Yea, if you have no interest in seeing any headling act, don't underestimate the power of a couple hours of chilling and relaxing. Even if you do it in Centeroo getting ready for a late night, sitting down for a couple hours goes a long way during a marathon music festival.
There have been cafe acts playin' durin' headliners in the past, so I don't see a reason they won't this year as well. And I have a feelin' there will be a good deal of people at Eminem's performance.
Plus you can get prime spots for late night you can also check out any of the weird tents available like the Xtent or comedy take that ferris wheel ride you been wanting to do all weekend wool gather in a hammock and those of us that have been before know the joys of said hammocks!!

One great option for headliners you don't like......instead of their show - go hang out at the late night of your choosing super early. Others will be there and you can hang with them until the show you want to see starts. Sure, it's an hour or two of just chilling but you get to be in the first few rows of an amazing late night set and there's really nothing like that experience IMO.
This. I had seen Metallica before, so I got up front row at the super jam tent. Needless to say, best way to be introduced to Tom Waits.....EVER!
Back on topic......I will probably see Eminem, it all depends on where I get put in camp. But plan on only seeing about half the show, then resting for late night. There are quite a few songs I'd like to see from him, mostly off encore though.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I plan on seeing most of the set, don't really care to be up in it though. Probably lounge around on the fringes. Don't want to miss any potential guest appearances, plus I like a fair amount of his material.

I'm not sure how I feel about this...I do enjoy Eminem as an artist, but I'm not sure I can see him at 'Roo. My past experiences with hip hop at fests haven't been the best. Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye, and Wu-Tang all amazing artists in their genre have put on terrible shows outdoors at fests. Hoping some interesting cafe acts are against Em if I choose to stray from the What Stage.

If I'm being completely honest with myself I'd say that Relapse was better than Encore. Sure Relapse was crappy, but it was crappy because Em was trying to hard to relive the glory days. Encore was just plain crappy.

From Encore I really remember liking Never Enough, Like Toy Soldiers, Mosh, Spend Some Time, Mockingbird, and maybe one or two others. Most of it was just silly stuff though

See, that's just it, I feel like there are some good songs mixed in with all the bad on Encore (Mockingbird, Just Lose It, Like Toy Soldiers) while I can't think of anything that was good off of Relapse.
The Slim Shady LP, and The Eminem Show, are my two favorites. I'd say I like about fifty percent of both Encore and Relapse. Unfortunately lost my copy of The Marshall Mathers LP a long time ago, but I don't remember most of it favorably. But there were some kick-ass tunes, like "Criminal."

Dan I would suggest finding the Marshall Mathers LP somehow. Its quite phenomenal from start to beginning and the way he is able to make the entire album a response to criticisms he received in the media is genius.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
