We got into 'Roo at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning and camped in Pod 1. We loved it. As people have said, once the What stage entrance opens the walk isn't that bad, but even when it's not open the walk is only mildly irritating. It could be so much worse. The best part was Monday morning. Traffic leaving Bonnaroo was backed up all the way to Camp Pu$$y Galore, but some locals who lived nearby opened a gate in Pod 1, charged our car $10 and we made to I-24 in 10 minutes. It was great. Plus we had some pretty awesome neighbors the whole weekend.
wow i love capitalists!!!! what a cool idea. i wold totally pay 10 bucks for that. too bad they cant do that on the way in somehow. how many of us would pay to get IN faster!!!!!.
there were also more "unofficial" vendors out there. where are those cuty pies with the banana pancakes???
BFE isnt that damn bad i guess. i was there the year of the dust storm and it was pretty buttal walking in that dust in the heat of the day. i have had better neighbors out there though.
I enjoyed Pod 1 for my first Roo last year...the best part was being up against the East tree line and getting more sleep than anyone else because we were shaded longer. Definitely plan on trying to get there again.
ps - i left around 1am monday morning and made it to the interstate in under 10 minutes...no charge...thanks to that exit they opened up

That is nice, but if we had left that early, we would have missed the camp pu$$y galore party that lasted until sunrise. great bonnaroo memory.
I've never been able to get in the side entrance. Except one year when a VIP van took me through, and I didn't even have an exactly legit bracelet. Go figure.
last year was my first year at bonnaroo and i was so worried about getting in BFE.. i have heard so many bad things about it.. now i don't think i could do anything different than BFE..
Last year my group got to Manchester at 9am Thursday and waited in line for 10 hours. This year we're definitely trying to get in Wednesday night, even if it means BFE spots. I was skeptical at first but this thread has made me think it won't be so bad.

Don''t be scared of BFE, again, it's really not that bad. We never once took a taxi to Centeroo, we being me and my fellow cosmetology school class mate, haha. Keep in mind, my freind is pale pale PALE and super girly, and not a fan of the heat/outdoors, and she didn;t have a problem with the walk. I was actually showing her this thread earlier today and we were laughing about how everyone complains about it, because we didn't even realize we were in "BFE" until about 6 months after Roo. Everyone talks about the 30 minute walks into Centeroo from pod 1, it's more like 15 depending on your pace. When the side entrance is opened, it's like ten.

Hi everyone!! Great info here. It's my first Roo and I have a few questions if you have the time.
1) What is Leno and BFE? Don't laugh....I think I should know. I get it that BFE is far away for Wed nighters, but what does BFE stand for?
2) We have an RV and companion ticket. I see from the posted map the 2010 pale yellow sites. Is there such thing as a handicap camping area? Does anyone know anything about it? My bff is legally blind and if we're separated, I can't see her finding our RV with 75,000 people. Will they accommodate her needs??
3) We're camping in Chattanooga Wednesday night and hope to get to the 'Roo early. What time should we get there so we're not stuck in line for 10 hours. (Really? At 9 a.m., the line was 10 hours long??? Good GRIEF!!)
Have not heard that BFE. New Engalnd folks, we call it bum F East. Its a 'couple three' miles past poon-da-gaw, 20 miles past podunk. We went in last year with an RV about 1:30- 2 on thursday. Parked in vincent vega by 3. Not a bad walk at all. Heard that folks 1/2 to an hour behind us waited 3-6 hours in line. Everything i have read suggests its a crap shoot on the timing.

I was in camp David Wooderson last year and I think it was further than Pod 1...it looks like it is from the event map. Only waited in line for about an hour, (VERY FORTUNATE.) , came in a back entrance near that area, and our walk was about 30 minutes. And I was walking fast, it was rough in that heat, but it wasn't unbearable. Are we sure Pod 1 is the furthest? Doesn't seem that far to me...
we were way out past pod 9 last year almost at the edge, in an area that wasn't even numbered as a pod and had no water station...only a few portapotties. It was a very long walk to Centeroo. I can't imagine BFE being worse, especially if there is a remote chance of shade.
Also add the fact that I missed several Thursday acts I wanted to see because of the traffic...

Pod 1 is the place to be. My crew and I have camped 3 out of the past 5 years and we're planning on being there again. The walk to Centeroo is a long one but it's a nice walk in the morning to wake up. I've been 2 minutes away from Centeroo and I'd still rather be in Pod 1 with the 20-30 minute walk.
The bridge does get a little sketchy by the end of the weekend with broke boards and stuff but it makes it a little more fun. It kinda makes you feel like you're on a 90's Nickelodeon game show. lol.
So do they open up the gates when people start showing up Wednesday night?
Then...they re-close them and open again at 7am Thursday?
they open the gates weds nite and start filling up BFE (POD 1).
at some point (not sure-maybe when it fills up??) they close off BFE (POD 1) until morning on thursday when it's opened and people who want to hall their stuff to tent only can do so.
All right sweet, thanks. What time generally do they open up? After sunset? I plan on getting there around 9pm but will definitely arrive earlier if needed.
Just kind of curious... Where the hell is it? I know where the map says it is, however, shouldn't i be able to see it in this pic?
(pic from the TA thread)
If you look just right of the VIP section, you will see a bunch of uniform white tents, which would be tent city. There is a strip of green grass just below there, which is general vicinity of the way into Pod 1.

We got in line last year around 10 or 11 and we spent about 2 hours in line. I think how early they open the gates kinda depends on how early Walmart gets packed out, at least that's what I've heard. We were camped out in Pu$$y Galore, so the front of Pod 1 was already filled when we came in there, meaning that the line must have started at couple hours before we got in line at least.

ok so im planning on coming in on early wens night. so does that pretty much mean il be in bfe? im ok with that especially if it saves me a 12hr line wait. and i think the walk would probably be the best, meet an a** load of people, and see an a** load of things.
