It was nice. They did a good job of spacing everyone out in the campsites so you didn't have people on top of you, but you could still get to know the neighbors. We had a grill, water, and electricity hook ups provided. I think there are a few different camping sections: one by the main road (where we were), a swamp area, lake camping, and shaded areas near the Backcountry Trail. They have a pool, laundrymat, general store, gameroom, and tennis courts. The bath houses were spotless and well air conditioned. It's $25 a night for a tent campsite.
The cabins there are all on the lake, which is open for swimming and/or fishing.
When the shuttle finally worked properly, it picked up/dropped off right at the visitor check-in center.
The park is close to all of the restaurants and quite a few grocery stores too. We really enjoied our stay there.
How did you guys commute from the state park last year? Were there trolleys?
Shuttles run throughout the day, pickup is at the office at the front of the park. I believe it was 20 dollars for unlimited use all weekend. Make sure you pay attention to which shuttle you get on and where they drop you off, because there are several different ones picking up and dropping off at different locations around town. Trust me, it's very easy to get on the wrong one, especially at night.
Yea I'm not sure how I posted in the other thread. I got so excited, it was the first one I saw! I think the Cold War Kids and Janelle Monae are more plausible though. The Raconteurs, probably not.
For those of you that are at all familiar with Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area.....The Shuttles are great for people that aren't that familiar with the area and just want a hassle free way to get from where they are staying to the festie area and back and that's awesome. For someone like me that is very familiar with the area is basically a native (at least during the summer) I found it very easy to just drive from Orange Beach to Gulf Shores and find parking based on my knowledge of the area rather than rely on unpredictable shuttle service that would take an undetermined amount of time. I never paid for parking the entire festival and never had a problem finding parkind baseded on my knowledged of what was available. But I would advise that only persons familiar with the area use this plan.
I hate to say we will not be there due to oldest child graduating that weekend...but check some of the club around the area for late night shows...they had a couple of really good shows that we missed last year...
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

Really?? Where did you park? SURELY not at Surf n' Style! haha!
My brother was working at the Hangout last year around festival time and he said he and a bunch of co-workers had to arrange to stay in Gulf Shores and just bike to work because the traffic was so obnoxious.

The local radio station (92 zew) just said if your curious who will be playing this year to stay tuned, they'll have an announcement shortly. You can listen online at 92zew.net.
Disregard, I called the radio station. They said it's just a concert announcement, nothing to do with the fest. Oh well, I'm used to waiting...

LMAO!!
Do I spill the local secrets and risk not getting a good spot this year or be nice to my fellow Roosters??
Oh heck...y'all know me...
One thing is that I was coming in from the EAST (from Orange Beach) every day...which probably helped some...and NOT down the Beach Highway (182 I think??) but 180 or Canal Road as we call it...The one that runs parallel to the Intercoastal Waterway...where The Warf is....so that helped with traffic. And I always parked on the EAST side of 59....about 3-5 blocks OFF 182 (Beach Rd) in the area just down from Surf N Style actually.....there are of course a LOT of people that will let you park in their condos/lots for $15/20 whatever...just keep going past all those. The basic rule is that if it is an EMPTY/UNDEVELOPED LOT or if it is a RENTAL that is NOT OCCUPIED at the time (has clear signs that it is FOR RENT at the time or a VACANCY sign posted) it is LEGAL in Gulf Shores to park on the street in front of those properties for any amount of time as long as you are not breaking any other Alabama traffic laws and are not obstructing roadway traffic and NO OTHER signs are posted to the contrary....THAT is how I always managed to find a parking spot.... ;D
So there all my Inforoo friends is the secret to finding free parking at Hangout....just make sure you save at least ONE spot for me for being so nice as to let you in on the secret!
