Scrog, I recommend perusing the rules in the first post of any given game - and if you have time, a game itself - in helping get you ready. You can feel free to drop me a question anytime.
Speaking of rules in the first post of any given game... I'm going to be working in a new one this time around. I think there ought to be guidelines for the Referee when it comes to receiving/reporting information from players. I don't have exact wording, but there will be something to that effect.
I'm willing to join in if you still need an extra player - but like SFA and LLL, I'll be away at Solid Sound all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so I won't be able to get online at all during that time. I know nothing really happens on the weekend in mafia anyway, but I figured I should probably give a heads up first just in case anyone tried to claim my silence meant I was mafia.

Good idea Some concrete rules in those areas would have alleviated a few issues last game
Not sure what you are planning on adding to the rules about the overnight kills and such, but I figured I would put in my buck o nine. I did this myself when I was ref.
If the mafia whacks the inspector overnight, the inspector does not get a yes or no about the guess. I know that most of us are honest enough to not chime in after a death, but if the inspector gets a name before the mafia replies with their guess, I feel that the inspector could technically report it before being whacked. As long as the inspector doesn't get an answer until the mafia replies with their kill, this should take care of it. I am assuming this is what you are talking about adding in? If so, I second the motion. If not, I would recommend adding it in.

I can kind of see both sides of this, but I tend to lean more towards agreeing with Mike D. It seems somewhat unfair to me for an inspector (who is just one person and doesn't need to consult with anyone before making his/her guess) to be able to cut in and possibly out a mafia member before the mafia (who is up to three people and generally needs to confer a little bit after the end of the day before reporting their kill) gets a chance to do their thing.
^ bacon refused to give me the name last game until mafia had spoken. I can say with much certainty the game would have been drastically different bc I would've had two names.
That said I am not sure what I think the rule should be, but all refs should definitely be on the same page about it.
I'm not sure exactly how I was going to word it, but yeah, that is along the lines of what I was looking for...
Some rule that mandates exactly when the Referee can report guesses to the Inspector in relation to when the Referee publicly fulfills the Mafia victim's whacking.
I personally as Referee usually never report one or the other until I've received both. I think a practice like that needs to be entered into the rules.
That was the process I used. EAP guessed correctly the night she was killed but I didn't tell her she was right until after she died and couldn't report her info. Something else that would be nice is a rule on what to do if there is a non-responsive mafia member or a instance of a mafia player calling a whack without full agreement or communication with the other mafia players
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
So you are suggesting that I am mafia because I'm holding a cheerful grudge against you for your mafia trickery?
I was only joking when I suggested that scrog vote for you in each round, I had no idea that he would actually vote for you, but I do remember my first game, where I did the exact same thing (against HGH), and was completely innocent.
What I do find suspicious though, is that Capt Jack came to your rescue before you ever even posted. Now the way that I understand it, townies are not suppose to have an mafia related communication outside of this thread, yet he took it upon himself to level the playing field in your favor, without a single comment or cry for help from your part... Whats up with that?
As far as bacon goes, my experience with mafia is that Bacon likes to stir up shit. Normally it would be suspicious, but someone with Bacon's history, well, its just what he does. Maybe he feels the same as I do about you and Capt Jack's weird little connection.
