Last year was just ridiculous! In 2009, I remember watching animal collective and felt like I was melting. In 2007, the dust was just ridiculous and it sprinkled for 10 minutes during hot chip and that was it for the whole weekend. In 2006, I melted to the ground during Ben Folds and Bright Eyes... and in 2005, I remember not being that hot at all. It wasn't that bad the whole weekend.
Looking at the trends for the days leading up to roo, and disregarding rain percentages which change everyday, i predict high of 85-88 each day with high humidity making it feel about 95. I'm curious what last years temps were, but guarantee it was higher last year. Sweat but no heat stroke this year, long sleeves at night
Yes, but I have the weather channel app on my phone. a finer piece of fiction has never been written.
During horrible rain and storms the other night where my front window in my house began leaking, my power went out. My weather channel app told me it was 78 degrees and cloudly. Thanks, wc.
accuweather can suck it... I'm choosing to believe that it is 86degrees and partly cloudy until I get home from Roo. The weather can do what it wants, I'm just going to create my own reality.
This is what I normally do but last year's weather kicked my reality square in the arse.
ditto... I got drunk Thursday night and the heat mid-day friday forced my hungover arse back to camp to catch a nap on an inflatable palm tree while wearing a tie dye man-skirt
Accuweather tends to do a lot of wishcasting. They're pretty liberal in forecasting something drastic happening. Extreme weather brings traffic, which gives them more money.
TWC is a bit more conservative than Accuweather. However, I prefer (much prefer) the NWS over anything else... except we won't see anything out of them until next weekend.

I wanna say the heat index in 2010 was somethin' like 102. At least by Sunday. Maybe. I dunno. It was hot as hell. Not like the oppressive dry and dusty heat of '07, but still omnipresent. Couldn't escape it.
Now accuweather is forecasting Saturday to be rainy and so hot there is a 10% chance of steam. And the weather network is saying 70 degree highs with lows in the 50s. Shouldn't they get less divergent as we get closer?

It might have been closer to 108 at times.
It did go above 105 on Friday and Sunday for sure.
I've got really fair skin and get overheated a bit easily, so on the one hand I'm hoping for a little rain. On the other hand, my best friend I'm going with is in a wheelchair, and mud will be HELL for him.
What do y'all recommend for rain gear, particularly jackets? I don't want to drop a ton, but it would be nice to not have terribly wet clothes if it rains. Boot recommendations, too, if you have them please!

I can't remember which day it was but at one point the heat index hit 110. I'm praying we don't have a repeat this year.

Get a couple of cheap ponchos to stash in your backpack. They'll keep you dry and allow some airflow too!

So it's looking like a hot/dry scorcher right now. However.... this is what an ensemble forecast (lots of model runs) looks like when you should have confidence in them. The tightly packed lines mean that the runs are in good agreement.
This Thursday:
And here is what an ensemble looks like when you should have much less confidence (next Thursday):
See how none of them really agree about what's going to be happening? In other words, we might as well throw darts at a dart board.

Scorcher sounds rough lol, Im still a little gunshy after 2007. I remember hiding under the bleachers on that Sunday during Wolfmother because I was so sunburnt lol. My bad for not taking proper care I guess.

Chances look good for another super hot year. One thing I learned last year was it's okay to miss a show or two and hang out at the camp site under the canopy. It's no fun being too tired to see the shows you REALLY want to see.
Only at Bonnaroo will you see people both wearing mud boots AND slathered in sun screen. Everyone remember their cheap-o grocery store bags to cover up your gear. It looks like it's supposed to rain for a bit on the 8th - maybe that'll pack down some of the dust/dirt.
((But as soon as the forecasters predict tumultuous t-storms, i'll be sure to prepare for 102 and dry as f###))

Right now I'd bet against rain on the 8th,9th, or 10th. It's not going to rain in E-TN for a while.... so barring some magical downpour right before we show up the ground will probably be pretty dry.

All I know is I bring plenty of sun block. Sandals for the morning. Sneakers for the evening. Rain boots for the mud, and water shoes for the bathing troughs.
Shoes are the one thing I never skimp on when packing. It only took me one festival with wet muddy sneakers to learn that lesson.
I had a feeling it would be ... even without the imminent threat of precipitation. I used to spend some time in Lexington, KY. I remember showering being a fairly futile exercise in daily hygiene. c'est la vie. They should pass out deodorant at the toll booths ... as I get this feeling that not everyone brings their own ...
It's definitely going to rain this year at bonnaroo, lil Wayne will be there! Sorry, couldn't help it.
on a serious note, the weather forecast just got bumped up by a couple of degrees every day this week...they said we would have record highs today, tomorrow, and wednesday, so it's gonna be hot!!!
