Please do not tease me! I hope this is true. If it matters, I was at a bar in Tampa this week and they had one of his Guitars on the wall. It was the only one I looked at, which I did not know it was his until I read the plaque.
if they add pretty lights im sold but im pretty sure im going to this festival either way its too close and the grounds are amazing for these bands...
Well they may not have Pretty Lights, but they booked Archnemisis, which I guess is like the poor man's pretty lights. Very similar musical style. Really tight production tooactually. you should check them out, their EP is free on their website www.archnemesismusic.com/
rdk0r, I plan on getting there on Wednesday ASAP, (noon-ish) and said I would start a camp, I called it something else, but I like Infowater better. As it gets closer we will get more organized.

I'd really like to see this fest venture towards my tastes a little more in the future. I find this venue rather fascinating, and I'd love to check it out, but none of the events that have ever been held there have been interesting enough for me to consider to pull the trigger. This fest seems to be moving closer to my tastes, but it still has a ways to go. Maybe in a year or two...
^Is this sarcasm? If not, what is your taste that Spirit of the Suwannee does not appeal to you? They have 5-6 different fest every year, ranging from everything to anything except heavy metal? Do you like Bonnaroo?

I honestly think this line-up is perfect for a smaller festival like this, and this is definitely more fitting for my own personal tastes than any other festival that's ever been at the suwannee.
It's looking like I'm going to be flying solo, in which case I'll definitely camp with you guys. But if my friends do come I'm not sure how they'll feel about "camping with strangers from the internet", so I'll have to talk to them about it
Suwanee consists of mainly jam-band and/or folk fests, for lack of a better term, and now they have this festival and the 311 fest.
Yep, you're right, that's the entire scope of good music covered.
If these type of fests at SOSMP don't "do it for you", then SORRY! You must be wanting some garbage there that will bring the wrong kind of vibes and crowds.
SoS is a very special place to many people and it doesn't need anymore diversity than it has already.

This is truly amazing.
I said I would like to see a fest that would want me to check out this venue.
I realize these festivals are not geared towards me. I never said they should be, I never insulated any of your tastes, or said you should not attend/enjoy this festival or any other suwanee festival.
For someone that cares about "vibes", you really need to get the fuck over yourself.
Excuse me, I thought that this venue, the spirit of the Suwannee is very diverse. (Wanee, Blackwater, Bear Creek, 311 Pow Wow, Magnolia fest, Suwannee river jam)I thought you might have been trying to be sarcastic and if you were not, I was asking what is your taste, what does SoS not offer you? What sound do you like? Instead of answering the question you decide to take the sarcastic insulting comment route. You posted in a thread where everyone loves this vibe/sound. Your posts come off as pompous and arrogant, since this fest or venue offers nothing to you, "maybe in a year or two", you make yourself sound like you are better than it and it needs to accommodate you. Maybe you should get the fuck over yourself. Just sayin'

Wow, you had to use html to emphasize the F word, good jorb. You just sound like a d-bag hipster twat to me, and with that said, I again have to reiterate that SoS is probabaly not for you. That music park is a FL family spot, and has been a psychedelic stomping ground for a very long time. So, if you aren't into this kind of music, you probably wouldn't have a good time there.
I'm at a loss for exactly what kind of lineup is appealing to you, as Wanee/Blackwater/BearCreek runs the gambit of the best festi bands.

Awesome. Inforoo has reverted back to the 5th grade.

I apologize for derailing this thread for another post, but I wanted to clear a few things up.
First of all, to Scrog, I apologize, you are right, my post was an overreaction. In my defense though, apparently I misunderstood your original response, I took your comment about Bonnaroo as going down the sarcastic insulting comic route. I would assume it's obvious I enjoy Bonnaroo, since I am here, but apparently not. So once again I apologize for misunderstanding your initial post and over reacting to it.
To answer two of your questions though, yes I enjoy Bonnaroo, but I believe the diversity and scope of acts is much larger than this festival's, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just apples and oranges at this point, no matter what Bonnaroo started out as. So I don't see how it's fair to compare the two, or say how can you love one and hate the other, when in fact they are very different events. But as far as sounds this fest is missing goes, once this festival starts adding acts like Bootsy Collins, Twin Shadow, Deerhunter, Wanda Jackson, Beirut, and Robyn, then I may be more interested.
Now, at this point most of those acts wouldn't really fit into this festivals market. But, if you compare this lineup to last years lineup, I think it is certainly showing signs of heading in that direction (for at least some of those acts). Others in this thread have already said the same thing, they are glad to see this fest diversifying more so this year. That was, honest to god, the only intention I had with my original post, to express that exact same fact. I don't see how just because I say I wish this festival would continue to evolve in a certain direction means I think I'm better than it. People have different opinions in music, they have different things they like, but just because someone expresses their opinion does not mean they are disrespecting other people's opinions, which it seems some you have assumed is what I'm doing. :/ (This last bit has wandered away from being directed at you Scrog)
And on that note, to caddyshaq, I actually don't retract anything I said. You make assumptions about my personality and character based solely off my taste in music. Using one completely irrelevant fact about me, you make the accusation that I am a d-bag twat that would ruin your vibe and weekend, when in reality you know nothing about me, my character, or my life or even what kinds of events I have attended and contributed to. So I stand by my statement that you need to get the fuck over yourself, or the quack over yourself if you so prefer, because if you're that quick to judge people that have different opinions than you, then you are actually the exact kind of person that can ruin the "vibe" at any event.
tl;dr/in conclusion: I never was trying to demean this festival, in fact it was the opposite, I was trying to commend it for becoming more diverse when compared to last years lineup, and was simply stating that i hoped it continued to do so in the future. At this point, it doesn't offer enough for me to want to pull the trigger on attending, but that doesn't mean any of you should enjoy it any less.
^No hard feelings. Next beer is on me. I am learning that some of my post, may be or seem more dickish than I intend them to be, so I can see how you thought I was being a sarcastic prick. Anyways, you should check this venue out. quack, I would go there just for camping alone. The music is just icing on the cake. I do have to make one comment about Wanda Jackson, you mentioned not booking an artist that is at every fest. I saw her at Wanee and she has been a Fest whore recently, I am thinking I might see her at Burning Man. Pull the trigger man, you will enjoy it!

I'm sure I would, I just got back from Floyd Fest where I volunteered and despite only initially wanting to see a few acts, I really enjoyed it. I would assume most these Suwanee festivals are a similar setup to that, so I'd definitely would like to check it out. But in the fall I'm a full time student with a part time job so it's a lot more effort/sacrifice to make it to a festival even if I am just volunteering. Hopefully some year.
Motherquacker! I'm just trollin' ya lass, no need to get butthurt. Seriously though, SoS is a sacred place, you will have a great time there no matter what.
