First concert was Bette Midler with my mom....first concert I paid out of pocket for was RATM w/ Wu-Tang Clan 1997 @ Starlake Ampitheater near Pittsburgh.
i think that would have been my first by myself, but the show here was canceled. i went to a bunch with my parents when i was young, don't know what the first was. but for some reason i didn't make it to a show till 2001 and it was dmb.
I went to a lot of shows with my mom when I was in middle/high school (Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, KISS, Van Halen), so I honestly can't remember the first concert I paid for out of pocket.... maybe the Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication tour, with Foo Fighters opening? That was 1999.
Not too proud of this one. Tony Yayo with Lloyd Banks and Mobb Deep at Toad's Place in New Haven CT in 2005.
I was covering this for the campus newspaper, so I didn't have to pay.
Other than Tony Yayo, I would've enjoyed thqt. Mobb Deep are legendary, and should've been headlining that. Lloyd Banks is a pretty gifted mc. Yayo, not so much.

I was at the Rage and Wu Tang show in Atlanta. ODB went crazy and wouldn't get off the stage. Not sure how many more dates they did but I wish you could have seen it before they canceled the rest of the tour. It freakin' owned!
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals on July 25, 2005 at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN. Ryan walked out carrying a bottle of wine, got really drunk over the coarse of the show, threw a fit towards the end and that was it. They sounded awesome, though. Just a weird ending. But my guess is that a lot of Ryan's shows ended like that around that time.

Tom Petty 1995 Wildflowers tour. I was with my mom and we were row 7 Benmont side. he kept turning around and looking into the crowd smiling. Such a good show.
I noticed many people mentioning Huey Lewis. My brother just booked him for next year. i can't tell you how excited I am for this show.

the show was going to be in clemson. i had like 3 failed attempts for my first concert, that show, a wu-tang solo show and an outkast show, all canceled.
First Concert: Teenage Mutiant Ninja Turtles, Live in Concert @ The Mud Island Ampitheater. I was almost 5 years old.
I went to alot of concerts early on. My dad worked (and still does work) at D Canale Beverages (Now Budweiser of Memphis), and in the early 90s they had a sky box at the Mudisland Amphitheater, and a suite at the Pyramid. I don't count these though, because I didn't go to listen to the music. I even went to a Grateful Dead concert in 95 (the one were wooks broke open a door and stormed in 4 hours before the concert, and the police resorted to tear gas to get them out). We left about 30 minutes into the concert though, my dad just had to go and "host the suite".
I even recall being maybe 6, and being at the mud island amphitheater with my dad. Drake and Zeke (local radio personalities) were broadcasting live from the skybox, and they kept trying to get me to talk to them, but I wouldn't because I didn't know them.
First Real Concert: The Rolling Stones, September 27th, 1994, Liberty Bowl Stadium, Voodoo Lounge tour. Blind Melon opened from them, and sucked hardcore.
First concert by myself: Pearl Jam, Riot Act Tour (2003), Little Rock

First ever was probably Bob Dylan with my parents. I'm too young to remember, but we used to go see Bob a lot...my parents are big fans, I'm named after one of his songs.
First unaccompanied was the Violent Femmes, probably 1990ish.
Motley Crue and Megadeth at Starwood Amphitheatre in I believe 2000. Had been gone to Dancin In The District in Nashville a couple times, but not by my choice - Soul Asylum, Semi Sonic, and Ammonia were the first bands I ever saw there.

It was kind of disappointing the more I reflected on it. I originally reviewed the show as not bad, but not so well now that I've been to more shows.
Connecticut hip-hop shows tend to be piss poor, or at least the few that I have been to anyway. I saw Papoose perform at a club in Danbury, but he only went for 35 minutes before leaving. At the Yayo/Banks/Mobb Deep show, the crowd was just dead and the guys on stage relied too much on the special guest appearances... especially when security told the guys on stage to not incite fights between the crowd to liven things up.
my first was guns n roses in 1988 my mom could not stand them due to the original album art and t shirts. sadly my next was blue oyster cult and foghat in 1991.
I saw Charlie Daniels Band, Alabama & the Bellamy Bros. with my parents in Buffalo circa 85/86. It was a fun show and we had cool seats.
The first one I went to with friends was Aerosmith with opener Guns N' Roses in the summer of 88 in Saratoga. Appetite for Destruction was just starting to blow up and I was a rabid fan. I also found out that Aerosmith had songs that I knew that weren't on Permanent Vacation!
Were they with Chicago? My first concert was Chicago and the Beach Boys. It would have been '89 or '90 because I know I was in the 4th grade. I'd stayed home from school that day sick, and I won tickets off the radio. (I'm pretty sure I won them by answering a question about General Hospital, but that may have been some other radio contest.) I fell asleep during the concert.

^^^ I saw Chicago and the Beach Boys on Friday Jan 27th, 1989 at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, I was 14 going on 15.
I went with my sister and her boyfriend but, as usual, it was my idea and I set it up ;D
I don't have all my stubs from around that time but my first concert with friends was probably either, Phil Collins on the Serious Live! Tour in 1989, or maybe Billy Joel on the Storm Front tour that same year? Both were at Nassau Coliseum too, and both were awesome times
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
My first concert was Suzi Quatro at Mount Union College. I must have been 14-15.
My first BIG concert was Pink Floyd 1977 at Cleveland Stadium. I was 16 and still have vivid memories of this incredible event. Back in the late 70's Cleveland had a number of concerts at the stadium under the name "World Series of Rock" which were amazing. I found a ticket stub for one not long ago when Fleetwood Mac was the headliner. The cost? $12.00
/yes I wore an onion on my belt. I have to go take my nap now...
2012 Wishlist: Radiohead Phish Daft Punk Ghostland Observatory Broken Social Scene Roger Waters Bell X1 Bonobo Chemical Brothers Fiona Apple Built to Spill Modest Mouse
First concert I paid ta go see was the first Family Values Tour (feat. Orgy, Incubus, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein, and KoRn) on 31.Oct.1998 which started my love affair with live music. I was 14.
I saw the Family Values tour in 1999! No Incubus, add Ice Cube. Was awesome except for the fact I was completely scarred by Rammstein's performance of gimps and "pissing" on the crowd. ???

That was still the '98 tour. Ice Cube couldn't do that last few dates fer some reason so Incubus was brought on ta finish the tour. So jealous you got a full set from Rammstein! And they weren't "pissing" on the crowd, it was a stream of fake ejaculate durin' the song "Buck Dich" I bet!
