Looking for some advice between the PS5 or the Xbox Series X....I really want to upgrade due to my favorite titles coming out with new games over the new few years (Skate., NCAA Football, GTA). I currently have a PS4 but want to know everyone's opinion on which one to go with.
It really depends. So, if expanded backwards compatibility, bethesda games and xbox games pass are especially appealing to you, and you dont have a PC capable of playing video games, I would go for the Series X. If you enjoy Japanese games, bullet hell third person shooters, have a gaming capable PC, and want to be able to play PS4 games you already own at higher resolution and frame rate, go PS5. I have a laptop with an rtx 2060, a PS5 and a switch and i’m extremely content with what I have.
Demons souls, Returnal, and the FF7 Remake part 2 being PS5 exclusive was enough for me to choose it

I've stuck with Playstation since PS2 but not out of any real brand loyalty or real preference. Last Xbox I had was 360. Think maybe I just like the Sony controllers a bit more? Dunno.
Also being able to transfer games/saves probably motivated me more.
Love my ps5 and looking forward to psvr 2 coming out. I should really use the psvr I have more

This basically sums it up.
Xbox if you're into: Halo Gears of War Elder Scrolls Fallout Forza Call of Duty (though I don't think CoD will ever go exclusive) Generally first-person shooters
PlayStation if you're into: God of War The Last of Us Spider-Man Final Fantasy (who knows when VII Remake will ever come to Xbox at this rate) Gran Turismo Generally third-person narrative/action games
Addendum: the lists apply generally for backwards compatibility as well if you buy either Game Pass for Xbox or PlayStation Plus for PlayStation.

if you’re not into the ps exclusives, game pass on Xbox is a hard thing to not sell you on the Xbox.
If your friends are on PlayStation or you want the PS exclusives go that route. If you want the better gaming value IMO stick to Xbox.
if game pass is a big thing for you and youre interested moreso in the Playstation exclusives definitely look into the new playstation plus tiers they added. essentially theyre competing with game pass with these new ones

I'd argue PS Plus is a strong competitor to Game Pass now. Xbox first-party release schedule is looking sparse for at least a year, but PlayStation is adding strong first-party exclusives to the service. Not day and date, but still.
After getting throttled for multiple weeks, I finally won a cup playing newish Mario strikers! My lineup was yoshi, toad, wario and donkey Kong. Toad deserved a golden boot with a stellar run of timely goals and passing prowess.
Live a Live remake is excellent for anyone looking for a fun classic jrpg, just finished the twilight of edo japan chapter. Planning on getting Stray once its on sale. Also just preordered Splatoon 3 and The Last of Us pt 1 for PS5(never played the original tbh). also def getting Bayonetta 3 in October, maybe Pokemon Violet if theres a notable improvement. Pretty solid year for video games so far. Hopefully some heavy hitters like BOTW 2 and the next 3D Mario get reveals soon
