I think this is the way to go. There are some great places on Craigslist in the Quarter or very nearby. One of them sleeps 10-12 and has a pool. A few sleep 6. I think this would be a great way to go but we do need to get on it and have very committed partners, because renting a place that is 1200 for 6 is cheap, but then if 3 backout, everyone gets screwed. After Roo we shall plan!
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
i wish i could say we are in right now, but i have to wait a while. but if you all go in on a house and there are space for 2 more if/when we decide to go, we'll definitely jump in.
Getting a place to stay in the quarter is good for you to get home safe if you hit bourbon every night, but city park is in mid city. Not really much in the ways of hotels over here though. You can take the street car from the quarter. But take the taxi to frenchmen if you want to really have fun

Yeah, Frenchmen was a blast last year. I wonder if there are any rental options in that area?
I'd love to split a place but but but even though we may get to go this year - we will prob have to head back to Jackson on Sunday (which, of course means if Soundgarden plays Sunday night - we will miss them) but the kids will have school the next day and we will have to get them from Boz's mom
Frenchmen St FTW! Definitely!! MUCH better for music junkies and less touristy....
This!! and just where are WE staying????
Well I've got a guranteed double room at the Marriott Canal for voodoo rate ($149 nightly minus taxes, etc) And don't know who I will be coming with, but if you guys want to split and have the other bed you know that's cool with me! ;D I'll just make sure whoever comes with me is either family or someone I don't mind sharing a bed with! Haahaaha!

it is four blocks from frenchmen, has a bar/restaurant downstairs that is very much the new orleans/marigny experience as well as a little liquor store, across the street from mimi's in the marigny (bar), and SURPRISE SUPRISE there is a giant balcony covering the entire top of the building. we partied on frenchmen and then came back to the balcony for after party. it only has a handful of rooms, as most bed and breakfasts seem to have, but if yall get to it quick you can maybe book all the balcony rooms together for a great late late after party
Frenchmen is an awesome place to do the after-festie stuff. Just make sure if you are planning to STAY in the Frenchmen/Marginy area that it is on one of the bus/streetcar lines that you can get to the fest on...trust me you WON'T be saving any money if you have to drive or take a cab to City Park. The ONLY efficient way to get to VooDoo is on the bus/streetcar route. @ 1.25 each way you cannot get cheaper transport. And trust me...I have walked from the Quarter to Frenchmen late night and it is about a 20 min walk worst case. There IS no walking to City Park. At least from anyplace you would WANT to stay.
i can walk to city park... but i also live in mid city
and you too can walk if you want. just drive your car to a nearby neighborhood, even closer than my house, and park on the street. then walk about ten minutes. obviously you will need a driver that will be sober/willing to drive buzzed, but i dont get drunk til the after show activities

I've mentioned before that I work at a hotel (condo-sized rooms) that's right in the middle of Frenchmen. Unfortunately I can't give you guys an inforoo-rate since it's such a busy weekend for us. Just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who'd be interested.
So I am missing Bonnaroo this year and I missed Jazzfest as well. Voodoofest would not only help with my festy jones. It would give me a good reason to return to my spiritual home of New Orleans. Soundgarden is a great first band, 1 or 2 more and I'm in.
Does anyone think Buffalo Springfield could be a possibiity?
Last week we began the process of rolling out artists on the 2011 Voodoo Experience line-up by announcing Soundgarden as a headliner. Today we are excited to continue our announcements by revealing Girl Talk as our first Le Plur artist. We will be announcing bands daily over the next couple of weeks so download the free Voodoo apps and visit us online. Purchase your tickets today; 3-day General Admission, 3-day LOA Lounge VIP and 3-day LOA Lounge VIP with parking are on sale now!"
I'm looking forward to getting band updates, but I do prefer a more traditional lineup reveal.

What??! Soundgarden/Chris Cornell isn't enough to get you all in???! You KNOW you want to come...you KNOW there will be awesome artists there....so just give it and DO IT!! ;D ;D It would be awesome to hang with you @ VooDoo!
This Le Plur stage is going to end up taking away from the rest of the festival. Girl Talk as a headliner? Lame. Saw him in Pensacola in like 08 and he pressed play on an ipod, letting his 'album' play all the way through.
It's great to have variety, but don't take away from actual music to satisfy a bunch of spun out 16-18 year olds.

"I just got fragged by a non-working speak." 5 Roo's and counting
Girl Talk is not worthy of an official announcement, especially as the only act in said annoucement. It's gonna suck in twenty years when people only listen to bleeps and bloops from computers.
