Theres really no good TRUE electronic dance artists on the lineup, besides maybe Girl Talk. Bassnectar falls a little into the dub genre, which is kind of hard to dance to. Pretty Lights is WAY too chill to dance to.
girl talk is hardly electronic and pretty lights def has stuff you can dance to. I guess it is kinda chill but I can get down to it
laggy: I saw that you went to the Does It Offend You Yeah? show. Any good? Do you like the new "ensemble" (saw that the band has a girl bassist now)? And do you think that they may be a late add to the lineup this year? I would very much like this! as an addition to the "electronic" scene

They were fucking awesome live. Exploding with energy, fell out dance party into mosh pit.. only time ive ever seen anything like that. I didnt know their band lineup changed, that was my first time seeing them. And I came onto them kinda late, not til a year or less ago. They have a new album i think they'd make a great addition but i wouldnt count on it

there is plenty of electronica just maybe not what the general public thinks as dance music. Get Boys Noize or Skrillex to come there and tear the roof off the mother.

Mimosa or eDit would be great and MiMosa is out there right now - his current tour dates end 5/7
He was here in Jackson in December and it was awesome - I froze my toes off because they had to move the show outside because of ticket sales but it was great!!

I got free tickets to bassnectar in dallas because I do promotional work and my roommate loves him so I went. I'd never listened to dubstep before (aside from the last ten minutes of him before LCD last year) but there was definitely some crazy dancing going on at the dallas show. I didn't see anyone who wasn't.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

Here's a question: was last year the first year with the Lunar Stage? Last year was the first year in seven I wasn't able to make it. Where is it in Centeroo? How was it? Big capacity? I hear a little too loud. Any truth to these rumors that they won't be bringing it back?
Last year was the first year. It was kinda in between This Tent and The Other Tent in Centeroo (sort of where Such n Such used to be). The area where the crowd stands wasn't covered, so capacity was not an issue. It was a cool addition, but way too loud. The sound bled particularly badly into This Tent. It also reverberated throughout the campgrounds until the very wee hours of the morning. I remember laying down (inside of my car, mind you) around 4am and I could hear the bass pounding loudly. It sounded like I was sleeping 100ft away from the stage.
Overall, a welcomed addition to Centeroo, but the setup needs some tweaking.
Its between the 2 tents in centeroo. There really isn't a capacity since its just in the field. Its really just a stage big enough for DJs,a little smaller then the tent stages. I heard everyone saying it was too loud, but i honestly didn't notice it, i guess if you were on the fringes of the tents on the side of the Lunar stage you might hear it, but i didnt notice it inside the tents.
I really hope they bring it back. There is obviously a demand for the electric scene, but it really doesn't need anything more then a stage and a field. Id like to see them keep it and leave LN tents for different acts. It also goes pretty much all night till sunrise which is nice for us who have been hanging out with molly. I think its gonna be pretty staked this year, at least 1 real legit big name each night. Id like to see them make it a regular thing.

Thanks for the answers brothers. Yeah it sounds like it could be a blast. Dance acts at night are always the icing on the cake after amazing days. I do hope they fix the setup so it doesn't bother others. Here's hoping for David Guetta. Saw him in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and he was just fantastic.
Nobody forget that Tiesto was in the second wave of announcements in 2008. And love him or hate him he's probably the biggest DJ Roo has ever gotten. In other news I'm pretty pumped about seeing Pretty Lights for the first time, I've heard nothing but good things.
not a fan but this makes me excited for a big electronic addition...thanks for the reminder!!
pretty lights melted my face off in 09 so i'm STOKED to see what he does this year

fixing the sound bleed to This Tent should be fixed. Its hard to fix how loud it is in the campgrounds though, because bass frequencies are really low, so the wavelengths are really large, meaning they travel really well and really far. So with stage full of heavy bass from the DJs, you are gonna get heavy bass traveling pretty far.

/end science explanation.
not to be a stickler... but wavelength has little to do with how far the sound travels. amplitude is the number one factor in distance, with absorption coming in close second. the wavelength is only representative of 2 things: frequency and distance to complete propagation (compression/rarefaction).

My interests in electronic has really expanded this year.... great way to tune out my surroundings, bop around in my chair, tune everyone out and work.
I looks forward to catching some live acts - The only ones I have seen live was at last years Roo. I would be happy to see Chemical Brothers. I will check out some of the ones mentioned.
The first night sleeping with it in the background was a little challenge... but that was the only night it made a difference.
I also spent a lot of time at the lunar stage last year as I love me some DJ's. It was located where the fire breathing show people were the prior few years. I was there every night and it was very very loud. More so then any other small stage and it spread far and wide throughout the Roo. There was def plenty of noise bleed at the tents if you were on the bad side and you could hear it across the entire fest. They def could lower it big time and still have it be amazing. The only other issue was it did not have any major light/stage show so if they add some visuals it would be sick. With that said I loved having it as it was a place to go every night outside with plenty of space to dance all night. The DJ's brought it all weekend long as it was prob cool for them to play outside for a change and in front of a huge crowd!! Dieselboy was amazing to start the weekend and it just continued.
I am hoping they bring it back, but a little worried with no big name DJ's on the lineup YET as I really expected PVD to be on there. I may email Roo to see if they will be having the DJ stage again. Let me know if anyone hears anything.

Oh that would just top it off for me as far as electronic but i don't wanna get my hopes way too high

having the top electronic/dj/not a dj acts being rehashes from the past couple years (bassnectar, girl talk, pretty lights) is kinda boring. the odd thing is i don't see an electronic "headliner". i certainly would hope bassnectar isn't the headliner. so i'm assuming they still have a lot yet to announce.
at the very least, they have yet to announce all the lunar stage acts. roo has always been kinda behind other major festivals when it comes to EDM, but the lunar stage was at least a solid step in the right direction last yr. so we'll see i guess.
I'm excited for my first Roo, but hoping there are some more additions from Wakarusa. Do you guys think there are some agreements that have delayed some of the crossover from that fest being announced? Obviously they couldn't hold back MMJ, Mumford, STS9, and bassnectar but I'm wondering if that's why the electro is lacking a bit. Considering this (http://www.interstellarmeltdown.com/) is happening the previous weekend down the road, you'd think it would be stacked at Roo. Tickets for Waka went on sale right around the lineup drop so it would make sense. Wishful thinking maybe but I need some of this:
and this:
Not to mention some Stanton Warriors, Ozo, Toots, and Harper doing a Marley set??
