Last year I got a chicken salad sandwich on a pretzel bun from the Amish Bakery and it was amazing and FILLING. I think it was $8 and worth every cent. And the fried mushrooms near the What Stage are delicious. Y'all are making me hungry.
all of this deliciousness and i still just really love the tiny little ice cream stand, which is at the end of one of the rows of food stands. but maybe it's just the heat and my budget talking.

Goatacado mac & cheese, samosas, vegetarian red beans & rice at the what stage, arepas, and jalapeño veggie corn dogs! There was also an amazing root beer float that happened in my life somewhere near the Dirty Projectors' set last year.

They are my nemisises. A few years back on Sunday I was craving soda (or pop, depending on where you're from) but am not a huge Pepsi fan. I saw that they were selling root beer floats so I asked if I could just get a root beer.
No.
Okaaaay. Trying a different tack: How about a root beer float but holding the ice cream.
No.
Really? I'll pay the root beer float price.
No.
You don't even have to fill the cup. You can still put the quarter of a cup's worth that normally goes into a float.
No.
A couple of people got in line behind me so I just gave up.
Happy Ending: I wandered over to What and tried the Ben and Jerry's stand.
Sure!
I thanked them profusely and related my encounter at the other place. The guy's like 'take a big drink and I'll refill you.'
I had a Thurman Murman last year, but honestly it was not nearly filling/tasty enough for the price, even considering that I'm paying fest prices. My goal this year is to try Amish donuts and a Crif dog. Though sometimes I wonder if Bonnaroo food actually tastes terrible and most people are just too intoxicated to notice.

I think that the Crif dog folks might have been a one year thing. They weren't there last year. That bacon-wrapped dog was pretty amazing.
I know Spicy Pie is a fan favorite but I really, really love Pie For The People. My husband is all about the giant plates of curry from the row of vendors to the right of the Adult Swim area.
Last year though, the food I couldn't stop eating was the grilled cheese from over in the Food Truck Oasis. It came with pickled gherkins which were also amazing. I hope they're on The Farm again this year!

Ben and Jerry's rules.
aw boo! i must say, i visit the free ben and jerry's stand every time i walk by!
Anyone else like the chana masala from one of the Indian stands?
I got the chicken tikka masala which was wonderful. And I love the samosas. Last year I had not discovered chana masala but this year I will be looking for it

One of my favorite Bonnaroo memories of all time is having a massive ear of corn then going to church with Mavis Staples and an enormous Bonnaroo Buzz ice cream cone.
I think I had a grin on my face for at least an hour.
In 2012, I had this AMAZING crab cake at Roo. I do not remember the name of the place, but it was very close to the entrance to the festival grounds. I might be mistaken but they were also selling some Mediterranean food... Something like that! IF you happen to find it - must try!
All of the DJ's surely have taken a lesson
Start talking trash and I'll come with my Smith and Wesson

How early can one get breakfast and where are the best vendors? Also, best vegetarian recommendations. This is my first Roo. Coming with a friend who has attended several times but am reading through as many threads to get in the gROOve.

First of all, is your user name inspired by Friends?
A lot of the vendors run 24-7 and there are a ton of vegetarian options from pizza to veggie corn dogs to burritos. You won't go hungry.

For delicious vegetarian eats you need to get a pesto mozzadilla from Bearly Edible on Shakedown. I usually need some meat in whatever I'm eating but good lord is that thing good.
Also hopefully Samosa Man is back. They've got good veg options. Roti Rolls in Food Truck Oasis is also great.
Not sure of the name of the place but will be looking for it again this year... $2 Veggie Samosas...and they put curried chickpeas on top for free!!! Epic Energy food right there, for the best prices I have found at any festival.

The Cracked food truck had an amazing breakfast sandwich last year called the Goy Vey. It was outstanding. I plan on exploring the food trucks more thoroughly this year, although the lines are tough to take a lot of the time.
I also always make it a point to eat gator nuggets at least once. They are incredible.
And, lastly, Spicy Pie of course. Kind of a fan. Two a day is just about right.

Usually everything in the food truck oasis is fantastic.. I spend way too much money there. Specifically the Mediterranean one, whatever it might be called. Though it'd be nice if 50% of the folks in the trucks didn't have an annoying attitude.
