You're my hero! I might take you up on this. I was thinking I'll bring a jug of premade coffee to keep in my cooler, but iced coffee just isn't the same, ya know?
Theres nothing wrong with a 20 minute walk twice a day, seriously. you don't need to rely on the taxis. I made the walk there and back everyday. also, POD 1 is where you find the good party favors.im taking an RV this year, and I'll probably still walk down there to find what I need.
As I remember RV's aren't parked near the 007 campgrounds. And lookin' at the 2010 map:
Looks like Camp Mugatu would be the farthest RV spot from Centeroo. But havin' never done RV campin' I couldn't tell you which RV area you might end up in that early.
This is good news to me. I'm now hoping that BFE fills up sooner, so I can get there early and not be in BFE.
I did BFE last year (first year) and it really wasn't that bad, but I just felt removed from the majority of the people. I kind of want to do something different this year to try it out.
I gotta say...this changes the game a bit. I liked the shorter wait time to get in the past two years and endin' up in 007. But I guess the lines may be longer, but now parkin' could really be a total crapshoot! Whatever, this just means the party starts early all over the campgrounds this year! BONNAROO!!!
Last year we were in pod 10. The walk itself was fine; plenty to see/buy/laugh at. It was the heat of the walk that killed us. I know it's hot no matter where you are, but that long walk with no shade was really rough, then having to wait in line at the arch on top of that was brutal. (Here's where I thank the people who stood along the roads and sprayed us with water when we walked by!!) Anyway, our neighbors were wonderful and it was quiet-ish at night. One of the best parts, IMO, was not having our bathrooms along a main road. Every time I walked to centeroo, I couldn't help but feel bad for the people trying to wash up with hundreds of people walking right past them. Oh, and we had no dust!
So, that said, I'd be happy with pod 10 again, BUT a shorter walk would be nice. We're thinking about going in a different entrance this year. My question is: is pod 6 further away from the arch than pod 10? Has anyone camped in both?
We were actually a little further to the left than this pic shows.
Last year was also my first year. I was in the first hundred or so cars Wednesday afternoon and got into James Bond. I loved it!! Just seemed less crowded than the other pods and you basically have your own entrance. I'll be there this year again for sure!
We got there early last year, before the gates opened, and spent time in the party that was a bunch of parked cars waiting in line. We weren't too far down the road heading on to Bushy branch.
Anyway, we got diverted and sent around back, and we got camped right near Pod 2, RIGHT INSIDE THE TREE LINE. This was an absolutely incredible camping spot. Slept in late, had shade for all but maybe an hour of the day, a short walk ot the pod, to the dollar grilled cheese, and maybe 5-10 minutes to the arch.
We got lucky, and I don;t think you can game it out. I know that people behind us in line went to pod 1, so not sure what the rhyme or reason is to determine who goes where.
Early arrival certainly puts your Pod 1 chances much higher, but it isn't 100%.
Well we got to Manchester around 7pm on Wednesday. We were in line on the freeway for about 30 min, then they directed us off an exit (114?). Somehow the line just broke up and we had NO idea where we were. We ended up finding walmart and followed some people into the east bushy branch entrance, where we spent about 30 minutes waiting to get through the tolls. This was about 10pm Wednesday night.

My first two years I was close to POD 6 (Camps Han Solo and Boba Fett) and it was only about a 15 minute walk. So yes it is definitely closer than POD 10.
