I really hope I can swing this.
^^this makes me hella happy.
I am most def in for this this its just a matter of talking more friends into going and convincing my daughter its ok to miss 3 days of school. (Yes she loves school that much)
There's not a thing worth remembering When tomorrow can bring someone new Get used to the thought You can't be what you're not Life has already got plans for you
Looks like I will be there with the kids. How soon should I book the state park campgrounds?
For just a campsite? You should be fine waiting til closer...I'd book by March if you are sure you are going though just to make sure.
If you are wanting a room at the Lodge or a Cabin, I'd book as soon as you are sure you are going cause they don't have as many of those...
I wish they'd come out with more lineup info so I could decide if I am going to go or not...it's more of a vacay issue than anything...just don't think I can swing both this AND Roo so close together since my vacay year runs from July 1 - June 30 so both will be coming at the END of my vacay pool for the year....

Me and you both, lady! ;D
I'm also worried about the taking off of the work situation, with Hangout>Waaakkkaaa being sooo close together, on top of being in a fairly new work position... but just maybe they'll love me enough to understand by then
Trey did seem to have a good time last year and be really comfortable so I don't have a hard time seeing this happening. They put on a great fest last year with very little hassle last year esp for a first year fest on that large a scale...I just want to know who the other headliners might be other than Phish and WSP....am hoping for a more diverse festie like last year rather than just a straight up Jambase festie....I think they will come through.....
If the economy stays depressed you should be able to get some good deals on condos...I would start looking/booking now before the prices start going up closer to the "official" lineup annoucement and ticket sales though last year you could still get good deals on condos up til the last minute though I think the economy has improved enough that it won't be as easy this year since the festie is a proven commodity this year. If I can swing going I will have some extra room available in my parents condo in Orange Beach....I will let you guys know on a first come/first get notice. If I bring the kiddo it will be a family first option....I should have an extra bedroom and a Queen sleep sofa and plenty of floor space. I had no problem finding free parking on the side steet within 5 blocks of the festie last year. If you think you might be interested PM me and I'll keep you posted on my status....but since I don't know...please don't count on me as your only plan
Anybody that went last year have recommendations for the condo units they stayed in? I would normally choose the state park but that looks a little far and I'm finding some condos for about $125 a night.

This is from Phantasy Tour so you know....take it with a grain of salt......but I thought it was interesting:
I know there are a lot of rumors going around about this; hell, even my dad heard it. I'm from Mobile, worked at the hangout fest last year, and I'm casually acquainted with the promoters (HUKA entertainment), and here is what I've been told from different people who don't know each other.
Huka offered Phish $2million to headline the festival, but the band turned it down. They said they don't want to detract from the festival they'll be putting on in summer of 2011.
There you have it: confirmation of a Phish fest in 2011. Have at it PT

We stayed at Sand Dollar - Waffle House is right next door - it is about 1/2 a mile down the street from The Hangout.

Do we know at all when we may get an initial lineup? I'm trying to make a decision about ticket purchasing. Do I want to get the cheap tix now or wait for a lineup and price increase?
Well I went on and bought the tickets. Planning to reserve a campsite at Gulf State Park again:)

I was VERY happy with Island Winds (west I think? maybe east). An example of how close we were: we walked out to the beach during the closing fireworks behind the main stage and we could have literally walked up and touched them. Not even a fence in the way. And you could hear the main stage from our balcony and from our pool. Got a slightly better room booked already for this year! 3 nights in a 3-bedroom condo with a huge living room and good kitchen was like 1000 bucks (you can easily split that 8+ ways). (don't know how available they are - this one's gonna get booked pretty early i would assume)
MMW on the beach is going to be beautiful! Got my fingers crossed for Phish, but I have a strong feeling I'll be pleased with the lineup either way! HUKA knows what's up, and I don't think many artists will be turning down invitations to play on the beach after how great the Hangout went last year.

Its right at the end of hwy 59. where it dead ends at the beach
so say I got a gulf shore gulf front property...how far do you think I could be from HWY 59 to actually hear the music from my deck? Or is this not gonna happen?
*Im not talking about being miles away Im talking about being 0.4-0.8 miles east or west of the highway
