I've never figured out the point of showering when I'm going to burst into a sweat the second I dry.
For me to be human I have to be able to wash my hair, it's short and I recommend a shampoo bar rather than liquid shampoo. Burt's Bees makes a nice one. I have to be able to brush my teeth...God to I need to be able to brush my teeth. We use shower wipes like this one www.campingsurvival.com/showerinbag.html They are thick and you can throw a package in the cooler to cool off or leave them in the sun for a warmer experience. I like to bring some make up remover type facial wipes just for my face, I usually go with Dove and you add water to them but there are loads of different kinds out there.
And the first shower after Roo is as close to heaven as I can imagine
Last year was my first Roo, and damn it was fun. I didnt 'shower' the whole time I was there, and the first night I was so delusional from working and driving all night that I didnt think about the swamp butt factor. Woke up friday, and after a walk TO Centeroo, remembered how much the heat and humidity sucked without bathing, and immediately picked up some GOLDBOND powder (a savior i must say), cost like $6 or $8 at the gen store. All was well and fine up until about Sat night, Sunday morn, when I realized that the powered crap was kinda caked on there. thats when I deceided to take a 'shower'... after waiting in line for over and hr and my gf already going in and coming out telling me it was freezing, and to just get a bucket and whatnot, i went to the trough next to one of the shower pods (happened to be near the RV's) and there were kind people with garden hoses and attachments and they sprayed me while i washed my hair and all, awesome people. So key advice if you want to shower and not pay and wait forever... 1) bring a solar shower and buckets, or 2) bring a garden hose and/or attachment and eco-friendly soaps/shampoos
YES! remember camp shower folks, if you are going to dipose of your gray water by dumping it on the ground somewhere, remember to use Eco-friendly soap! Thanks.
And remember to look downstream and see where your water will flow. We had some frat boys flood our site everyday in '03.
I was thinking of digging a little trench around my shower tent to catch any runoff. Or maybe creating a shower "floor" out of a flat storage box with small holes poked in it to slow down water seepage. Does anybody else have any ideas to keep from flooding others campsites?
Yeah I am going to make a pvc tent box with no top or bottom basically a curtain on all 4 sides and use big enough pvc to were it will hold my solar shower bag on the top. Then I am going to use a plastic skid that I can get from my work for a floor to stand on. I am going to bring a shovel and dig a small hole under the plastic skid to catch the water so it won't run out into someone else camping spot. Then at the end of the fest I am going to fill the hole back up.

I feel like if you dig a trench you'll come back to your campsite and find that you caught some wooks. It's hard to see at night lol .

This product recommendation is going out to all the fellas... Fellow men, being the smelliest wook on the lot is not an achievement you should try to capture. That said, many traditional bar soaps are not created with bathing in the outdoors in mind, so I'd like to offer an eco-friendly, manly smelling alternative that I recently discovered.
Dr. Wood's Black Soap with Shea Butter is the ultimate soap of which I speak. I began using the product in February. Normally my skin is extremely dry during the winter months; within a week of daily use my dryness problem resolved itself without the need of putting the lotion on it's skin. A few drops on a washcloth or puff is all it takes, and you can use it for shampoo too. They sell bottles in a large size, and if you go that route you may want to transfer some into a smaller, travel size bottle.
In the past I've used Dr.Bronner's peppermint magic soap for camping. It's great and leave your skin tingly, but I think the moisturizing powers of shea butter in Dr.Wood's product makes it a product that suits me better.
i like to spend my first day back from roo alternating between warm showers, and sleeping in a bed....all with the AC cranked full blast
EDIT - somehow i missed the actual quote i was going for, with the first shower after roo being as close to heaven as someone could imagine.... now you know.. carry on
ive mentioned this before....but you can buy shower nozels at the hair world places. they are under 2$ and they fit onto the free water stations. you fit them on and then you have your own shower head. works great for hair or feet. ive mentioned this before but it warrants repeating.
also....i think its fine to go all weekend without a shower, however, sometimes a shower gives you energy and helps you feel better and enjoy yourself more. if you dont like to shower then dont. i think thats part of the fun and i dont think anyone cares.
as for what we do when we get home...i shower outside first then get in my pool then....a bath and shower then usually the pool again then bed with my down comforter. ntohing feels better after the pool than air conditioning and a thick down comforter.
I am not ashamed to admit that I like music AND boys and while the music may not care, boys like clean tit-tays.
^^^ Sorry, old post, but THIS is why I want to meet LLL-not to try and look at the tit-tays, but because a woman who uses the words tit-tays is someone I know I'll get along with!

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
it works fine to me to just put the water on top of the car and let it get hot. i shower in my bikini and wash my hair at the wash station with my hose attachment. its just not worth it to make a shower but i understand those of you who want one.
^^^ Sounds good. And for the shower thing, never having been I don't know what I'll do, but I imagine if I start to smell myself, a cold shower might be good, as well as invigorating!
