I can't get a picture up for some reason, but I had the fortune of being in the great land known as BFE this year and it's actually not even in the picture. It's more off to the right. You have to go over this little bridge which is hidden by the trees in the picture to get there. If you go through the entrance located next the What Stage instead of the Arch, it's really not that far of a walk.

I've camped back there twice. Both times I came in Wednesday night. It's quite a walk, but the What Stage entrance makes it a little better. The only problem is they close that entrance sometime after the What headliner ends.
we stayed in BFE in09 and actually enjoyed it once the What stage entrance was opened....plus taxis make it great... we had camped in other areas and those seemed like a longer walk,,,,,
To followup the question any idea where RV "BFE" would be? I plan on probably going in on Wednesday again but last year I think we got lucky due to the mud because we ended up in Marty Mcfly I believe which was only a 5-10 min walk to centeroo

You make BFE sound so cool!! So....
I'm thinking I'm going in Wed night, but in RV section. Is that the general area that the RV's go as well? And are the showers up and running Thursday morning?
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
BFE isnt nearly as bad as being on the far left of that image. i dont think that is a pic from last year because i swear i was put beyond that little patch of trees in the bottom left.

no, the little tiny patch of trees in the bottom left, not the interstate border trees. because to the left of the little patch looks like a giant crevice/ditch. might not be the same one, but i know there was a huge ditch surrounded by a patch of trees and we were at a campsite that was as edge... meaning there were no other camps farther out at that sector.
I have been in BFE the last 3 years. The first year there were no taxis, but the walk wasn't awful because you could enter at the gate into the What Stage area. Since the dawn of the taxis - I budget a minimum of $10/day (2 rides at $5 each) to get into Centeroo and get home. Saves the feet/legs/back from wearing out over 4 days.
And, as a side note - if you're cruising the boards and come across the "Bonnarash" thread regarding the fertilizers used in Pod 1, I am one of the folks that has NEVER gotten it. Neither have any of my campmates or neighbors... So dont let that deter you from coming in early to camp in BFE. Happy Roo'ing!

Last year was my first year and my group came in on Wednesday night, thus getting parked out in BFE. We all loved being out there, I don't think I would ever want to camp anywhere else! It is a bit of a walk, but like mayonaise said, if you allot a little extra cash for the taxis then it's not bad at all!
I'm guessing that's what we were technically in last year and I didn't even know it, haha. I honestly did not even think it was that bad of a walk, 15 minutes was usually it. When the What stage entrance was open it was great, you got to walk through grass instead of gross dusty hard gravel I'm really surprised to find out we were in BFE all along haha and I totally wouldn't mind staying there again
Yeah, when they have the What stage entrance open I much more enjoy the walk. By Saturday night though doin' that long walk from Centeroo to 007 is rough since they close the damn gate by the time I'm leavin' the latenights. So this year I may finally spend some money on taxis.

HAAAAAHAHA! "Shut your mouth when you're talkin' to me." Love it!

BFE also means getting an extra, stress free, night on the farm and not sitting in traffic for "x" amount of hours. Its all about preference/perspective.

I agree with that. Me showing up on Wednesday, and Thursday morning hiking my stuff to Tent Only is way better than sitting in a hot car for ___Hours (usually 4 or 5) and then being in a bad mood when you get in.
I'll take a little bit of sleep over a log car ride anyday...
Indeed, that's the trade off: Get in line Wednesday and possibly have a longer walk from Bond (Possibly because you could still get parked further away on Thursday. Look at the map) versus waiting in a long line of cars on Thursday. I've heard the stories of 6 hour waits.

gotta love the constant helicopter noise from there too!!
when i got stuck out in BFE ('06, '07, '09) that's 1 of the sounds that i could never get outta my head when i was at camp.
seemed like they were always landing and/or taking off at all hours of the day/night.

got there wednesday night and camped in BFE for my first roo last year and it wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed waking up thursday morning and having all day to wander around to get the lay of the land and to meet up with other groups of my friends who were slowly rolling in.
The walk out of centeroo after being exhausted from partying all night was the worst part, but during the day the long walk gave me time to meet new people, drink a few beers, and just take in bonnaroo.
My not-so-close proximity to the dollar garlic grilled cheeses was the worst part, really
Edit: also, the water in this pod tasted and smelled of sulfur hardcore. All other pods smelled/tasted great, so i just stocked up before heading back to camp. I guess that was the worst part, but it didn't affect my overall enjoyment level all that much
We got into 'Roo at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning and camped in Pod 1. We loved it. As people have said, once the What stage entrance opens the walk isn't that bad, but even when it's not open the walk is only mildly irritating. It could be so much worse. The best part was Monday morning. Traffic leaving Bonnaroo was backed up all the way to Camp Pu$$y Galore, but some locals who lived nearby opened a gate in Pod 1, charged our car $10 and we made to I-24 in 10 minutes. It was great. Plus we had some pretty awesome neighbors the whole weekend.
