Ok I am really wanting to go to this but does it really suck that bad? 25 Acres/bad sound/city all sound bad but Flaming Lips and cake are at least $60 tickets to me.
No, no. It's actually a real cool spot on the banks of the Miss river. Watching bands with the gold lit bridges and barges as a backdrop is actually stunning. Plus its a 3 block stumble to on of the country's best party streets, full of great food & booze. Don't sweat it. You'll have a blast at Beale.
Question... For those of you that have been... Are they strict about what you bring in to the fest? I don't care about coolers, but I plan on having my camelback. Will they give me any trouble? I'm pretty attached to the idea of having my typical centeroo pack, especially since our hotel will be so far away. Can I bring in small snacks? I'm really looking forward to this. I need a vacation! I'm starting to get antsy for roo. I ate some of the bonnaroo buzz ice cream and then dreamed about it.
I'm up for an inforoo meetup. How will we recognize each other?

Help?
Whats wrong with our city? Come on, the muder rate is just a number!
Also, 25 acres may sound small, but (while a different shape), I would say its roughly 3/4 the size of centeroo (without What stage), and there aren't as many people there either.
The only time I have been was like 5 or 6 years ago (for the disturbed concert), and the sound wasn't bad. There was a little bit of bleed through, but nothing to stomp your feet at, hopefully its the same this year.

I'll be there again this year. the sounds not bad at all if you're close to the stage. If not, yeah it's kind of like being in the middle of 2 shows. It's always fun though. And always rains.

It looks like I'm going to this now. The big question is whether or not I spring for something near the fest or just suck it up and drive from somewhere in the burbs. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the former is feasible for my bank account right now.

^ There's literally no rooms left anywhere near the fest. If your endurance levels are high you can wander Beale all nite with bigass beers and crash in yr car for a few hrs at dawn. Just sayin'. It's been done.
As I posted in another thread, my hubby hurt his knee and is probably going to require surgery. He can't even get in to see a surgeon until May 3rd. I'm hoping that he'll still be able to hobble around the festival if he keeps it wrapped. We're going to work on getting the handicap placard. I don't know how long it takes to get it, but hopefully we'll have it in time for this fest.
Any of you folks have experience with the handicap parking options on the grounds?
handicapped parking is on riverside drive (I wanna say at Union, but im not sure), its less of a walk, but a walk none the less. I would advise some crutches, but if it rains, they will just make life difficult. Make sure you bring a heating pad, and a way to keep it on his knee while he is sleeping (a belt works well), and make him use it every night.
Julie, are you and druid still coming down sunday?
It's me and Dreamingtree now on Sunday. Julie bailed on me for her nephew's something or other. I stopped listening after "not coming". Would love to meet up with anyone interested for Sunday brunch somewhere.

Yeah, she mentioned that in the BMOTM thread. What time are yall gonna be getting into memphis Sunday? And what type of food do you want to plan on?

Druid, do you have Sunday tickets yet? If not, I have 2 for just Sunday.
I dunno about the bloody mary. Kooky Canuck has a full bar, I would imagine they can whip something up. Gus's only serves beer to my knowledge, and I think Rendevous serves beer and wine.
Getting downtown early and securing a parking space in a garage that isn't inhabited by homeless people who defecate in the elevators / stairwells is definitely on my list of things to do as well.
