has some experience working in the industry and is/was professional Starcraft player. Frankieon1080, or whatever his name is, is fun also. If you like live stuff, look for Lyric. He has a YouTube channel, but his twitch channel is where he's best.
As for games to suggest, you've already heard Skyrim and Witcher 3. Both are great rpgs. I have something different though. Try Stardew Valley if you want to try something with some rpg elements, but is much more laid back and relaxing.

I don't watch anyone in particular, but I've recently really started watching the any type of "Let's Play" video I can find for new games before purchasing. I think it's a much better way to decide if I wanna buy the game or not than just reading reviews.

I watch TheRadBrad by default if he has the game posted. He's definitely not the best at anything and says so on a number of occasions during his videos. He's a funny guy and seems like he'd be super friendly if you ever ran into him. I also watch GameRiot from time to time. He's entertaining to me and keeps away from the yelling a lot of youtube guys seem to love. For example, the boys enjoy JackSepticEye. I can't handle that guy at all. The younger one likes one guy I think is alright, but I have a mental block and can never remember his name.
The boys love them some Stardew Valley. I have played it about ten minutes total. I think I would like it if I got into it. I just don't seem to have the focus these days.
I agree wholeheartedly with what bansheebeat said. Let's Play videos are a million times better than any review when I am looking to see if I should buy something.
